even though dc hasn't actually arrived yet (overdue),i got an eternity ring for popping out dd (thinking my fanjo was on fire mmight have upped the spend limit on that one!!! ) but as we are officially skint i had mentioned previously to dh jewellery and the like was a no no now for our spending, but today when we were out mooching rould the shops, dh picked out a lovely huge slouchy radley bag, in a sort f pale petrol blue colour with a pale brown mustardy thick soft handle to sit on you shoulder!

Very yummy and i'm very happy with it! But can't have it til dc arrives!

It even came in a nice big boxy bag (not it's fabric protective bag but a radley shopping bag!!!!!
So, what did your dh get you to show their eternal thanks for popping out your dc?

I got a white gold diamond and topaz ring. Plus he treated me to £200 to go shopping with.
Tho not sure if it counts... as I didn't do any pushing

LaLaB · 16/10/2008 19:27

he sends me to the metropolitan every now and then for the full works, facial and massage -poochied and pampered for 3 hours...and puts me in a cab there, he even calls the cab.very sweet methinks

drowninginlaundry · 16/10/2008 19:38

got nothing for DS1, then when pg with DS2 someone obviously told DH that a gift wouldn't go amiss, so i got a pair of diamond earrings - nearly fell off the bed as it was a complete surprise. He always asks me what I want for Christmas/Birthdays so the fact that he used his own initiative AND kept it a secret made me see him in a completely new light!
When DD arrives in January I've told him I want a surf board.

elodiemum · 16/10/2008 19:48

After dd1 I got a voucher for a pamper day but after dd2 I got vouchers for skiing lessons. I was a bit surprised and skiing was not the first thing on my mind post delivery but I just started the lessons and it's great to do something non child related for a few hours each week.

RuthChan · 16/10/2008 19:56

Didn't get anything for DD and am not expecting anything for DC2 next month either.
DH doesn't do presents. Even at Christmas.
Having read this thread, I now feel quite hard done by...

littlepig · 16/10/2008 20:13

I got a lovely gold emerald/diamond eternity ring (that I might have suggested that I wanted beforehand ). It is very lovely!

giddykipper · 16/10/2008 20:16

I got a baby

crankytwanky · 16/10/2008 20:20

I got diddly-squat. Mind you, this was from the man who got me a tax-disk holder for valentines day that cost £2.99. (I know how much it cost because I was there and I paid for it. We had spent our anniversary in Halfords too, funnily enough.)
I have since hinted at a beautiful topaz and diamond ring I have seen and can't justify buying myself. Blue for a boy and all.

crankytwanky · 16/10/2008 20:22

Yes Giddykipper, that's what DP says when I mention it.

lilymama · 16/10/2008 20:51

I got nothing- my dh couldn't wait to get back to his 3 ds's from his 1st marraige! Happy days

beansontoast · 16/10/2008 20:51

i bought myself a rug...which ds can have if he ever wants it.

may be i would have bought a piano (niiiice hatwoman)if i could have got it in my fiat panda?

KleineMaus · 16/10/2008 21:01

I got an ipod nano, which was sweet, with a note saying 'this should help you through labour, but I found I was in no mood for listening to music and since DS was born I've hardly ever left the house by myself, so have hardly ever used it! Might have preferred jewellery...

smellyeli · 16/10/2008 21:07

For DS - homemade chicken liver pate
For DD - a 400g bar of Dairy Milk

Very of all the jewellery and Radley bags but apparently it's the thought that counts.....

bikerunski · 16/10/2008 21:13

Nothing. We had been married for 5 years before I got an engagement ring, and even that was a birthday present, so what should I have expected? I did drop lots of hints about diamonds, but clearly not heavy enough!

FangolinaJolly · 16/10/2008 21:16

I got bugger all too!

weeamoomoo · 16/10/2008 21:22

the first time i got a lovely bangle.

the second time i got a lovely watch.

then he'd been saying for a while he wanted to get me an eternity ring but i felt we needed to spend the dosh on things in the house. however about 10 minutes after the 3rd one i told him i was definately getting a ring cos i so deserved it after that nightmare birth.
however i had to wait 6 months cos i pile the weight on when i'm cheggers and i only recently was able to get my engagement ring back on! anyway i got the eternity ring last friday! not very romantic mind you with children screaming in the background...

Was just complaining to dh that I got NOTHING for our ds but then he reminded me that I'd had diamonds set in a new wedding band for the occasion. (Feel really really mean cos the band wasn't quite what I'd wanted but wasn't his fault, was stupid jeweller who thought he knew better than me. Also was made in S.A so couldn't take it back to have it redone.)So am not only mean but terminally forgetful too. Thankfully dh seems to love me anyway.....
Why shouldn't we get a pressie? It's a special occasion, isn't it?

bandie · 16/10/2008 21:42

Nothing other than better orgasms......

jearund · 16/10/2008 21:45

Nothing for me either. This was DC2 so I dropped HUGE hints (as I'd hoped for an eternity ring after DC1) but nothing arrived. In fairness for DH to get me an eternity ring he'd have had to use the money we usually use to pay off the capital on our mortgage every month - as we don't have separate accounts it does making giving each other presents difficult! I've said that if he ever has the money and wants to get one for another occasion (eg future special anniversary) it would be a nice surprise - as we're not planning on having any more children.

And he is a wonderful husband and very supportive - I'd much rather have that than a husband who buys me expensive gifts but doesn't help me out practically with nappy changes, late night feeds, letting me get a nap in the morning while he takes the DCs, etc etc.

Would have been nice though!

Poncherello · 16/10/2008 21:48

I hinted and hinted about some nice diamond earrings ... even got as far as speaking to someone about getting them made ... then the offer was withdrawn as dh wanted to be able to spend more money on a bigger pair one day however ... out of the blue he did buy me the Sex & The City full series box set, seasons 4,5 and 6 of 24, This Life and Pride and Prejudice to get me through the hours and hours spent breastfeeding dd. It worked and I wonder what will happen when dd hears the 'ding ding' 'ding ding' of the 24 clock again ...?!

Poncherello · 16/10/2008 21:50

ooohh a beautiful bunch of flowers and a wispa ... wish they'd bring them back for good!

ushag · 16/10/2008 23:12

Nowt after both babies. Got funny look when I mentioned an eternity ring after 10 yrs married, after dd, and after ds. V grumpy dr damn near stitched me closed after dd (and the pain relief had worn of at this stage - owww) so I had to have a repair 6 months later. Got home from that and had to cook T. When I hit 40 I had the diamonds in the ring my Nan left me re-set into a band (original band had snapped). If I want a pressie I have o buy it myself, as well as ALL the pressies for everyone else. Even expects me to write out cards for HIS familly. He was/is crap at looking after kids too. Didn't change a nappy till dd was 18 months and only then cos his Ma told him too ! DH my arse

syskywalker · 16/10/2008 23:15

for no 1 dd i go special edition of constantine, as we went to see it in cinema and he knows how much i love keanu reeves and gavin rosdale(bush are one of my fave bands) and 2 weeks paternity leave with both of them and then a weeks worth of mother in law after that, so cant complain as it helped as i was poorly after both with cheltenham hospital treating me like shit and almost killing my little boy due to either neglicense or being incredibly stupid. and putting up with me changing buggies and and matching bags for them like my underwear, lol.

Oh and 2 beautiful children full of smiles, they looked like little dolls when they were babies. and at 20months and just over 3 years are the politest children ever, but thats my work, his job are pooey nappies at weekends as i just dont want to do them then being on my own all week.

Cadelaide · 16/10/2008 23:18

Some tired carnations from the petrol station, proudly brought in to the hospital by our older DCs.

I was chuffed to bits. What is all this "diamond ring" malarkey?

Did you all buy presents for your OHs then?
