Sandals for 20k steps a day on city break

i really can’t do trainers in very hot weather but I need something very comfortable for walking 20k plus steps a day. I’ve looked at Skechers, fitflop, teva but I think I need a recommendation. Has anyone found any with good arch support and very cushioned soles which might fit the bill?
I know there are lots of actual hiking sandals but I’d like something more attractive if possible

Completely agree with you about the adjustable straps. My hyker FitFlops and Teva tirras are brilliant for this.

I’ve been disappointed in the Ecco off-road sandals. They fitted in the store but weren’t wide enough once my feet got hot and sweaty. There’s no give and I rubbed a blister.

Gabor wide-fitting sandals have worked for me.

Agree. The Ecco ones i have look like they’re adjustable but there’s a fixed bit under the toes which makes the adjustable straps pointless. Too tight. Got them in a sale so will be putting them on Vinted or eBay.

DD and I have found that the trick is to take two pairs of trainers and switch them round. Also, in this hot weather I have discovered that some of my trainers are wider (and more comfortable) than others.

@Marinaseahorse, yes exactly!!!! I feel so cross with myself for not noticing this in the shop because the shoes were not cheap or beautiful, and I thought I was doing the sensible thing by spending all this money on something comfortable for my feet. Turns out the sandals are inflexible polyester! I’m sticking with leather next time, as it can always be stretched.

I’ve got a few pairs of keens (sandal, shoes and trainers) and would second this. By far the comfiest walking shoes/sandals and last forever. I like my fit flops too, but not for longer walking days.

I've got a pair of these, and I am just back from a holiday in Thailand - did over 25000 steps a day around Bangkok for 5 days running, and these were so comfortable, no blisters or aching feet at all. I need good supportive shoes - these were great.

Last summer I bought Keen sandals on Amazon - bit pricey but I absolutely love them, very comfortable for walking.
Teva have been a bit of a disappointment - not comfortable for walking long distances.
But the best walking sandals I’ve ever had are Karrimor.

Yes these are the ones I have! Absolutely love them! Comfortable, can walk loads in them, even in creeks and lakes, and they also look quite nice!

May have been mentioned already, but Hotter Tourist Sandals fit the bill. I have two pairs in nice colours and they are more comfortable than other sandals. Also have arch support in the sole.

I am like you and really struggle wearing trainers in hot weather. I am currently in Thailand and we walked for around 6 hours yesterday, with a short stop for lunch. I wore the gracie flit flop sandals all day and my feet didn't ache at all. I would definitely recommend them. My husband bought walking boots from Mountain Warehouse that fell apart within a year! I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

I got Achilles tendonitis from wearing Keen style sandals. So I can say they made my feet hurt.

What PP call stylish sandals usually look horrible to me because they don't look comfortable to walk 10 miles in.

I have been on several month long holidays abroad in Hotter shoes/sandals with lots of walking.

My feet are allergic to plastic, so I can only wear leather.

I have worn Sketchers arch fit sandals on a Disney holiday with 20-25k steps a day. Really comfortable and no issues for my foot that has torn ligaments. Mine are a plain black sandal so not ugly.
I have also worn FitFlop in Paris for a long weekend and they were comfortable as well.

I’ve just got the regular tevas in black and I absolutely love them. I’m hypermobile so need decent support and they’re much better then they look in that respect. Also super light weight. I also like Birks but because of the stiff sole they can start to anche a bit after 15k steps.
I think tevas can look quite cool in black or leopard print with the right outfit.

I have these and they are the most comfortable sandals I have ever had, last forever and can be washed in the washing machine.

My trusty Birkenstocks come with me on city breaks. They survived 30k a day in Japan and Istanbul and are now coming to Bologna with me. I love them. They are so comfortable. I’ve even converted my DH who swears by them

I have literally walked miles in these Hotter Sandals - wear them walking around cities, on long dog walks, the works. Very comfy and they look good with anything.

I do these distances frequently, in Ecco’s. Work really well for me.

Fitflop sandals, the ones with the thick soles

What about some flat slip on sandals with no back I find those comfortable because they don't have straps that dig in
