frigging awesome!

I used a method from this thread and then something similar to trim the back.
I did have same length below shoulder hair and now it is all layered and light and pretty.
And it took 10 minutes in the kitchen with a brush, hairband and some scissors!

So i have sobered up a bit now and have had a bit of a snip, pictures on priofile, im afraid my before picture (taken 2 weeks ago) doesn't show my old hair, it is all one length and very boring, my new hair looks better than pictures show, please ignore bad roots i am getting round to doing them!

Hopefully profile works......

JackBauer · 17/04/2009 22:06

MammaPiggy · 17/04/2009 22:24

im really impressed by you all! [proud emoticon]

MammaPiggy · 17/04/2009 22:25

misdee i just looked at yours it looks absolutely lovely well done you!

SlightlyMadStirrup · 17/04/2009 22:38

Jack Baur - In the photo where you are holding your ponytail - is the position of your hand where you did the cut?

MammaPiggy · 17/04/2009 22:40

and when i saw this thread titled 'just cut my own hair and it looks....' i thought ooh i better click on that one in case its someone berating me for ruining their hair! but no thank goodness you all like your ponytail cuts!

so when i next see someone walking down the road sporting a 'mumsnet' hairdo i will give them a nod and a wink

right im off to bed now

JackBauer · 17/04/2009 22:45

SMS, yes, more or less, it was worryingly close to my head!

OP posts:
SlightlyMadStirrup · 17/04/2009 22:48

It looks as though it was 3-4" away from your head in picture.

dearprudence · 17/04/2009 22:51

I am in awe of all of you. I'd love to do this! Mine is already quite layered though and is only just past shoulder length so not sure it would work.

misdee · 17/04/2009 22:53

i think if you can get it all into a front ponytail, the it will work

dearprudence · 17/04/2009 22:57

Hmm, the bits at the very back wouldn't quite reach a front pony tail. Maybe I need to wait for it to grow a bit more.

JackBauer · 17/04/2009 23:00

It is about 4 inches away but about 6 inches long (have 2 drunk men helping guess lengths...) you need to add in the bit where it goes into the ponytail as well IYSWIM.

dearprudence, The back of my hair didn't fit into it whihc is why i did another ponytail dead centre on my head.

OP posts:
SlightlyMadStirrup · 17/04/2009 23:10

OK......am tempted to do it at the weekend...but I am away on a course next week so really can't afford for it to go wrong or require too much styling (ATM styling consists of pony tail at nape of neck).

JackBauer · 17/04/2009 23:18

I'm not going to talk you into it! am already hiding from Hecate's thread!

Although I washed mine this morning and din't dry it and I really like it.....
I have worn my hair down all day whereas normally it is up all the time, but it does just fit in a ponytail if I want it to.

OP posts:
HecatesTwopenceworth · 18/04/2009 09:24

AHA! found you

come on, my sister is on her way over and I need to offer up a sacrifice...

ponygirl17 · 18/04/2009 09:26

Mine was just past my shoulders when I did it yesterday, and now the layers are kinda on my shoulders and just past the base of my neck at the back. So to get in all my hair I did a few ponytails at different heights, then split the pony tails to to cut in more layers. It does help that I am used to cutting my hair, but this was by for the best and easiest way ever!! My hair is poker straight when used my ghds and I am really happy with it.... go for it girls!!

MegSophandEmma · 18/04/2009 09:33

Just cut DD1's hair. It took two mins and is free. Pic on profile. Thanks for this thread whoo hoooooooo

SlightlyMadStirrup · 18/04/2009 13:44

DP is out for a couple of hours.

Dunno if I dare though.

I want to...but don't think I have teh guts.

SlightlyMadStirrup · 18/04/2009 13:45

And TBH it is the aftercare and "will it suit me" that worries me more than the actually doing it.

MamazonFirstladyofFilth · 18/04/2009 13:45

I DID MINE LAST NIGHT. (oops caps)

looks ok. can't see an obvious difference but my split ends are gone and i have a mucho nico feathery effect at the front.

im impressed.
