Whats the biggest looksMaxxing thing you've ever done that made a real difference?

It can be absolutely anything from losing weight to surgery to eating something specific to a beauty product, an enhancement that you have done every few weeks .

I'm in my mid-30s, and I used to be an attractive woman in my late 20s. Then I caught COVID, and due to long-lasting neurological symptoms, it's really taken a toll on the way I look. I've tried small doses of everything, but perhaps I need to be more persistent with one thing. I do have a really good diet. I get blow dries weekly. Wear good quality makeup, etc., but I just feel I look like crap all the time.

YABU for using the term LooksMaxxing.

For me:
-Working out what my body shape is (triangle) and my colour season, and then dressing with those things in mind. I buy simple low cost clothes from the high street or Vinted mostly but they're all things that suit me.

Aside from that, daily yoga and cycling to and from town most days for 2 years has transformed my legs - they used to be my worst feature and now I love them.

At home lash lift kits. An getting my hair permanently straightened. Top it up once a year to do my roots and it’s life changing if you have frizzy hair that’s neither straight or curly and needs a lot of work to look good.

I got a fixed brace and had my teeth straightened and then whitened (in my late 40's).
I feel so much more confident now. I had to wear the brace for nearly 2 years but it was worth it!

Good diet, fresh air, sunlight, exercise and sleep. No expensive gimmicks needed.

Looks maxxing.

for the love of god no. Just no

RosalieRosa · Yesterday 17:28

Ah yes, looksmaxxing - isn't that the term invented by incels and made famous by clavicular hitting himself in the face with a hammer and using "adhd meds" to suppress his appetite?

Well, I haven't done anything like that!

I think a really good haircut and colour, and cutting out sugar were things which I felt made a big difference to how I looked.

Hey....you look super handsome now you've done that. If you were celibate before, I now desperately want to have sex with you (as the looksmaxxing logic goes)

I upgraded my (and my DHs) diets. Huge amounts of vegetables and a couple of portions of fruit every day. I reduced red meat to once a week at the most, and replaced it with tofu, tempeh, lentils, beans, fish and eggs. Added nuts and seeds, took out all UPFs and other unnecessary crap.

It takes planning, some pre-cooking and a bit of willpower - such as when I don't feel like making overnight oats, or chopping and peeling veg.

My skin looks so much better and we have both lost weight without ever feeling hungry or deprived.

Botox. Biodance facemasks weekly really do wonders for my skin.

Smiling. Makes anyone, any weight, any skin, instantly much more attractive. I smile because I’m happy with how I am regardless of how I look. I like me. If you can cultivate the same attitude, it’s very liberating. And even as a dumpy size 16 55 year old, I still get attention from people of my preferred sex, so it must work.

peonysinthesunshine · Yesterday 17:47

Lost 3 stone in weight. It honestly made everything else look better, my clothes fitted better, my hair and skin looked better. Also drinking lots and lots of water everyday, no alcohol, no takeaways and limited sugar.

I drink loads of tea and coffee and never had a spot in my life, correlation isn't necessarily causation. I put it down to luck in the genetic lottery

And probably keeping my face out direct sunlight where possible

Botox

It's actually very subtle...I just look so much fresher. No amount of water and moisturizer can achieve those results

JinxandBinx · Yesterday 17:57

I started getting lip filler at 21 (now 34) because I have no lips without it, and I have it done very naturally. During a consultation with a new practitioner, she suggested a lip flip to relax the muscles in my top lip and OMG it’s made such a difference. I haven’t had any filler in about 18 months, but a lip flip every 6 months just makes my lips look so plump without looking ‘ducky’.
Also, colour analysis. Just to see what colours best suit me….I will still wear colours outside of this if I want, but more for important events, I stick to my colour wheel.

Genuinely building muscle and losing fat.

Please let’s not make that awful term a mainstream word…. The thing I have done that has made the most difference is weight lifting three times a week.

Composite bonding, my teeth were terrible before and I absolutely love them now. Also much cheaper than a brace and done in a coupe of sessions rather than a couple of years.

Got my teeth fixed.
Well had them all pulled out and got pearly white false ones.

BillieWiper · Yesterday 18:05

This term isn't associated with women using makeup, beauty products, diet or cosmetic surgery?

It's weird incel men bashing their faces with hammers isn't it?

notacooldad · Yesterday 18:05

Invisalign
Lip blush
Eyeliner tattoo
High factor spf all year round on face and neck top of chest area. I've been doing this for 25+ years.
Rarely drink alcohol.
Happy with what I have.

Im not saying I look great but I think I look better than if I hadn't done these things.
