Obsession is fucking manky (sorry) it makes me want to throw up - its like being in a very hot smelly room that you can;t escape from.

I also hate people who wear vanilla - I mean what is that all about - it is for baking not for wafting around - yucky yuck yuck - that goes for all of you with the air freshners in your car too - quickest was to induce travel sickness sit in a hot car that smells sweet and cloying!

bluebump · 13/01/2009 10:40

Youth Dew for sure. I generally find the darker the colour of the actual perfume the more manky the smell. Oh and I too hate people who wear Vanilla MadameCastafiore, yuk. I'm not too keen on musk either since my mum used to wear the Body Shop's White Musk all the time!

DevilsAdvocaat · 13/01/2009 10:46

i LOVE chanel allure!

agree that perfumes are diff on diff people.

also some smells i wouldn't wear but suit other people.

i like most perfumes that people wear, it's if they are too strong that's the problem.

i have a dolce and gabanna perfume (no title) which i don't wear as it's too musky for me but i don't want to throw it out.

bookthief · 13/01/2009 10:47

There's one that smells like insect repellent.

I don't know what it's called but it must be quite popular because I frequently get wafts of it. Why would you want to smell of insect repellent? (unless you were wanting to repel insects obv)

HelenMc1 · 13/01/2009 10:48

I love Youth Dew Amber Nude (the version Tom Fod did for Estee Lauder). Not sure about the original.

Angel though is the devil's scent!

Bucharest · 13/01/2009 10:50

Lancome Narcisse. Disgusting.

AmIOdetteOrOdile · 13/01/2009 10:51

Amarige de Givenchy
Angel
Anais Anais

and that's just the 'As'

joliejolie · 13/01/2009 10:54

I wear Coco Mademoiselle too, but the eau de parfum so it lasts a bit longer.
I always get compliments on how I smell and I cannot smell myself at all.

cali · 13/01/2009 10:56

Used to really dislike Chanel No5, it smelt awful on me and always thought of it as a "granny" perfume.

Since having dd's, perfumes that I used to wear now smell horrible on me and can no longer wear them.

Now using Chanel No5 and absolutely love it, also wear Intuition by Estee Lauder.

Dsis used to wear Angel and too much of it, not nice at all.

midnightexpress · 13/01/2009 10:59

Anais Anais

and

Rive Gauche (does it still exist? Smells like cat piss on me)

wideratthehips · 13/01/2009 12:30

versace signature...yuck given to me as a gift at christmas and it is naff

lunamoon2 · 13/01/2009 16:13

MaryAnn I love Youth Dew but loathe Poison, in fact I can't think of any great perfum by Dior.

I could never stand Colours by Beneton, or any "celebrity" scent.

Madam C I love Vanilla, though not to wear but to smell in my home. I always buy vanilla plug ins

x

clarebear1 · 13/01/2009 16:52

agree with Alistairsim Angel is rank!

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/01/2009 17:47

I think I was put off Youth Dew by being given it as a 17 yr old - far too heavy for a young one

OP posts:
Kathyis6incheshigh · 13/01/2009 17:50

I love Amarige!

I always thought Tresor smelled nice on me but then whenever I smell it on other people it's overpowering and smells very cheap.

mollythetortoise · 13/01/2009 17:57

i love chanel no 5 and allure and no 19 but hate Coco. I smelt chanel chance and was thinking of buying that next.
i only have one bottle of perfume at a time and when finished buy another. is that strange?

Tinker · 13/01/2009 18:15

Dior do Dolce Vita which I love. But the muskier and sweetier and headier the better for me. Really dislike light "pretty" perfumes

p1umpudding · 13/01/2009 18:30

Anais Anais - vile, like toilet cleaner
Obsession by Calvin Klein - nasty stuff, too heady
Georgio Beverly Hills - good god no!

I used to Exclaimation and Dewberry (from the body shop) at school, can't stand the stuff now.

I like and wear Coco Mademoiselle, Coco, 212 by Carolina Herrera and I'm rather partial to Angel

charlotteolivia · 13/01/2009 18:32

no mollythetortoise its not! I tend to get a big bottle every year. last year was chance, this year it's romance by ralph lauren.
im not a fan of any ghost ones, but the new gucci one. (the one in the pale pink bottle. not the brown) is nice.

expatinscotland · 13/01/2009 18:35

Those SJP scents. Barf.

AndISayHey · 13/01/2009 18:36

Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue
Organza

Prefer subtle and fresh.

GrapeJelly · 13/01/2009 18:40

Anais Anais
Angel
Red Door
Tresor
Clinique Aromatics
Chanel No 5
Miss Dior
Amarige
Youth Dew
Dune
White Diamonds

There are very few timeless classics in perfume

That Kate Moss scent was horrific, it was during her Pete Doherty days and i think he was the inspiration.."hmm' im getting dank bedsits, unwashed bodies, methylated spirits and a hint of crack"

GrapeJelly · 13/01/2009 18:43

Most all of the celebrity perfumes of the 80's and 90's
