Just pondering really.
Why do so many British women dye their hair blonde?
As opposed to other nations such as Italians or French women?
I see so many women with dark roots and yellowing hair. It’s so obviously dyed. Yet when I travel to say France, the women there are more likely to stick to a natural look. Dying their hair brown rather than blonde if they do dye it
I don’t think you can say it’s because British women have blonde hair because it so obviously isn’t blonde!
Do people think they look better, with black roots? Just because you might have been blonde as a child doesn’t mean you are now.
To be fair I have dyed my hair blonde in the past. Looking back I don’t think it really suited me, made me look washed out and pale.
It was definitely of a time where blonde hair, blue eyed, white, thin women were considered the beauty standard.

Can't speak for France or Italy but I was in Croatia recently and saw many local women with dyed blonde or highlighted hair.

I live in Ireland and I can confirm it is also very common here to dye one's hair blonde so I disagree that it is just a British thing.

She didn’t mention white in the OP? So it’s quite strange that you what to bring race into it . Seems as you’re the one assuming only white women can be British ? .

I actually have a french friend who is naturally I suppose a mid to dark blonde. But she highlighted her hair and did balayage in the past. So do 2 of her friends, highlighted their hair. One has gone back to her natural colour. So that’s bollocks your blanket statement about all French women wanting natural hair colour.

I know users will be deliberately obtuse about this in the name of political correctness, but I'm not. It is very obvious she is referring to white British women.

I had white blonde hair as a young child then as I aged it went to dark blonde mousy. It always lightened in the sun though. In my teens I had highlights and in my 20s I had highlights, copper red and my natural colour. Now I highlight the hell out of it and love it.

I never dyed my hair blonde until the number of greys meant it needed dying fortnightly, blonde highlights means I can just get it done every 2-3 months

People are very strange about blonde hair in general. My natural hair colour is a streaky mid blonde in the summer and a dark blonde in the winter (because my hairdresser cuts off the bits that went lightest in the summer). However, I've been told on here that I cannot describe myself as blonde (I am not putting a picture up).

Re dyed hair - badly dyed hair will often look awful. A full blonde is expensive and will take a long time to do - so the roots show because the person cannot face getting it done every eight weeks. However a black or dark brown dye job will often show white at the scalp. You probably only notice the dye jobs that aren't done often enough.

I dye my hair some very… unnatural colours, and do definitely have roots between appointments. I honestly don’t care and it’s too expensive to get it done more often.

I think on I suppose a lot of “traditional British” skin tones blonde is quite flattering rather than darker tones. But I think the main reason is this PP’s comment. They want to, it’s fun, it makes them feel nice. Who cares?!

Just wanted to say as someone who has a very boring, but quite important corporate job, and pink hair, it absolutely can suit the career you want and I think you should dye yours blue/purple again! ☺️

I can honestly say I NEVER see blondes with black roots. 😆 Nor do I ever see anyone with yellowing hair. And it's not just British women who have blonde hair!

I have my hair done blonde (medium blonde) as I dislike my boring (IMO) mousy blonde colour. Although it goes a bit lighter (in colour) in the summer, it's still not the colour I want it.

Pic 1 is what my natural mousy blonde hair colour looks like. Pic 2 is the colour I have my hair done. And I never have black roots! 😬

And before someone says they prefer the colour in Pic 1. I don't. And it's my hair.

I think the blonde bashers are jealous of us blondes.

Because it is about race. Is it typically white people or people of colour in the UK that have naturally mousy brown hair? If she had made a post saying "why do African and Jamaican women dye their hair blonde, it looks so unnatural with the black roots, as opposed to their French and Italian counterparts who don't do this and look much better" I doubt it would have gone down very well, would it? She would probably have the police at her door, and this comment will likely be removed for even saying it hypothetically.

But she didn't, she said British women, typically born with mousy brown hair, who may have been blonde when they were younger, and literally stated that "blonde white women with blue eyes" used to be the beauty standard - because that's who she's talking about.

As predicted in my last reply, you're being deliberately obtuse in the name of political correctness; hilarious given that the post your defending is quite clearly aimed at a specific ethnic group - that is not an assumption, it's reading between the lines. Other users have also noticed. But laugh harder, I guess.

Not to mention the fact that lots of women intentionally have a shadow root added. I think this post is such obvious ragebait idek why I've bothered commenting tbh
