Hi,
As promised, here is the new thread.

All are welcome to chat about all things Toast, and any related topics!

You’re all impressing me with the restraint , I’ve been abroad for so haven’t bought a thing and am going to wait for a possible restock to order a couple of sale items as I’m back in uk first week of July.
It’s so true that items bought full price are usually those that flatter the most and consequently get the most wear , but I’m addicted to a bargain ……

IlovePond · 24/06/2026 18:16

I’m the opposite: I absolutely refuse to buy anything from Toast full price, with the exception of the odd bit of homeware. They are taking the proverbial with their recent price increases imo!

The only clothing item I ever paid full price for was the orange bandana that I got in Harrogate and I only bought that because the staff were so nice!

If I see something I really like - such as the FM sandals that sadly didn’t work out for me and the Pond dress, (which I love), I wait to see if they appear in the sale. If they do- great, if not, never mind.

Due to being able to try things on, I also seem to do much better in the sample sales than in the online ‘real’ sales.

I really wish Toast would reintroduce sales in-store!

@OftenOrange It took years to wean myself away from ‘sale shopping as a personality trait’. One of the things that was most effective was keeping a list of everything I buy every year and then looking back to see what I subsequently a) didn’t wear, b) ebayed/donated and c) the things I wore to death. Sale bargains featured frequently in the first 2 categories ☺️. Also I added up what I bought in sales and it was honestly shocking. Covid changed things quite a lot. As did turning 50 and wanting the whole cliched fewer better things.

ETA: also, I have bought lots of things that are brilliant, worn frequently and great quality (Toast robes/tees/dresses) and remain in my wardrobe so I don’t need more of the same.

IlovePond · 24/06/2026 18:20

Of course, my policy does mean I miss out sometimes- I still regret not buying that orange/black check coat from autumn 2024😿

I wish I could be that restrained @IlovePond However, I justify non sale spending because I have a tricky body shape to fit, as well as a few health conditions that impose further constraints on what I can wear. Although I attempt to buy a lot, the majority goes back so my annual spend is not that bad at all. I am also pretty good at moving things on if they don’t end up working for me, selling them on the fb page or on Vinted. I have a very small wardrobe at any one time, so random sale bargains don’t often get welcomed in

Saurus72 · 24/06/2026 18:33

Yikes! Have just added up my shopping (clothes/boots/sandals/bags) for this year so far and it comes to £1800 😬. I have bought a lot already for AW (ankle boots, jacket, jumpers) that I will definitely wear. I thought I was having a low-spend year…

IlovePond · 24/06/2026 18:35

I think you are much more organised than I am @ScottishMouse - I really need to sort out my wardrobe and be ruthless about stuff I am not going to wear 🙀

Thanks for the information about the patchwork waistcoat @MsDastardley . It’s interesting it doesn’t close. I think I will hang on to the S/M . It does go with a number of things I have.
Excited to hear there is more newness coming.

ShadowViolet · 24/06/2026 19:23

I'm with you on the inflated prices @IlovePond

Looking at the jacket that arrived yesterday I couldn't help but wonder if the full price tag could really be justified. It's a simple shape, no lining, overlocked seams. Fabric is cotton cord which is good quality but we're not talking wool or some other expensive fabric. For the price I paid for it, I'm really happy with it. If I'd paid full price, I may well have sent it back.

IlovePond · 24/06/2026 19:33

That jacket is nice @ShadowViolet

I have some things still to arrive: the half placket jumpsuit in a bigger size, arrives tomorrow; the indigo culottes, but wondering if they’ll be too small in an 8; the wide legged ecru jeans but thinking they’ll be too big in a 10, since some say they come up big. The waist sizes I’m never sure about. Oh and the reworn towelling hat, I sent the sale hat back.
Received one refund.

@IlovePond isnt that great that you rediscovered your new nightie. I’d like a nightie nights are hot now. Mind you, come to think, I still have the winter duvet still on.

mizu · 24/06/2026 20:08

@IlovePond that’s so funny, I came out of the shower earlier thinking what shall i put on - a nice sleeveless TOAST nightie would be perfect in this heat! I don’t have one but the thought popped into my head.

half placket jumpsuit has arrived and it’s a keeper. Size S good for 10-12, well more of a 12. Waiting for Reworn patch pocket dungarees.

ScallopShellWalk · 24/06/2026 20:16

@mizu I bought patch pocket dungarees from reworn, fairly recently, the black pepper linen ones. Is it the same ones you bought? I’m having to take them up, work in progress.

mizu · 24/06/2026 20:39

@ScallopShellWalk no, it’s these, the denim ones. The black pepper ones sounds nice, I think there is a black pepper linen dress either in the sale or reworn, I can’t remember, it looks lovely but I’m making a conscious effort to not buy another black linen dress!

Toasties looking forward to sun, summer and sales ☀️
IlovePond · 24/06/2026 21:12

@mizu if it comes back in the sale I really recommend it. Much as I love my spaghetti strap Toast nighties, the straps twist when I am trying to get to sleep. The ones with the narrow shoulders are much more comfortable.

I was looking for a picture online to show the style I mean, but of course I can’t find one. I will spare the internet a picture of me wearing it, but it’s this pattern.

@IlovePond bet it’s lovely and cool.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 24/06/2026 21:16

@Saurus72 I keep a spreadsheet of everything I buy from Toast and note whether it’s a sale purchase. I also have a separate page of returns which helps me track refunds.

IlovePond · 24/06/2026 21:26

It is lovely @mizu - I have a few others from Toast in the cotton v neck crossover style, but this one feels the nicest atm!

I got a lot of my Toast nighties from sample sales

ScallopShellWalk · 24/06/2026 21:27

@mizu Those dungarees look nice. I hope they fit well. I’ve quite fancied some kind of dungaree lately and I had thought of buying the linen ones so was very pleased to see them on reworn. They looked new.
I have looked at the denim too on many occasion. It’s hard to get the size right in my head so reworn is great as you can return. I’d love to hear back how you get on.

That’s professional level! Mine’s just in my iPhone notes…

applecatchers36 · 25/06/2026 07:37

On the nightie chat have had to bring out my trusted white company slip one, it's thin cotton and probably the only thing bearable in these tropical nights..how's everyone faring?

mizu · 25/06/2026 07:54

@ScallopShellWalk will do. Due tomorrow!

Bimblesalong · 25/06/2026 07:58

@applecatchers36 same here. Lovely cotton nightie with spaghetti straps from white co. As you say, the only thing bearable!

My returned jacket arrived back and I’ve only been charged for what I’ve kept. Phew.

The pea shoot jacket is lovely but far too warm for now - I’m sure it’ll get a lot of use later in the year.

stay cool, all.

OftenOrange · 25/06/2026 08:35

@IlovePond I bought the pyjamas in the same fabric in the last sale.
, I too love a Toast nightie but used the sale price to try out pjs thinking of wearing in the garden here in S France.
I lsimply adore the fabric and it’s lovely and airy, and have worn them as planned , but still prefer knocking about in shorts and loose top .

ScallopShellWalk · 25/06/2026 09:02

@OftenOrange I have found also that I may choose to buy something with a scenario of how I will wear it and often I prefer a more usual way of dressing. Not always, sometimes I like dressing up in something different and enjoying feeling different whilst admiring the lovely clothes but most often I find I’m more drawn to the simpler or default options. It seems I like plain and simple most often. I must try remember this when ordering in the sale, not to really expect to keep the more showy pieces.
