I'm starting this first one but hoping that when a thread looks close to ending another thread member can set the next one up. This is not working out so well. 😂

To avoid duplicate threads please try to post in the thread that's ending to alert everyone you're setting up a new one.

Other members check who was first to offer and whether a new one is live.
It might be an idea to keep a list of advents that are live in the OP and later on which are sold out. This can be copy/pasted/edited when a new thread is started.

It probably goes without saying but please be courteous and patient with each other. This thread will have spoilers and please no judging of others for their purchasing choices. Participation in the threads is optional.

Dithering over Harrods or JL as my first BAC, but will definitely be getting at least two. Waiting for SNK and have just joined the waitlist but I’ll be out of the country when it drops for pre-order. Will I still be able to order it?

I really like the box, it’s cute.

I told myself I’d definitely get Harrods & SNK unless there were a ton of DoDs, and either JL or HN. In reality I can see this going like last year where I end up with 4 or more (and that didn’t include FACs).

I keep looking at my current stash (all of the drawers that I filled a couple of months ago) and wondering how I can possibly use or fit in anymore stuff. I know we’ve got a few months until December but I won’t get through much even with all the layering 😅
I think I just got too carried away with the edits this year, so my stash is fuller than ever. I didn’t have the same concerns last year as I think I only bought the Boots cosmo edit and a couple of Elemis sets before advent season.

I have sold off a lot of stuff that I won’t use. Perhaps I should also put aside the bits that I’ll gift people for Christmas so it’s less overwhelming; though in reality that won’t include face creams/serums.

They are both good ones. I always felt that JL was a good starter calendar due to lower cost, but they have crept up over the years and are now not far off Harrods, which has more luxury brands.
That said, the JL is still a good one this year, particularly with the Foreo device. I’m still really keen on it but I’m going to wait until they are all released as I’ve already bought Harrods.

Don’t worry about being out of the country for preorder, they won’t get delivered until a few weeks later (could be even longer)

@MrsBnow12 im going to seriously consider the sephora one this year as dismissed it last year when it was actually really good. 🤦‍♀️🤣 and excited for space nk. ♥️

I always think of Sephora as more of a teenagers shop. I think because when I used to visit the one in Solihull years ago, it was always packed with teens so I never properly look at what it actually stocks. I need to get out of that mind set and look at the website.

JL was my first BAC two years ago, but I wasn’t keen last year. Will weigh the two up today lol. The skincare in Harrods may swing it for me but I do like the look of the little device in JL!

It didn’t for me either . Very annoying . I had to copy and paste my address from an email they sent me , which is exactly the same as the address I was inputting .

Is there usually a contents reveal before pre-orders open, to give time to consider the purchase?

I did have it last year but didn’t buy at launch.

They usually do a contents reveal later this month (think it was the19th last year) and they often give a few teasers before that

I’ve joined the SNK waitlist too. Very pretty box. But that palette in the Sephora calendar is very tempting too. Oh no….

It’s funny that the US Sephora calendars are notoriously shit (see Alexandria Ryan on Youtube) but the UK one is usually really good. Maybe they know that they have to up their game in the UK advent market.

I used to get the Holland and Barrett one but now they include animal gunk and tested on animals. That was their selling point really, being cruelty free and veggie. So no calendar again for me this year.

The countdown is for the content reveal. I don't think they've said when they'll take orders, I think it was the beginning of September last year.

Sephora having that palette is a bit of win for them. It's harder to stand out with so many options, but a full desirable brand palette...

Space NK does have a nice box this year - very festive. I have already got the Harrods fragrance and beauty calendar coming so I must try to avoid temptation 😵‍💫

I'm always baffled as to why US calendars are so poor seeing as it's undoubtedly the No1 country for bigger and better. I vaguely recall we had this discussion last year and came to the conclusion that advent calendars in general aren't such a core thing over there.

It's nice to know we excel in something though. 😂

But if it's good, it wouldn't be right to not buy it 🤪

Space NK is usually good. Last year it was released early September but there was still availability for a good few weeks.

It was a bit of a palava on launch day with people being sent emails at different times, and people who had signed up to the waitlists months before didn’t get an email to order until the afternoon.

The price for SpaceNK is £275 and has a reported worth of over £1,200.

Last year it was £260 with a reported worth of £1,150. So £15 more for an extra £50 worth.

Just found this thread. Thank you all the that have contributed. Currently looking at buying Space NK, Lookfantastic fragrance, glossybox, maybe boots fragrance. Not sure on others yet. Was planning on only get 2 this year and up to 4 already!

Oh yes, I can’t see it being an issue that you’re abroad, as long as your account has a UK registered address?

I agree the JL in 2024 was brilliant, so much so that I ended up buying a second off eBay! (It was a few months later, I think it cost me an extra £20)

Thing is, they always throw in an Augustinus Bader product or La Mer which puts the value right up, though it’s usually too expensive for more people to buy outside of advent calendars. Then there will be some Ordinary or Inkey stuff to balance it out.
