Sandals for 20k steps a day on city break

EverytimeItPours · Yesterday 09:59

i really can’t do trainers in very hot weather but I need something very comfortable for walking 20k plus steps a day. I’ve looked at Skechers, fitflop, teva but I think I need a recommendation. Has anyone found any with good arch support and very cushioned soles which might fit the bill?
I know there are lots of actual hiking sandals but I’d like something more attractive if possible

I like the Teva Hurricanes (has to be hurricane sole!) or the Keen Uneek. Both excellent and stylish while being a little bit ugly, which I like - not trying too hard to be a “pretty” shoe. Watching for other ideas with interest.

Also came here to suggest Keen walking sandals. So good!

Landrover sanders. They were amazing to hike in last summer on holiday when we did a lot of walking. Not the most stylish but very comfy.

I wouldn't recommend footware from mountain warehouse. I bought three pairs from them last year (sandals for me, sandals and trainers for my daughter). After less than three months of not daily use both of my daughter's were falling apart and mine were looking really tatty. None of her other shoes have worn through like that, nor come apart. I've gone back to the old pair from Hotter which have lasted about six years, and I've gone back to Clarks for her.

Completely agree, I wouldn’t recommend Mountain Warehouse shoes either. I bought some walking shoes from there last winter and they were horrible quality and some stiff, sharp material inside the shoe rubbed the skin off my toe and made it so painful.

I've been using FitFlops but the new strappy sandal ones, not the toe-post flip flop types as I need the sandal to be attached to my foot! Fantastic, not rubbed, not even once.

Same!
I had a painful knee that was miraculously fixed when I started wearing the trainer type fitflops in the winter so have bought the strapped sandals for city walking in summer. Not glamorous so wouldnt wear in the evenings but fine for walking.

Skechers Go-Walk every time for me! I had plantar fascilitus and it was horrific, so I have to be really careful nowadays, but I swear by these.

Hoka sandals are very good for support

I have the thin strap ones in sparkly colours and they look pretty much like all those lovely silver/gold sandals without the FitFlop bit- much more expensive though, I wear them out for dinner with wide-legged trousers or dresses and I think they look quite glamorous!

Another vote for FitFlops

I swear by my Teva’s. They are not the prettiest of footwear (the only ones they had available in my size at the time were lime green👀) but they are hugely comfortable, supportive, lightweight and haven’t once rubbed or caused any blisters (which is extremely rare with my high arched, narrow feet!).

This thread has been really helpful. I am really picky about sandals (I really hate ugly-looking footwear unfortunately) but the Hotter ones look very tempting indeed😄

I’ve been wearing these for the past few weeks, not tested them on a 20k day but I’m pretty sure they’d be ok. The leather is very soft, the sole is cushioned and they’re really lightweight. They come in regular and wide fit too..

I live in these Ecco sandals. I am on my 3rd pair. Super comfy and can walk for miles in them, and they are elegant. They come in a range of colours. The Ecco Flash. I see they also have a Roman Flash now that looks comfy too.

I recommend these Merrell sandals. I can walk all day in them and think they look good too.
Agree with those saying to avoid mountain warehouse. They seem great at first but just don’t last

Another vote for these Fitflop Gracies with the thin round straps. Superb comfort and supportive cushioned sole. Have walked 20,000 steps in them on the cobbles of Ibiza Town without a blister. Mine are black sparkly and good for evening wear too.

Fitflop are great for me. the ones with a red dot on the sole.
