Whats the biggest looksMaxxing thing you've ever done that made a real difference?

SonnyHoney · Yesterday 15:51

It can be absolutely anything from losing weight to surgery to eating something specific to a beauty product, an enhancement that you have done every few weeks .

I'm in my mid-30s, and I used to be an attractive woman in my late 20s. Then I caught COVID, and due to long-lasting neurological symptoms, it's really taken a toll on the way I look. I've tried small doses of everything, but perhaps I need to be more persistent with one thing. I do have a really good diet. I get blow dries weekly. Wear good quality makeup, etc., but I just feel I look like crap all the time.

I have my eyebrows dyed and having a stronger eyebrow changes my face. Love it (although it does look a bit like marker pen for the first day or two 😝)

schoolsoutforever · Yesterday 21:03

I use looksmaxxing too - it amuses me (probably easily amused though). For my part: the gym, weights and some cardio. Has made me look and feel massively better.

Face wise I can't stretch to paying for tweakments but one change was to stop wearing foundation as it sits in wrinkles. Dye my own hair (as it needs doing every two weeks) and it's OK.

I would really like my teeth whitened so I might try to save up for that as I do think it would be a positive.

Pilates changed my body.

Nutmuncher · Yesterday 21:07

Not drinking alcohol, smoking, vaping or doing drugs. I drink a lot of water consistently throughout the day. Black coffee only in the morning. SPF. Good haircut every month. Eat healthily. Stay active. Use Glycolic toner every other day in skincare routine, good cleanser and moisturising products. Teeth whitened no veneers. Sleep 7 hours. Wear simple good quality clothes and shoes, jewellery and watch always sparkling, nails always manicured (natural). I’m a vibe 🤭

What I will say is I’ve noticed a HUGE difference in friends and colleagues after a few months of using Mounjaro. It’s incredible how it changes a persons appearance, the energy and glow they have now compared to before using it is quite something and in my opinion it’s the ultimate transformation tool.

Crushed23 · Yesterday 21:20

Truthfully, never getting fat in the first place. Gaining/losing weight impacts skin. It’s easy to tell who has always been 8 stones and who used to be 16 stones.

schopenhauer · Yesterday 21:30

Losing weight (Mounjaro).
dressing for my colour season (only guessed this myself and asked ChatGPT) but I have realised if I buy things in cool colours they basically all go together.
Recently started a proper skincare routine (Natalie O’Neil super helpful here). With retinal from dermatica.
Circadian rhythm stuff also such as getting morning and evening light, getting out in the sun safely.
omega 3 and astaxanthin supplements.

What are all you inverted triangles wearing, @AspiringMermaidand @Iriseee? My shoulders are definitely my widest bit!

Batwing tops to soften the square shoulders
V necks
Skirts/shorts/trousers that flare out to create balance
Waist definition (tuck in, belt etc)

Avoid:
skinny jeans/leggings
Tops that fit close under armpits
Boat necks, turtle necks
Also avoid any kind of shoulder padding or ornamentation on the shoulders / upper arms.

I drink loads of tea and coffee and never had a spot in my life, correlation isn't necessarily causation. I put it down to luck in the genetic lottery

And probably keeping my face out direct sunlight where possible

This re correlation/causation. I drink so much water and started doing so in my late teens and I’m past 50 now. My skin is rubbish because genetics.

Princessfluffy · Yesterday 22:14

I stopped drinking and started exercising daily - mostly walking, swimming and a bit of weights - I look and feel hugely better after 18 months of this

Got my teeth fixed.
Well had them all pulled out and got pearly white false ones.

Can you really do that? Do you mind saying how long the whole things take, from taking out to putting new ones in and how much it costs please. I really really need to sort mine out. Thanks

SpottyAlpaca · Yesterday 22:20

Lost 35kg. Without drugs. Just eating sensibly exercising and accepting that I, and I alone, am responsible for what I choose to put in my mouth.

I look & feel so much better, like a different person. II’m fitter, healthier and my state of mind is so much better than when I was clinically obese.

imeanffsreally · Yesterday 22:20

Hair extensions. I have very fine hair and they really levelled up my entire look

bladada · Yesterday 22:24

Barrecore/Pilates
Daisy Keech abs and booty workouts, I went from athletic to curvy
Microneedling for 15y (best thing I have ever done for my skin)
Toning and cutting my own hair, ASWR to manage the frizz, castor oil masks
I just bought myself a Freyara, used it once only, and goodness, it does work
And implants

OtterandaRock · Yesterday 22:32

@SonnyHoney COQ10 and Vit B Complex (not megadoses) helped me recover from Covid.

I bought some inexpensive new lipsticks in paler, more shimmery shades, and got rid of all the colours from my wardrobe that I like but that don't suit me. This was hard!

Vargas · Yesterday 22:37

Teeth - quite a few of my friends spend big money on clothes and hair but have terrible teeth, makes such a difference when they’re straight and white (not too white!)

Vargas · Yesterday 22:39

Also brows, if they’re thin/pale it can really wash people out.

Losing weight. Dental work, teeth whitening. Brows done. Professional hair colour and cut. Daily exercise. Red light mask. Lash serum.

SlightlyTerrifiedButPolite · Yesterday 22:44

@SonnyHoneyI’m sorry for what you’ve been through

How are your brows? Learn how to draw them in nicely. Or go for threading and a tint. Or if they are very sparse and you want a more permanent solution, consider getting microblading if they are sparse (or even better: hyper realism brows). A permanent solution might be good if you’re knackered. I get threading and tinting every 3 weeks (my brows are wild) and it really helps. Also a lash lift every 6 weeks at the same time

Getting your nails done can help too. Your hands frame everything you look at all day and I like seeing them nicely finished. Throw in some rings too and your hands look even nicer. A manicure can make you feel more put together, same for pedicures

I do get Botox and very subtle filler. The filler makes me look less tired and the Botox, less cross! If you do feel you look drawn or tired it can help a lot and you don’t look have to like a clown. Small amounts of mid facial / under eye / naso labial filler can be great for looking less tired. And if you want your lips to look more hydrated but not like a duck, there are types of fillers that rehydrate the lips without projection. If you see someone good they can advise what they think will help you. You really have to have a lot over a few sessions to start to look mad

A few of my friends feel they look so much better with a spray tan or at home tanning, it’s their pick me up

How do you feel about your wardrobe? Do you have some easily comfortable looks that make you feel put together and which work for your day to day life? And have some fun with outfits too. Dopamine dressing as they say! You don’t need loads of variety just a handful of things you can reach for and feel good in

Tonissister · Yesterday 22:47

Bootcamp, four times a week. I got stronger, more toned and had better posture and more energetic movement than ever before.

Growing hair longer also made me look younger.

Having brows threaded made a good difference too.
