In more heatwave news my sea kelp cotton dress from a few seasons ago have been wearing on repeat, it's so light and airy and has come into it's own this week..

ScottishMouse · 26/06/2026 19:33

I am on holidays and won’t be home for a week. I had a browse of the added pieces this morning and was tempted by a few things but thought I would hold off until later so they wouldn’t be dispatched until Monday and would only have to sit in the PO for a couple of days before I can collect them.
But waiting has meant some of them are now oos. Probably not a bad thing.
I am tempted to try the linen cotton smock dress. I did try it in store and didn’t buy though, so there is probably something not good about it, I just can’t remember what!
Also wondering about buying another of the cotton linen twill jacket that I love so much to dye black. Really swithering about that.
Finally tempted to buy another neat cashmere sweater but cannot for the life of me remember which size I bought last sale. I know I bought L and XL but not sure which I kept. According to a past thread here (!) I was thinking about keeping the XL but I’m not convinced I didn’t change my mind in the end. I might just have to guess and cross my fingers.

@CakeAndJazz re the cardigan, is it possible that it’s a loose row and the loops could be nudged along to the end of the row, pulling each stitch along? Or perhaps they look loose because the previous row has had a pull and tightened. Wondering if any knitters are here that could offer knowledge.

@ScottishMouse you have me smile at you being on holiday and still feeling the pull of the sale.
Also wondering if your account would show which jumper was returned?

CakeAndJazz · 26/06/2026 20:40

@ScallopShellWalk I know absolutely nothing about knitting unfortunately, but maybe I should have a fiddle with a sewing needle to see if I could tug on the stitches next to those loopy ones. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know.

Can someone give me thoughts on the cotton seersucker navy dress ?
I ordered it as it seemed to be lightweight and cool. It also had been sold out in my size and I thought it would never make the fading summer sale (at least in my size). I know @ScottishMouse had it and returned due to see thoroughness. The see through aspect does not bother me.
on opening I though meh. It is like lightweight cheesecloth to melooked very plain. However on closer examination there is a line in it which possibly lifts it. It fits beautifully. It is light. It is the right length. It has French seams and pockets. I have previously moaned that a lot of Toast dresses are too heavy for hot holidays. This is not.

Someone tell me to keep it.

IlovePond · Yesterday 10:49

Tried on the bilberry linen dress again today. Was about to keep it then realised it was totally see through 🙀

I am therefore returning all my Reworn order.

However, thank you to whoever it was who mentioned the Kelp dress upthread. I had - sort of - forgotten I had it! I had to sew the placket shut due to button gape today, (probably why I had only been wearing it with a jumper over the top last year).

I wouldn’t win any prizes for sewing at the best of times - certainly not in 30 degree heat, but it’s wearable!

@Countmeout - I just looked at that dress and it's beautiful. I have one similar, not Toast, which I've had for more than ten years and I take it on every holiday in a hot place. I think you should absolutely keep it!

ScottishMouse · Yesterday 11:05

@Countmeout keep it!!! I am on holidays at the moment and now wish I had kept it. I would not have cared about the seethrough-ness here and it would have been perfect for the hot weather. It doesn’t sound like you have any reason not to keep it!

ScottishMouse · Yesterday 11:06

Also to add @Countmeout i have the top in the same fabric and have worn it loads both at home and on holiday. It isn’t a wow piece, but the light airy fabric is a total winner at the moment.

ScallopShellWalk · Yesterday 11:08

@Countmeout I love cheese cloth, been looking for a a while for a nice piece to wear in cheese cloth. I saw this in the shop and thought it looked nice, even though see through. On a hot day you want the breeze to get through. But it wasn’t hot when I was in the shop so I didn’t look seriously at it. Now if it was now, I would.
It sounds like you really like it and you will get use out of it right now, perfect for now. I’m not sure what you don’t like. I think you should keep it. 😊

OftenOrange · Yesterday 11:13

@Countmeout Keep! Plain and simple, light and airy, plus beautifully made …can’t go wrong with that.

ShadowViolet · Yesterday 13:24

I received my Fracap Leather Buckle Shoes today. As I'd hoped, they turn out to be perfect for my ultra square toes. It can be such a pain to find shoes that work with my foot shape, so these are a definite keeper.

Really like the way they look as well. Like a more refined Birkenstock Boston, which I like as well. I just don't always want to look as if I'm getting ready to harvest some tulips 😂

I'm holding on to size 40, in spite of Toast recommending size 42. I have never in my life worn that size, so that's a surprising recommendation!

faustina · Yesterday 13:32

My Reworn order is 100% successful. The Emma tee in dark moss looks brand new (I think it is) and the vibae dark brown mules are brand new - maybe worn for a shoot, but even the label on the bottom of the sole is unmarked and they were still in their box. They were both extremely cheap too!

I really like that seersucker top @ScottishMouse . Do you ever wear it with the button undone, and if so, how low is the slit?

ScottishMouse · Yesterday 13:41

@faustina yes I was wearing it closed back in Scotland, but have been wearing it open on holidays. The opening is low but not obscene 😆 I was wearing a vest underneath it at home. It is a very narrow opening though, so even when worn unbuttoned it is perfectly fine.
I wish they would do the same style in white or black, I’d snap another one up as it has been so useful.

faustina · Yesterday 13:56

Thanks @ScottishMouse - very helpful as I don't do top buttons, but low necks don't work on me - it looks so cool and airy. Will put on my Wishlist!

I have found I need to do that on a lot of my shirts and occasionally a dress. I'm a bit hourglass which is probably why wherever the buttons are placed AND irrespective of size, they still gape until sewn shut on my trusty machine. It can make ironing slightly more challenging though 🤔

IlovePond · Yesterday 15:26

I wish I could sew @PrincessofWills! I was quite pleased with myself today, though! (I don’t actually own an iron, so that won’t be an issue 😹)

I loved wearing the Kelp today - I must stop ‘saving’ stuff!

Re: Reworn

Sending all my stuff back was the right decision. DSis meanwhile had great success, including some brand new Fracaps for under £55! I think the linen dresses I sent back were really overpriced but her stuff was much more affordable, (£40 Vejas, for example - again brand new), There doesn’t seem much logic to the pricing of Reworn!

I often have to chase Toast up for a refund or contact them because they haven’t done it properly, but refunds - so far - have been a lot quicker during this sale!

Agree. Posted my order back on Tuesday and refund showing pending in card on Friday.

Thanks for everyone’s thoughts on the navy dress. I’m glad the top worked for you @ScottishMouse . the material is lovely and light.
I tried it on again last night and I am still thinking it’s very dark. It needs something to lift it and the addition of a bright necklace certainly did. However I have ordered the page check dress (which is ecru) to compare as I think it is the same cut and looks more textured.
I think if the reverse side of the navy dress were the top it might look better as the self stripe is more evident on that side.
I will let you know what I think when I get the page check. I am almost hoping something may drop this week that just grabs me. Although this dripping of stock is totally annoying.

Yorkshirelass04 · Today 13:31

I have bought the red and white stripe dress in the 'new in' section. It's perfect for this weather and style very flattering. If between sizes I would size down.
