Just that really? What have you done that has really worked or that you can't go without? A product or habit or anything that you think has really helped you to look better. I am just in a bit of a rut and want some inspiration! Thanks!

Haircut and colour.

Brighter lipstick and blusher.

Choosing fewer clothes carefully (try The Curated Closet by Anouschka Rees).

'Actives' in skincare; sometimes I've no idea what they do but the samples of 'good' brands seem to keep me going.

Lovely jewellery; I've had a set of stacking rings made from my mum's rings, her aunt's wedding ring and some of my own unworn items (plus my own gorgeous sapphire ring) and they really lift my spirits and I feel my mum is with me all of the time.

Can I ask how a set of stacking rings has been made from them?

LittleSoo · 26/07/2026 20:59

Green colour corrector for my rosacea so I can use less foundation/concealer, on a good day I just use the green.

Spending more on better clothes and not buying cheaper ones that lose shape quickly. I'm much pickier now too.

The process? I used a local jeweller who makes things in house.

I went with a 'mood board' and we discussed my ideas then they did several designs on the computer and made wax models. We then had a second appointment and refined the design.

Then they used the gold and stones to make up the rings. They are cut away under the settings so they sit together. I went back once the gold was cast to check the size and then the stones were set and they were polished.

I cried when I saw them.

There are some diamonds left which I'm going to have made into two more rings to add to the stack - for days when I'm feeling less bling 😆

A friend recommended the jeweller as she'd had her mum's diamonds made into a necklace. My SIL is now going to have my mum's ear rings remodelled.

🤣 thanks @CinderellaParker love it - good answer! 😍

minnowonthesay · 27/07/2026 07:56

@Dogladycrazy I bought this big coat last year from Tesco and it was my most worn coat (and I’ve got a few!) it’s great in the rain, lightweight but still warm, has a hood, and dare I say it, still actually looked fairly stylish!
For a shorter coat this year I’m thinking about getting this navy short peplum Parker from M & S for in and out of the car.

Thanks @minnowonthesay they’re both lovely 🥰

Skin wise, Renew and me prescription tret and the current body face mask. I don't actually wince any more when I look in the mirror.

Hair, Kerastase hair oil overnight before a wash.

thicklysettled · 27/07/2026 13:35

I've lost about 4 stone and had a breast reduction; my boobs went from a 42DD to a 38C - and they are both the same size 😂 Really life-changing.

I spend a lot of skincare; retinal, vitamin C, exosomes, estradiol, ceramides, peptides, the lot. Sunscreen on my face and décolletage every single day without fail. I don't take the bins out unless I have sunscreen on.

I rarely drink alcohol (something I thought I'd miss desperately) and every single day I eat a Mumsnet Massive Salad with LOTS of protein. Trying to cut down on sugar but it's a struggle.

I move my body every day. Walk the dog 2 miles and every evening I do something. Weights is my favorite- I follow the advice of Dr. Stacy Sims to Lift Heavy Shit and I can see the difference in my body composition already.

More than anything though, is an attitude shift. I'm worth it. I may not look like a supermodel but I look good, and I am worth the investment.

I am still unpacking boxes from a recent move and found two more products to add to my hair list. I can’t believe I forgot these as they are outstanding also. I especially love the Milk, which you squish through damp hair before styling, and the Mask is amazing also. I think I was concentrating on KBeauty, and these are from Japan - but so is the shampoo I recommended. Love them. They are both by Orbis. I recommend reading the reviews on YESSTYLE (because they have the most traffic) and then look at all other sites to find cheapest options for all of the things I have recommended.

Hi. I’m considering the Renew and Me Tret. Can you please tell me what it’s done for you? Thanks

Neuronimo · 28/07/2026 11:58

I'm on the lowest dose of tret and they have just changed it to Nightly Active treatment which is half the amount. I am a bit annoyed, but will stick with it as the reviews are positive. It has softened the lines around my eyes and mouth. You do have to avoid the eye area, but I go up as far as my cheek bones and that helps laughter lines. Most of my sun damage has lightened and my skin looked clearer within a few weeks. There is s noticeable difference in old photos, much less crepiness and I had a bag under one eye which has decreased a lot.

3 monthly botox
collagen medicube gel
high protein diet w/ collagen powder

Neuronimo · 28/07/2026 19:56

All of the medicube products are fab aren't they? I've been using the the zero pore exfoliation pads and just bought the pink peptide serum.

@TwoHoots74 Happy to share. I won’t share links because prices vary dramatically depending on where you are in the world & there are always sales on, but I promise I have tried all of these products - and you can hopefully find some things you like that suit your budget. Photo 1: Shampoo & Conditioned. Really basic, transparent, clean rinsing. No build up. I keep coming back to this one from Japan. (Cheap, giant bottle, refills available, fantastic.) Tsubaki Premium Volume & Repair. Alternate conditioner & thicker hair mask/treatment. Treecell Triple Bonding Treatment (mask) or Treecell Forte Ampoule (lamellar water type. Effective but definitely builds up). Elizavecca Cer-100 protein coating treatment. Not a bonding treatment exactly, but works similarly on my hair. Usually the cheapest and the lightest. Has become a cult product outside of Asia now. Photo 2: Treatment mists to rehydrate hair before drying. My two favourites are HAIR+ (aka HAIRPLUS if googling) Protein Bond Water Essence Kundal Protein Bonding Hair Mist Serum. Both products have different scents available. Leave-in treatment (pea-sized amount squished through the bottom prior to blow drying. The combo of the mist and this one is what has saved my hair, I think.) Lador Protein Bonding Treatment. (No Wash version. The wash out one is too heavy.) HAIR+ Protein Bond Ampoule. This is the lighter of the two, but you use a bit more. Then some hair oils. I literally use the tiniest drop through the ends after I dry it and before bed. These are all lovely. Elizavecca, Treecell, Anillo, Lador. They come in amazing scents. (The Lador one in Osmanthus which smells divine but is significantly heavier than the others.)
Hope that helps. If you want me to explain how & when I use them, technique, let me know.

I’ve ordered the shampoo and mist!

greenmarsupial · 28/07/2026 20:19

Mounjaro to lose 25kg and alongside have found a love of barre and strength training which has helped with my posture and confidence.

I do take a lot of supplements including collagen but not sure what is an improvement from that and what is my protein heavy but healthy diet!

I got ChatGPT to help me with colours and body shape. I’m sure an actual stylist would be a lot better but it’s been a great start for finding a colour palette and some guidance on what to look for on Vinted.

Where do you buy estradiol from? I have asked my GP for some but have to wait 2 months for an appointment to discuss it!

Keepthecat · 29/07/2026 07:26

Losing 3.5 stone since I retired. It changes how I feel about myself and I have a lot more confidence. It was and is expensive replacing everything, but I use Vinted a lot and am getting there. Losing weight has definitely been the single biggest thing.

Neuronimo · 29/07/2026 09:36

@ thicklysettled ·

It is about attitude isn't it? I honestly thought that I couldn't make changes and that my body was on an inevitable slide. I really have had to go from 0-60 with diet and exercise this year. Movement however small makes such a big difference.

I'm getting out early for a walk and working out at home. I'm gone from barely being able to get up from the kitchen floor to being able to run for 15 minutes on a treadmill and lifting weights. It has made such a difference mentally too.

WhatToWearMilan · 29/07/2026 10:05

Losing weight. Simple as that. It's made the absolute biggest difference to my style & beauty.

An unhappy worklife, hitting my 50s, feeling tired & giving in to the temptation of wine + takeaway all too often = finding myself a whopping 3 stone over my ideal weight for the first time in my life.

It took me a while to come to terms with it but a health scare motivated me late last year & i got serious about it & i've lost over 2.5 stones by cutting out crap & upfs & upping the good stuff

I am 7lbs from goal & i feel amazing.

I am loving clothes again & have found some fantastic bargains in the summer sales. Summer clothes were my nemises as i hated being so exposed & i just didn"t bother with them

I adore clothes & shoes / boots so i'm having a ball now in my mid 50s

Apart from that i get v regular cuts & colour & my hair is good.

I look after my skin & after a life time of spf50 + seeking shade (am pale ) i have very very few wrinkles

I adore clothes & absolutely know my body + style & i have some beautiful things that bring me great joy & fill me with confidence when i wear them

Grapewrath · 02/08/2026 23:19

The biggest difference for me was stopping dairy. I was a veggie for years and giving up dairy made me less congested and cleared up the dark circles under my eyes.
Also:
orthodontic teeth straightening- my whole face shape has changed for the better
lifting weights- I looked more toned and my posture is so much better
Eborisn cc cream instead of foundation
Botox
SPF
Decent sleep
Dressing for my body type, not the trends
Im absolutely no looker but I look better in my 40s than I did in my 30s and 30s due to not being up all night with kids and having the time to take care of myself

Fatbadger50 · 03/08/2026 08:24

@Grapewrath where did you get your orthodontic treatment done please, and do you mean Invisalign or fixed braces? Thanks

TealReader · 03/08/2026 11:51

Buying less and better. Spending most on my everyday clothes and least on occasion wear. Ignoring rules and wearing the colours and silhouettes I like. Taking good care of my clothes and shoes. Ironing. Not feeling the need to use fake tan, have my nails done regularly. Embracing my natural wavy hair. Considering letting it grey naturally now too. I have a simple skincare routine that works, keep my nails short but shaped and have a makeup routine that’s almost the same day to day.
