even though dc hasn't actually arrived yet (overdue),i got an eternity ring for popping out dd (thinking my fanjo was on fire mmight have upped the spend limit on that one!!! ) but as we are officially skint i had mentioned previously to dh jewellery and the like was a no no now for our spending, but today when we were out mooching rould the shops, dh picked out a lovely huge slouchy radley bag, in a sort f pale petrol blue colour with a pale brown mustardy thick soft handle to sit on you shoulder!

Very yummy and i'm very happy with it! But can't have it til dc arrives!

It even came in a nice big boxy bag (not it's fabric protective bag but a radley shopping bag!!!!!
So, what did your dh get you to show their eternal thanks for popping out your dc?

Nowt!

berolina · 15/10/2008 08:25

After ds2 I had a ring made - a palladium band with a sapphire and a ruby set in in to represent the boys, with room for an extra stone should we have another (), and their names and dates of birth engraved inside. This was my instigation, however (and I suppose I paid, but then we don't have his money/my money, so again not really).

rookiemater · 15/10/2008 08:28

Ah, I had bought DH a copy of "The expectant father" or something similar. In this there was mention of present for partner after birth. Made mention of this often. Got a lovely Clarins, post baby pampering session.

Flossish · 15/10/2008 08:30

I got an eternity ring after lots of 'gentle nugging' with DS.

With DD, no gentle nudging but a huge box of Lush stuff which I couldn't use for ages due to DD ripping me!

scrappydappydoo · 15/10/2008 08:35

I got some maternity pads - but i had asked him to pick some up so not sure if it counts. I mentioned this to him the other day and he was really shocked that hubbies would buy things for their wives who had given birth cos 'you have the baby'
I am very of all who receive pressies for them as well as for the baby

MarshaBrady · 15/10/2008 08:39

Sod all.

I didn't even know people did this.

I know now thanks to mn!

Kaybeeand2boys · 15/10/2008 08:48

Nothing here, he didn't even make it to ds2's birth
Have been dropping hints about nice eternity ring since before ds1's birth but still waiting. We are emigrating in a month so guess I will be waiting for a while yet!

ipodtherforipoor · 15/10/2008 08:51

I got "left" - which considering wht a dick he was at the time was the best prsent a girl could have wished for!

Did buy myself a nice ring with blue stone though with the proceeds of selling my engagement ring.

handbagqueen · 15/10/2008 08:51

I made sure DH knew the 'rules' before the birth of DDs - diamond earings for DD1 and Ruby and diamond ring for DD2.

eandh · 15/10/2008 08:56

My dh bought me qn eternity ring after dd1 arrived and a diamond necklace after dd2 (although was joint xmas present!)

MIL gave me some expensive wonderful smellies so that when I was home and my scars had healed (had 2 elective sections) I could relax in the bath and pamper myself (quite because its not something she would normally do)

My Mum got me lovely flowers when dd1 was born and when I came home from having dd2 she bought dd1 home (she'd stayed with my parents)I got a lovely boquet of flowers from 'dd1' (aka my parents) she also bought me new pj's each time as I was fed up of my maternity pj's

stroppyknickers · 15/10/2008 08:57

hmmm. maternity pads, egg mayo sandwich, deodorant but think ring got lost in carrier bag...will remind him as soon as we have some money.

stroppyknickers · 15/10/2008 08:58

ohhhh i am a forgetful cow. i have a links charm bracelet and got charms for the first two. need to get more, might ask for xmas.

TheMadHouse · 15/10/2008 09:04

You know what I got the two most wonderful children out of the event and I am happy with that.

I already had an eternity ring, diamond earrings etc

DH is a fab husband and wonderful dad and just being around and trying hard is fine by me......

Oh and he went and got me an indian after each

I know of people who got push presents and I found it all a bit showy

nuclear · 15/10/2008 09:18

big bunch of flowers after delivery

and then when i could walk again after my stitches healed he took me shopping for a ring.

this time???

who knows don't expet enaythin tho think he did more than his fair share last time.

he is a great hubbie

PavlovtheWitchesCat · 15/10/2008 09:20

Egg sarnie when I came home and a bottle of champagne.

schneebly · 15/10/2008 09:21

When I had DS1 my DH put a notice in the local paper to tell everyone how much he loved me and how thankful he was to me for giving birth to our son.

PavlovtheWitchesCat · 15/10/2008 09:21

I did not expect anything though to be honest, did not even realise husbands/partners were supposed to buy presents for their other halves .

smugmumofboys · 15/10/2008 09:22

A big fat sparkly nothing.

Twice.

FoghornLeghorn · 15/10/2008 09:22

Before reading this thread I'd just like to say I have 'popped out' 3 DD's in quite a short space of time and I have absolutely naff all

CatIsSleepy · 15/10/2008 09:25

erm...nowt
but i wasn't expecting anything really so wasn't bothered
are husbands supposed to do this now?

chequersandchess · 15/10/2008 09:26

Nothing, wouldn't expect him to.

Mind you, I didn't 'pop out' DD. Perhaps he bought something for the Dr who wrenched her out with forceps

ninja · 15/10/2008 09:26

bugger all - first time round he told me he was very proud of me, this time he told me his back ached 'cos I'd leaned on him during labour!! He keeps telling everyone how easy it was this time (probably 'cos he spent the whole time in the kitchen making tea and snacks for the midwife - not really )

Pinkjenny · 15/10/2008 09:26

I got a very big diamond. I have to say though, it wasn't really his idea. I gently persuaded him.

ExtraFancy · 15/10/2008 09:26

My DH got me an antique moonstone necklace - didn't cost much but is treasured

BTW he didn't buy it because he was 'supposed to' - we didn't even know it was a tradition. He got it because he wanted to say thankyou for doing all the hard work!

sagacious · 15/10/2008 09:28

A dominos pizza and a copy of closer magazine
And was much appreciated
