New thread

Guidelines
I'm starting this first one but hoping that when a thread looks close to ending another thread member can set the next one up. This is not working out so well. 😂

To avoid duplicate threads please try to post in the thread that's ending to alert everyone you're setting up a new one.

Other members check who was first to offer and whether a new one is live.
It might be an idea to keep a list of advents that are live in the OP and later on which are sold out. This can be copy/pasted/edited when a new thread is started.

It probably goes without saying but please be courteous and patient with each other. This thread will have spoilers and please no judging of others for their purchasing choices. Participation in the threads is optional.

Yy I was v surprised to see bovine collagen
in in that one,

Sold their souls to the devil eh? I guess companies just jump on whatever bandwagon they think is most popular these days ro make a quick buck amd the ethics all just go out of the window. Collagen I'm guessing is a multi million pound bandwagon.

It's off the cards for me too. Don't really fancy owt in anyway, it tbh.

Thelifeofawife · 05/08/2026 11:39

A little late to the party but just looked at the Sephora BAC and now I’m in trouble because I want that too!

I wanted the ethereal palette so was excited but then realised it’s the moonlight one, however, having looked at it properly, the colours will work for me.

Sorry if I missed it but does anyone know how much that one is?

RainbowZebraWarrior · 05/08/2026 11:42

TrappedPotato · 05/08/2026 09:57

Thanks. I was wondering if I’d be able to buy as they may not know I’m from the UK iyswim.
JL was my first BAC two years ago, but I wasn’t keen last year. Will weigh the two up today lol. The skincare in Harrods may swing it for me but I do like the look of the little device in JL!

I also rather like the look of the little device. It only has one review so far, but its a glowing one (pardon the pun!)

i am just waiting for my TopCashback voucher to come through so I can pre order the darned thing.

Thing is, they always throw in an Augustinus Bader product or La Mer which puts the value right up, though it’s usually too expensive for more people to buy outside of advent calendars. Then there will be some Ordinary or Inkey stuff to balance it out.

I'm ok with them doing this in calendars. I like to try out the more expensive stuff that I can't afford to blind buy, but understand that it does need to be balanced out. Unfortunately for us, it can't be 25 days of high value products. Maybe one day 🤣 I prefer this approach then a lot of products around the £40 mark 🙂

I always take the advertised value with a pinch.of salt. The value is how much the individual items can go for on ebay!

I agree. There’s no way I’d have ever bought AB or La Mer if I hadn’t tried them in BACs first. To be fair, I’ve only repurchased off Vinted (ensuring the seller has other calendar items for sale too), as I still can’t bring myself to pay full price, but I love that I can still dabble in these little luxuries.
I think it was SNK who had The Ordinary glycolic acid last year, and I was happy with it because I’d wanted to try it after seeing it recommended for other areas of the body. Yes it’s only cheap, but it saved me buying it separately just to try it.

Nothing that makes my heart beat faster there but it’s amazing value for £45.

🤣 Yeah, the resale value is a lot less for some stuff. Last year, I got the spacenk calendar quite early in the day, so I was one of the first to get the items I didn't want on vinted, meaning that I was able to get a good resale value on them. I've said that I'm not doing a Frankenstein this year, but I don't even believe myself 🤪

Me too, but for me the value is how much I'd actually have spent on the items that I'd actively purchase from the calendars. Also I rarely buy without a 10-20% discount, so need to take that into account too.

I think I've realised I find the reveals more fun than the actual buying, opening and using! I've never had Sephora or Selfridges but have seriously considered both in the past, so if they're good... who knows.

I'm always baffled as to why US calendars are so poor seeing as it's undoubtedly the No1 country for bigger and better. I vaguely recall we had this discussion last year and came to the conclusion that advent calendars in general aren't such a core thing over there.

Message Trump on Truth Social. He’ll sort them out.

Might be a 25-doors-of-fake-tan calendar, though...

But they would be the biggest and bestest fake tan ever. Everyone is telling him that. There’s never been such amazing fake tan before.

https://beauty-detective.com/macmillan-advent-calendar-2026/

Macmillan Advent. Currently half price on Boots for a limited time.

That's great value if you buy it as an edit. I don't think I'd be too excited if I used it as a calendar and got a cloth behind a door or yet more eyelash curlers (my personal bugbear)

Fleecy · 05/08/2026 13:32

The Space Nk box looks lovely. I'v enever had CB or SNK before because I haven't liked the boxes, so both are on my radar this year. Will wait for more info before deciding between them and F&M. I had Jarrolds 12 day one last year and that was nice but revealed quite late. Not sure I'll be able to resist the temptation to order a second calendar before Jarrolds reveal theirs!

SheilaFentiman · 05/08/2026 13:41

Via BD - Up to 50% off a variety of calendars at Boots including 17 and Nivea.

ETA might buy the Lynx one to break up for stocking presents

Keffert · 05/08/2026 14:16

I am NOT buying a calendar this year. But now I reeeeally want the F&M one. Especially as last year I saw it in store and it was way better than it appeared (to me) on paper. Someone put me off it please.

I’m also tempted by the Elle, I had it last year and it was brilliant, but I paid under £100 for it so it feels like a big increase. But bioeffect…

SheilaFentiman · 05/08/2026 14:32

Boots has a Lovehoney advent calendar also. For the natural flush Xmas Grin

SheilaFentiman · 05/08/2026 14:42

Hoorah! Bought the 17 calendar for me (£26), the Men's B+H calendar to break up for DC's stockings (£23) and then spent £6 on Boots Ingredients stuff (toner, sheet mask) to get a free lip gloss. Plus £4.50 of points on £45+ spend.

amazing #beautymaths at work!

ETA and now I have a calendar so can feel more relaxed about all the waitlists and stuff!

Thanks for flagging the Boots advent discounts, MaryBD - that has saved me a ton on stocking fillers :)

I've got it, meh, used a couple of times, sits in a drawer. I agree Foreo make well made products but I do have doubts about effectiveness. They so sell pads to go on it too which can be a cost but I did see people online making their own.

Addictedtobeauty · 05/08/2026 15:22

The Foreo UFO is the main draw for me in JL. The masks are an ongoing expense though. Can you use any other masks with it or does it have to be theirs? I have quite a bank of decent masks at home and this might encourage me to use them up. I also have vouchers to use, so would only cost £130 in real money.
