Just that really? What have you done that has really worked or that you can't go without? A product or habit or anything that you think has really helped you to look better. I am just in a bit of a rut and want some inspiration! Thanks!

  1. Buying far fewer clothes and spending a lot more on them instead - it makes me more critical about what I need and what needs to compliment my wardrobe
  2. Monthly micro needling - my skin just looks smoother and clearer
  3. No alcohol, ever.
  4. Using one of those green Japanese cloths every day on dry skin before jumping in the shower. Helps the glow.

A recent colour analysis and wardrobe assessment. I now understand why some things just don’t work for me.

Quitting alcohol

Floisme · Today 08:45

Giving up on dressing for my shape and all those infernal rules and 'don'ts'.

Doing those Facebook 'first thing in the morning' exercises - saving them and starting doing them.

Worldgonecrazy · Today 09:00

Exercise. Clothes fit better, I walk better and am more confident.

Putting thought into what to wear and not being afraid to wear what suits me rather than following fashion, at five foot and with proportionally short legs, the current loose wide leg trend looks ridiculous on me and visually shortens my legs further.

Avoiding ultra processed food.

Can I have a link to the cloths please? I bought one that you use in the shower but I don’t think it’s any good.

I love these threads for tips even though the no alcohol thing does deflate me a bit as like my red wine and be reluctant to give it up 😁

I always notice if someone has a good haircut and nice jewellery

FishPie2 · Today 09:22

Good hair cut, found a brilliant hairdresser who finally listens.
Wearing vibrant lipstick after years of pale ones.

Reducing the amount of clothes I own
Buying things that suit me rather than trying to keep up with trends
Embracing a largely neutral colour palette in my wardrobe so everything pretty much goes with everything
Well fitting underwear
Getting over my fear of lipliner!

Cyclingmummy1 · Today 09:35

Haircut and colour.

Brighter lipstick and blusher.

Choosing fewer clothes carefully (try The Curated Closet by Anouschka Rees).

'Actives' in skincare; sometimes I've no idea what they do but the samples of 'good' brands seem to keep me going.

Lovely jewellery; I've had a set of stacking rings made from my mum's rings, her aunt's wedding ring and some of my own unworn items (plus my own gorgeous sapphire ring) and they really lift my spirits and I feel my mum is with me all of the time.

Thedarkside1985 · Today 09:42

Moving from synthetic clothing to natural materials. The clothes hang better and look better. Incorporating vit c and retinoid into skincare routine has helped.

Buying a fantastic hair oil. I have long hair, and when I hit menopause it started getting really frizzy and breaking off. I got really embarrassed about it and considered having to go for the chop. Tried tonnes of products unsuccessfully and wasted lots of money. Then I found a hair oil which has brought my hair back to life. Pop it on 10 mins before I wash it, then I add 2 drops to my conditioner. Bliss. I love my hair again.

Thundertoast · Today 09:49

Drinking lots of water!!!
Staying (mostly) away from chocolate (devastating) because my skin cant tolerate loads of it
Invisalign
Fake tan
Learning how to blow dry my hair properly and use hair oil/leave in conditioner
Figured out what colour 'season' i am. This has made a MASSIVE difference to how much stress there is for me in getting ready in the morning. The rate of 'things not looking right' or 'i feel a bit blah today' has dropped dramatically.

Watching videos on make up tips for the over 50s and using them.
Lisa Eldridge skin tint. Amazing. Use it every day. A bottle costs £38.00 but lasts a year.
Lifting weights. Not huge ones. 10 minutes a day. Pulls it all in.
Wearing things that suit my shape. Maxi dresses with the tulip shape and wrap dresses to the knee make me look tall and slim ( I'm not tall I'm 5'4). Midi dresses immediately make me look short and like a rectangle.
Good quality fake tan properly applied.
Bras that fit
Regular haircuts and cours.
Dentist. I have straight teeth thanks to wearing a brace in the 1970s. I want yo keep them looking as good as possible.
Sleep. My husband snores. We have separate bedrooms for the sleeping part of the night.
HRT ( I'm 61). Estrogen gel in the morning. Progesterone tablets at night.Vaginal pessary 2x per week. I have found my libido. That's put a spring in both our steps.

Please tell which hair oil this is?

Mounjaro unfortunately. Life as a size 10-12 is much easier than life as a 18-20

My hair is beyond help but investing in a very simple skincare routine of quality products this was expensive trial and error though, and some minimal makeup products has helped.

also some cheap but decent at home clothing so scruffy clothes are a thing of the past.

realising that I am not a dress person and trousers are much easier to wear for me. that I have a very long body and short legs make dressing very difficult.

  1. Losing weight. 19lbs down so far and it's such a buzz when people say they can tell 😊
  1. Erborian Green CC creme - no need for foundation and my skin feels so much better!
EarringsandLipstick · Today 10:06
  1. Strength training (always exercised a lot, increased my strength work & took up Hyrox competitions, really love it & how I feel)
  2. Fake tan and slick backs (thanks teen DD!)
  3. Brow lamination
  4. Using (inexpensive) primer, serums, glow creams under my (more expensive tinted moisturiser / foundation but using this much more sparingly
  5. Heated round brush (not sure if that’s the correct name - the brush type ‘hairdryer’ you can use to finish off your hair after initial blow dry. It smooths or creates soft waves / curls, v easy. My hair is sort of curly / wavy so I’d either go full on curly which took effort or straighten & it would invariably end up frizzy once I was outside at all. I feel so much more groomed, hair looks sleek. I’ve had loads of positive comments. And it wasn’t expensive - I went for a Revlon one on offer in Boots, about €40 (so less in £)
Barethe · Today 10:06

losing weight
colour analysis
going back to my natural hair colour (with low lights) and no longer having any bleach in it at all which means the condition is now dramatically improved.
