Hello everyone, old and new.

This is about feeling better about yourself and looking and feeling better etc. But mainly we chat and laugh quite a lot, which has all got to help towards happiness etc.

The rules (anyone can join):

  • Sunscreen at all times

  • No or little booze. Wine or Champagne or whatever at the weekend is allowed if you want it

  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can

  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day

  • Apply body cream as often as possible

  • Use hand cream

  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos

  • Eat healthily

  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Some people are doing India and Neris's Idiot Proof Diet (Atkins, more or less), others are doing Slimy World, others are just being as healthy as possible.

Welcome everyone, have a good week.

Sorry all - the cake went to my mum, who as good as ripped the box out of my hands

I feel very virtuous, though Halo

Have just had my taco-less tacos. They were...ok.

Will get out the handcream tonight, promise. Have got a major deforestation issue to tackle tonight too, as friend is treating me to a spa day to celebrate my qualifying, which is lovely, but it does mean showing bits of me to strangers...

WWW - I still have those rages. Bedtime routine is closely followed by getting dcs ready for school on getting-me-to-scream-like-a-fishwife scale. Bet you have a fab job offer by Xmas.

JJ - I get very very bad pms and red mist moments but since I have been taking Magnesium Ok and evening primrose oil I am much much calmer (although it hasn't sorted out the pre-menstrual facial eruptions sadly). I really am truly impressed.

Was mildly relieved that the LHC didn't blow us all too oblivion but someone at work gleefully told me that it will take about 4 years before we are all sucked into some black hole (she's seen my wardrobe then...). Apparently look out for the light over the Indian Ocean....it's the start of it .

I did get sucked into the Debenhams 20% off hole today and bought a Betty Jackson from Debenhams dress today - I feel very grown up. Now all I need is for the weather to get colder so that I can wear it with opaques and boots.

I have no idea what email I registered under so cannot get my number (is going into the reg details the only way to get it?). I joined in 2003, so does that mean I have reached 'middle youth' yet?

Appt was ok. The practice nurse really is lovely. When the GP asked her how I was, she passed on to him just how much the bitch pharmacist upset me. He is in agreement for me to attempt to control the diabetes myself in the first instance.

Urine sample showed no glucose (had smear, so they automatically ask for sample), so at least I'm not leaking glucose all over the place. (eww that sounds icky!)

BP still raised, but can't do 24 hr monitor until next week now, which is a bit of a pita, then a few days after that, another appt with GP.

Most impressed with the walking www. I love walking home from school (not impressed with the walk UP to school though).

  • Sunscreen yy
  • No booze
  • 30 mins ex bike, plus 90 mins walking
  • Lots of water/weak tea
  • Apply body cream - lax
  • Use hand cream - yy. Must do feet.
  • Go to bed early - 11pm last night!
  • Eat healthily - yes.
  • Be happy. Hmm. DH has told the Head about my diagnosis, and I'm not impressed as he waltzed across to me tonight and said something about it in front of several other parents. But I'm not ready to talk about it yet (in RL that is, you've had it all on here) and I just walked away from them both.

In fairness to DH, the Head knows us both well, we socialize with him/wife regularly, and he too has diabetes, so I don't think either of them realised how touchy I would be.

Now I need to go and apologise...

Ah sorry to hear that ureb re head.

Walked to school to collect children this pm and will do same tomorrow, so have walked, well, strolled really, for an hour today.

Am drinking wine again (in moderation last night and will be again tonight) but today hasn't been bad food wise

scrambled egg and bacon
smoked salmon and boursin wraps
chorizo and cambozola
more cambozola and chorizo
a couple of smears of anchovy paste from the tube
about to have duck breasts prob with raw spinach

am having fantasies about beinga sahm as you may have seen from other thread.

Feeling ok except haven't spoken to dh AT ALL today as he left at 7am and came to school meeting at 6 (we drove there sep as he came from London training) and had to do homework when he came in and so I've put kids to be and NOW he's on phone to his dad and he wants to be in bed by 9 as he is knackered from commuting to London (yeeeeeesss, I know, I have done it for a YEAR MATEY) so I reckon I'll get 2.5 seconds of his time.

Still, Hadron thing hasn't blown us yet so we should all be grateful hey? lol at Indian ocean, there are worse place to be when it all goes wrong

batters - big hooray for a nights sleep!

ureb - delighted that you're not leaking glucose.

arfishy - yes to the 'nonchalant plan'. Form captain/head girl is exactly the sort of thing I say.

www - trainers in the car strategy is very good.

I had my hair cut & coloured today so feel good about that but still feeling hefty. I need to put eye-watering chemicals in friends pool tomorrow so will swim whilst I'm there - if DH can have Archie for an hour then it will be a totally child-free swim. Woo-hoo!!

Too busy for breakfast or a proper lunch today - half a bag of Wotsits and an apple really isn't good enough. Catalan chicken, rice, parmesan bread & salad for dinner.

Now I'll have a quick look at www sahm-fantasy thread before sewing nametapes into swimming kit (which got missed when I did all their uniform, drat it!).

Evening all and hello to you Versdesociete, I was wondering where Krabbie had gone not so long ago I am member no 1316 so not as old as you - I remember your FIRST posting name though - and a resounding 315 in MN years. And feeling every one of them after surviving a system upgrade at work today. After last Feb I take NOTHING for granted.
Good Slimyworld day too, have lost 1.5lb this week.
Slimming World, to give it its correct title, is a sort of low fat Atkins really - lean protein, plenty of fruit and veg, virtually no carbs or dairy. It's good - if you stick to it . Am feeling enthused again.
Would love the chilli recipe for SW "green" days though sobernow - these are when you can pig out on veg and complex carbs but eat little animal protein.
Well done on the walking www and fab news that you can give controlling your diabetes with just diet a whirl Ureb
Annie, hasn't that very school just hoovered up a local mediocre primary, guaranteeing places at the secondary for every child on the roll? We are doing open days etc for ds and can't even consider HA we are now so far out of catchment. Or are you nearer PS, my old school before it moved up the hill?
Glad dd slept better batters and that at least the preparations for the court case are proceeding OK saggars. I do hope it goes OK.
Had fortifying latte prior to computer Russian roulette but apart from that a good day for eating, drinking and walking.
Have entertaining SlimyWorld mag in which numbers of plucky ladies in their 40s shed bazillions of kgs and don't develop bingo wings, so there is hope for us all
Am thinking about anything rather than a light over the Indian Ocean...

Hi everyone
Have skimmed thread.

We've moved (did I already tell you that?) Dd has started new school. Things are gradually coming together. Stress telling on me a bit.

Good wishes to all, especially those with health worries.

moonshine - do you take them all the time or just when the mist starts descending?

I am falling behind on the thread and on my gym visits. My knee is twinging and I am very nervous about doing too much at the moment. Or at least that's my excuse. Plus am waiting for JL delivery as our poor vacuum cleaner gave up a few weeks ago. And it's raining.

Did not do so well last night. Went out and a huge steak with bread and blue cheese butter (oh so good) to start and then dessert as well. It was very very good though.

Hopefully you will be out from under the mushroom cloud of uni assignments though soon eh FallenMadonna? Sincerely hope you are sleeping it off now but I bet you aren't.
LOL at sobernow - hope you have fouffed up your hair and ladled on some mascara...
Eemie - v. good to hear dd is settling in well I think one often feels illest and most stressed about these major upheavals once the busiest time is over - you relax a leetle and kaboom, in come the viruses.
Annie, I have friends in Charlton whose dcs went to HA - that would not happen now . Secondary provision in our part of SE London is a real worry isn't it. We dodged the issue by moving out of Zone 2/3 and v. close to Bexley borders, but where we live is not a patch on our old stamping ground (Greenwich side of Blackheath, oh I miss it).
Have loads on so in haste - walking yy, water y, slightly frazzled start to day, onward and upward to all
Did someone say 17 October for a Bootcamp meet-up? All back to sobernow's for Credit Crunch Chilli!
