Do you think that this dress would look nice on me?

I am tall, well 5,10', I am curvy size 16 (ie 38E) and I have shoulder length blond wavy hair.
I am going to a super-cool wedding and I have a very limited budget. So would I look like Bet Lynch in that dress?

yes see I don't think any of them would be good for me, but I think they could be excellent on someone else.

I was drawn to the cream but agree the red is a obv choice. and obvious too.

ahundredtimes · 24/07/2008 23:05

I'm brunette too

I don't even know what I like half the time. I mostly wear black, and then sometimes I throw in a bit of white, just for variety.

ExterminAitch · 24/07/2008 23:05

the purple is nice but silk satin would be a disaster on middle age spread.

hoxtonchick · 24/07/2008 23:07

courtney is v nice. but i couldn't wear it with my colouring i think.

ahundredtimes · 24/07/2008 23:08

Ah! Yes, that's perhaps what I don't understand.

Where has Carm gone. Is she buying it do you think? Shall I buy it?

I bought a weird, weird thing the other day. A sort of heavy, dark Kaftan with silk bits.

Actually, I don't even know why I come on these threads. I'm useless really. I just like things, but mostly they are white shirts or things in Vogue which I would never wear and have never worn.

perhaps I should get my colours done, and get a grip.

maidamess · 24/07/2008 23:10

I refer the honourable gentleman to the answer I gave some moments ago

ExterminAitch · 24/07/2008 23:10

see i think if you can wear a white shirt crisply and cleanly then you probably are rocking your look, 100x, and shouldn't aspire to anything else.

white shirts crumple and grey within three feet of me...

ahundredtimes · 24/07/2008 23:11

But wouldn't everyone die from boredom?

ExterminAitch · 24/07/2008 23:12

yep, i saw that maidamess. it's really nice but a bit... sensible. for me. i like things a little bit more twisted.

ahundredtimes · 24/07/2008 23:12

Oh sorry, that was about the blue pleated dress.

I try Aitch. I like a good cuff. I have been looking at Mary Portas' white shirts, and she's doing it better than me I think.

I have explored the tank top option. I branched out into purple recently.

I'm a bore actually. And badly dressed

harpomarx · 24/07/2008 23:13

can I just ask you lot - do you actually buy all your clothes on the internet?

I am completely unable to buy clothes without trying them on. Several times. Then putting them by and casing all the other shops in town just in case there is something better round the corner.

And no, I am not indecisive.

Or am I.

ExterminAitch · 24/07/2008 23:14

MP does that look brilliantly, i think. i don't have that type of figure, can't do tailoring really. am a bit soft of feature for it i think.

ExterminAitch · 24/07/2008 23:14

you are indecisive, harpo, i think. you just send it back if you don't like it. (or take it back to the shop, more often).

maidamess · 24/07/2008 23:15

You see boredom,I see classic frock which can be trendied up as appropriate. And I don't buy stuff online really, just look at whats in the shops so I can dash in and dash out when I do get the chance.

Carmenere · 24/07/2008 23:16

Nope haven't bought the Uttam one yet, not sure about it on me, I would love to try it on.

The thing about that shape on me Maida is that it makes me look more 50's housewife than Deeta Von Teese. the shape is really frumpy on me unfortunately.

harpomarx · 24/07/2008 23:16

I just can't be bothered with the taking/sending back thing Aitch. And I luurve actual real shops too much.

ahundredtimes · 24/07/2008 23:17

No, I don't buy that much on-line. I only started through MN actually.

I'm the wrong shape for clothes I think. They don't hang right.

I like coats though.

hoxtonchick · 24/07/2008 23:18

i think aitch's uttam one might be too short.

ahundredtimes · 24/07/2008 23:18

Right. So are we're not really any closer are we Carm?

I'll go and have a look about.

ExterminAitch · 24/07/2008 23:20

ach, just get it, you twit. if you do a bit of googling i'm sure you'll find a code for 10% off and i think del is next day and free.

thing about the photo i linked to, btw, is that i notice that she has the belt in a blousy big bow to the side. i wound it round myself once before tying it in a knot. i think it's less fussy that way, but the wide belt also breaks up the tum a bit.

what colour? (the green )

ExterminAitch · 24/07/2008 23:21

yes, hc, that is my one concern. i'm average sized and it was over my knee. you'd just have to order it and find out, carm.

S1ur · 24/07/2008 23:21

is this any good for you or pants?

maidamess · 24/07/2008 23:22

Slur, thats lovely. Top spot!

Carmenere · 24/07/2008 23:24

Um I have reasonable legs, bit chunky but in proportion, but I suppose I can get away with over the knee.

They only have the red and black left in the large, which one would you go for?

Carmenere · 24/07/2008 23:26

I love that Slur, tis over budget though
