New thread and it's welcome to the roaring twenties beauty addicts!

It's been a little quiet on the exciting edit and beauty releases front what with all the advent malarky but summer is drawing to a close and soon those autumn/winter releases and holiday edits will be popping up to tempt us.

If you're new here welcome and hello and for everyone else nice to see you back on Mumsnet's most tempting thread series that you cannot ignore even if you want to. 😈😍😂

Boots recycling only take 'hard to recycle' items which contain multiple materials, so shampoo is out as they can just go in household recycling.
They take blister packs from antihistamines and also bassets chewy vitamins, which are always on 3 for 2.
They don't seem to take perfume or nail varnish though, which I find a bit odd as they're definitely hard to recycle and appear in their beauty boxes

ClutteredPalace · 20/08/2026 11:05

My Ilia pencil sharpener and free eye stylus shadow stick turned up. I like the stick, it's a good colour for me. However, I did think the box was heavy for two small items when I picked it up and when I opened it, there is also a true skin serum foundation in there. I definitely haven't ordered it or paid for it, its about one shade too dark for me. It wasn't one of the free gifts was it? I'm not sure how else it got there.

Sounds like a happy accident. Shame about the shade.

Thank you for the new thread! So fast moving 😮🩷 @OvaHere

ClutteredPalace · 20/08/2026 11:28

@OvaHere I think it must be. I've gone back through my emails and there's no mention of it. I can make the shade work, especially with a slight tan. I've just tried a small amount, it's not as dark as it looks once applied and I really like the texture. This more than makes up for me missing the wash bag last time!

Weird, I’ve just rejoined the queue and it’s put me back at 10,000 even though when I reached the front of the queue last time it said they were sold out. There’s going to be a lot of disappointed people.

Edited

I tried again today and joined the queue at 6000 so knew I had no chance. I have been very fortunate and one of the lovely ladies I know through a Facebook group has offered me her guest ticket so delighted with her generosity and that I will still be able to go.

IlovePond · 20/08/2026 11:42

That’s lovely @MrsBnow12

I didn’t get an email notification and I was doing something at 10am so completely forgot about Sephoria.

£95 was bonkers for a ticket, anyway imo! I am looking forward to hearing about it from you all, though and am prepared to be very jealous!

@BakeOffRewatch @Cyclingmummy1 @Insuffishcakes Thanks for the recycling info 🙂
How strange that you can recycle shower gel bottles but not shampoo bottles (annoying as I kept loads 😅).
How does it work with minis, blister packs, face mask packets - are they classed as 1 item or do you need to do multiple for it to count as 1? As in, I know you need to recycle 5 at a time, but does there need to be more if it’s minis/packets?

Also, can you please remind me how many deposits you can do per month?

I don’t think there is a monthly limit. But you can only get one voucher per day. Once I’ve done two deposits on the same day and only got first voucher, then looked into T&C ☹️
I do mine once a week on regular basis 😊

IDontKnowWhatYouMean · 20/08/2026 11:57

I believe you can do one ‘beauty’ recycling and one blister pack recycling per day. Both vouchers (500 beauty and 100 blister) can then be used on the same transaction to get 600 points. At least, that’s what the person on the check out told me, last time I used a 500 point voucher.

IlovePond · 20/08/2026 11:58

@Thelifeofawife the limit used to be 8 times a month for the Boots recycling. However, it might have changed as I couldn’t find any mention of limits on the Boots site.

There is a limit. A maximum of 8 reward vouchers can be issued to an account within one calendar month. Someone here said you can claim 2 reward vouchers in a day but only if one is beauty and one is blister packs, but the terms say it’s 1 a day so I’m not sure if that still works.

user593 · 20/08/2026 12:02

Actually scrap what I’ve said above, it looks like the beauty and blister pack rewards run alongside each other. So it’s 8 beauty rewards in any calendar month and 4 blister packs rewards in any calendar month. I assume then you can do one of each in one day. The minimum spend on the blister packs is also lower, £5.

IDontKnowWhatYouMean · 20/08/2026 12:02

This is from the app:
For Health Beauty and Wellness - you can only receive 1 voucher reward per day and up to 8 voucher rewards will be given in a calendar month.
For Blister Pack - you can only receive 1 voucher reward per day and up to 4 voucher rewards will be given in a calendar month.
Each deposit must contain a minimum of 5 approved items in 1 deposit to qualify for the reward.

Thanks for the correction. It’s a great scheme. It got me regularly shopping at Boots for all beauty essentials, so it must be beneficial to them as well.

IDontKnowWhatYouMean · 20/08/2026 12:10

Re Boots again:
They accept the little minis from beauty boxes/advents, and with the blister packs they accept the cheap 35p paracetamol/ibuprufen from supermarkets.
I’ve only ever had one thing rejected (they said it was a standard size shampoo when it was a mini) - I uploaded it again and it was accepted.

It is! I struggle with the £10 spend though. I’m very well stocked for baby wipes at the moment and have 25 beauty items and 10 blister packs waiting to be recycled

Unfortunately I buy my DC a specific brand of nappy which isn’t available at Boots otherwise I’d be made!

Ooh that's fab. Is that for the Gold session? We'll be at the same one. Hopefully we'll have time to say Hi. Could be too crazy though - don't quite know what to expect.

Ah, I see. Well if you need ideas, I often buy essential things like deodorant, toothpaste, mouthwash, hand wash, soap, body lotion, shampoo & conditioner, contact lenses liquid, eye drops, vitamins, hair accessories, The Ordinary, Korean skincare. Once a week for me is a sweet spot where I am genuinely running out of something 🙂 and I find that Boots have a wide range of brands and price points to choose from so I’m happy with options. I noticed that their prices tend to be a bit higher than online, but voucher compensates for the difference.

It is for the gold session, we also have no idea what to expect and hopefully we can meet each other after the event to say hi and meet in person. I introduced her to our little corner of mumsnet recently so wont take her in case she wants to keep it quiet but fully expect she will become a regular poster

Wow your memory is amazing! I bet you were always winning that game of spot the missing item off the tray. Here’s the original contents https://beautycalendar.com/revolve-ultimate-beauty-vault-2025/ £319. Yup just that one item Vintner’s Daughter cleanser missing.

sunscreen season is over and I bought the Ouai deodorant. I went through my stash (a modest one drawer in one of those 3 drawer plastic storage things) and I have so many mascaras, sunscreen and mini cleansers. Still interested in AoS and the box though. Cult Beauty works better for me with the points system I think. I couldn’t get past them trying to sell a discontinued electrical item as part of the high RRP.

CONTENTS (December 2025)

@Thelifeofawife i don’t think you can recycle shower gel bottles unless they’re minis

@OvaHere sorry I didn’t reply re the Dior gift. I don’t think you need to make a purchase, you can just collect it (I asked in John Lewis but didn’t get it at the time).

Thanks. Are you getting one? It is tempting but that's a good chunk of the money towards paying for the CB advent which I'd rather have. I could have both but I'm trying to exercise more restraint this year. 😂

I have other pulls on my purse strings this year, but I’m still enjoying the beauty chat. It would make sense for me to get the revolve ultimate beauty at £160 for the AoS daily firming treatment (£119) and the etoile box (£98) - accounting for 20% off the purchase price would be £173.60 without all the extra stuff.

Lisa Eldridge restocked the Marilyn Deluxe box and I’d prefer that thought it’ll probably sell out before I decide to buy it. £240 https://www.lisaeldridge.com/products/marilyn-monroe-deluxe-makeup-collection
