Whats the biggest looksMaxxing thing you've ever done that made a real difference?

It can be absolutely anything from losing weight to surgery to eating something specific to a beauty product, an enhancement that you have done every few weeks .

I'm in my mid-30s, and I used to be an attractive woman in my late 20s. Then I caught COVID, and due to long-lasting neurological symptoms, it's really taken a toll on the way I look. I've tried small doses of everything, but perhaps I need to be more persistent with one thing. I do have a really good diet. I get blow dries weekly. Wear good quality makeup, etc., but I just feel I look like crap all the time.

Composite bonding, my teeth were terrible before and I absolutely love them now. Also much cheaper than a brace and done in a coupe of sessions rather than a couple of years.

Me too, I’m over the moon with the results of mine….hadseveral bottom teeth done 2 years ago now and still looks great….x

Can you really do that? Do you mind saying how long the whole things take, from taking out to putting new ones in and how much it costs please. I really really need to sort mine out. Thanks

I had a lot of pain with my teeth luckly i have an NHS dentist.
It took about 5 weeks, start to finish, i had already lost a few.
So it was week1 top left all out week2 top right all out and so on.
I did get a full set of teeth from my dentist and loved them.

But this year 6 year on from the above, i did pay a £1000 for a new set as i wanted to treat myself so i paid the privet price for them.
So worth it.

At home lash lift kits. An getting my hair permanently straightened. Top it up once a year to do my roots and it’s life changing if you have frizzy hair that’s neither straight or curly and needs a lot of work to look good.

Can you tell us exactly what the hair straightening is please?

Paying a lot of attention to my posture.
Getting an occasional facial.
Drinking at least 40ozs of water a day.
Using vitamin C and peptide serum plus moisturiser nightly.

Just looked up Clavicular thanks to this thread. Bone smashing. What the actual fuck?

I have discovered that my oily skin that I disliked in my youth is a bit of a bonus now I'm older. It has a natural anti wrinkle effect. Losing weight and getting my hair done at a decent hairdresser have both helped.

Morepositivemum · Today 06:05

Not happening at the moment but for a while I put my phone away two hours before bed and just read, and was drinking a decent amount of water during the day and everyone was telling me I was glowing! Totally the opposite now, and am so exhausted that I’m in the awful circle of barely eating or drinking anything good for me and scrolling at night so sleep is awful and I have craters for black circles! Will get back to it soon hopefully

Maintaining a healthy weight makes a massive difference as to how you look you get older. I'm 59 and have never let myself get matronly (thickening of the torso) which can be very ageing. I guess that's why they call it middle age spread.

I do have to work at it though as I do love my glasses of white wine and occasional Haagen-Dazs...

I've noticed it with men too, those in their 50s that have pot bellies to those that don't: It makes a big difference.

Batwing tops to soften the square shoulders
V necks
Skirts/shorts/trousers that flare out to create balance
Waist definition (tuck in, belt etc)

Avoid:
skinny jeans/leggings
Tops that fit close under armpits
Boat necks, turtle necks
Also avoid any kind of shoulder padding or ornamentation on the shoulders / upper arms.

Edited

Thank you!
I do a lot of this - can't bear wearing high necks/crew necks/polo necks. I feel like they are choking me!

I do wear skinny jeans - but only in the winter when I can pair them with chunky boots to balance myself out.

Also - I read the 'looksmaxxing' as tongue in cheek - it made me smile - it's the kind of thing my 13 yr old would say when he's taking the piss out of the scary kids at school 🤣

I've had a huge health and beauty glow up from a size 22 couch potato to a size 10. My health overhaul improved my body and mind. Sleep, whole foods (small portions), strength training, walking and spf are the new basics for me.

Quitting unhealthy things like smoking, vaping and reducing alcohol and UPF intake have made me feel much better and will have improved my skin.

The topical stuff is nice too: full body scrubs, IPL, facials, hair treatments, teeth whitening, highlighted hair, botox. I always style my hair into a big bouncy blowdry after every wash.

I had my colours done years ago and have found my style archetype. I know what clothes work well on me, buying online is a doddle and everything I buy works with each other. Colours was incredibly useful and ultimately expensive as I wore a lot of black and I'm an Autumn so was left with very few items in my shades.

Smiling. Makes anyone, any weight, any skin, instantly much more attractive. I smile because I’m happy with how I am regardless of how I look. I like me. If you can cultivate the same attitude, it’s very liberating. And even as a dumpy size 16 55 year old, I still get attention from people of my preferred sex, so it must work.

This! I stopped caring so much about what people thought and worked on my confidence. The biggest boost to looks ever!

pimplebum · Today 07:16

Not aging and refusing to go through menopause really helped my attitude and vagina stay moist

UprightCitizensBrigade · Today 07:21

Drinking water, no caffeine, no alcohol, mainly vegan diet, walking at a pace at least 30 mins everyday. Good for skin/ hair, waistline and mind.

I Was just being silly with the title, I thought it would get more attention instead of writing Glow up! 😆

Oh it’s ok, we use it in our house as a pisstake all the time 🤣

Showermaxxing, whingemaxxing (when you try to make the teens do the dishes), sleepmaxxing when you want a long lie…

wegovy and botox

Vargas · Today 09:05

Posture. It makes such a difference. If your chin juts out over your chest it's not just ageing but will cause you some serious issues as you get older.

Wickedlittledancer · Today 09:12

Mounjaro to enable me to lose weight. Size 18 to an 8.
gym 5-6 days a week, enabled no lose skin, and a toned defined body
healthy diet, 3 litres of water a day, alcohol only every couple of weeks or s when socialising.
style, wearing good quality clothing in current styles, that suit me,
a few hair extensions, I add some clip ins to the sides, which just makes my hair look so full and bouncy,

Wheesht2 · Today 09:19

Inspired by Joan Collins, a very easy one, walk with a slight bounce. Shuffling along or walking with a stoop ages you, walking with purpose and a bounce is youthful and makes you feel good.

C8H10N4O2 · Today 10:11

Genes

Posture
Attitude
Good, regular hairdresser
Private dentistry when actual work is needed
Veggie, mostly vegan diet (the old fashioned kind, not the fake meat kind).
Walk as much as possible (poles are a boon with osteo)
Maintain a regular social life

Its impossible to say how much of an impact diet has on appearance - I suspect a lot of confirmation bias is involved outside of actual allergies.

Food is there to be enjoyed and is social - that has a beneficial effect even if the food itself is not fully compliant with the latest fads.

When do you wear the face masks? I find them difficult to sleep in (having something cold and goey on my face wakes me up, not send me to sleep) but I also don’t have 3 hours to wear one. Would love to know how you work it into your weekly routine!

I work from home so I put it on during the day. It’s interesting if someone comes to the door. I never keep them on 4hours . Maybe an hour and it still works great.
