@IlovePond sounds quite sad that your sandals were such a disappointment and your dress. I find in store disappointments easier to brush off as there’s often something else to try. At home it’s quite miserable and there’s the chore of sending it back and waiting for your money back. Maybe they shouldn’t charge till we’ve decided to keep it. 😂 no that’d be all too easy to order more.

Bimblesalong · 19/06/2026 23:01

@ScallopShellWalk i have the option to order using the harper service. I have 5 days to try on and they charge me for what I keep at the end of that. I’ve only just started to use it - it does tempt me to order a bit more to try on, eg two sizes. It’s a pain to have a lot on a credit card.

speaking of “a pain” has there been another mini drop in new stuff? I’ve just seen the large totem print poplin dress. Love it! There’s a shirt too but I don’t like the brown pattern down the front of that. I will have to sit on my hands now, although I’m tempted to order to compare with the Page dress and send one of the two back. I wish they’d stop the drip feeding!

IlovePond · 20/06/2026 01:53

I had high hopes of the sandals at least @ScallopShellWalk but it was not to be. If the poncho comes back into stock and/or the orange/black dress I might try one more order.

I really wish Toast would have their sale stuff in-store like normal shops. Or at least have consistent sizing - the red FM sandals I tried on in the shop fitted fine and had equal sized straps. The ones I got today definitely didn’t seem to match in strap length.

@Bimblesalong i think the harper is a good idea for sure but I too would order more. I might then keep more. However, someone on here had a problem with harper mistaking what had been sent back and they got charged to their card for more than they kept. It put me off.

@IlovePond that’s quite annoying having sandals strap lengths all over the place, especially with sandals as they are harder to tolerate if not quite right.

Bimblesalong · 20/06/2026 08:53

Ah, that was at the back of my mind when I did the orders and I couldn’t think where from. Thankyou @ScallopShellWalk

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 20/06/2026 10:09

@ScallopShellWalk @Bimblesalong I used the Harper once on full price items, it was fine, but the short timescale made me anxious so I’ve gone back to using my cc.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 20/06/2026 10:13

Which jumpsuit did everyone try? I’ve got the long sleeve half placket arriving today, but it’s probably too hot to try it on. I wish I’d bought the short sleeve gathered waist now, but it’s oos in most sizes.

IlovePond · 20/06/2026 10:33

Parcels on their way back to Toast. Hopefully refunds will be quicker than last time and correct! I really hate having to pay things off on my CC when I know they are being refunded!

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I ordered the half placket one. I really liked it but I ordered the wrong size. I’ve reordered a bigger one. The colour I liked a lot and the material. It’s not particularly hot here in Scotland, I’ve got my alpaca cardigan on. 😂

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 20/06/2026 11:13

@ScallopShellWalk Toast recommendation was an 8 in the half placket, I’ve never been an 8. I’ve ordered in my normal 12.

ScallopShellWalk · 20/06/2026 11:23

@Theteapotsbrokenspout the website recommended an 8 to me too. Sometimes I can be an 8 in toast but it was wrong. I won’t listen to that recommendation again. I think you are wise to order your normal size. I wonder if it recommended smaller based on reviews saying they sized down. For me the 8 was a bit too snug on the top half of me, I didn’t feel comfortable. I have kept other things that are snug on top but it gets in the way of normal movement, fine if standing looking in the mirror but not stretching.

ScallopShellWalk · 20/06/2026 12:44

My second sale order arrived.

The still life silk bandana I love, so glad I ordered it in the end.

The blue towel hat looks lovely. I think it’s the right fit. Going to check a few times as it’s not adjustable. I love hats.

The pleated cotton linen skirt in ecru I do like. I was late ordering and my usual size was oos but according to the garment measurements I should have been in the size up so I ordered that. It’s slightly too big on the waist but not massively so and the skirt could easily take a small adjustment. I’m going to look out for my usual size in a return. I might keep this one or I might send it back. I really should send it back. Still thinking over if it’s practical and would I get much use out of it. Maybe that doesn’t matter so much if I like it enough. To go back or not? I’ll be thinking this over for the next hour. Keeping something not quite right should be a firm “no” really but it is lovely and it’s only at the waist. 🤣

I have this feeling though that I’ve ordered too much and something should go back. Likely the pen and ink dress will be too snug, as the website recommended downsizing and I don’t trust that now. So I’m kinda hoping it can go back and having then tried it on, I will get it out of my system. 😊

Bimblesalong · 20/06/2026 13:15

My Tuesday order of the different sized peashoot jacket arrived. I’m keeping the M, which should be my usual size. It’s so lovely - sadly won’t be worn for a few days due to the heatwave.

faustina · 20/06/2026 13:50

@ScallopShellWalk - I'm keeping my slightly big skirt for as long as possible in case the smaller size appears (different skirt, same problem)

ScallopShellWalk · 20/06/2026 14:10

@faustina I am realising I’m reluctant to send my slightly big one back too. 🤣

ScallopShellWalk · 20/06/2026 15:11

Actually I might just keep the size 12. It didn’t seem so big after lunch. 😬

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 20/06/2026 15:17

@ScallopShellWalk I tried on the half placket - the 12 fits well, bit confused why it does up the ‘men’s’ way though.

ScallopShellWalk · 20/06/2026 15:33

@Theteapotsbrokenspout thats great it fits well. I hadn’t noticed the buttons being on the men’s side.

ScottishMouse · 20/06/2026 16:11

@ScallopShellWalk i have just ordered that ecru pleat skirt. The only size left was 14 (and 4 but that would only fit one leg!). I only ever buy skirts and trousers with elasticated waists and am usually S or M but I carry a lot of weight on my stomach (thanks perimenopause) so I’m hoping the 14 will close at the waist and not have too much fabric on the hips. I’m keen to have a light coloured skirt for my holidays as light colours look terrible near my face, and had ordered the new ecru box pleated skirt but it just doesn’t work on me. I’m crossing my fingers for this one, otherwise I might go for the non-sale blue/ecru striped one with the pleats that start lower down. I liked that one when I tried it but it was so long I would need to take it up.

MsDastardley · 20/06/2026 16:43

@ScottishMouse @ScallopShellWalk I bought the pleat skirt in the bright check last year in size 14. I’ve lost a bit of weight and have bought small in a couple of elasticated waist skirts this year. The pleat skirt is a bit too big but I love it, so have just moved the top button by a couple of cm. It looks fine, just means the tie is on the wrong side of button now, but it works and means the skirt isn’t dropping down. Hope that makes sense!

The pleat top if very flattering 😁

ScallopShellWalk · 20/06/2026 16:55

@ScottishMouse @MsDastardley
I think that the skirt could take a little adjusting. As you say a moved button would be enough or an even a but taken in on the waistband. I don’t think it would much affect the rest of the skirt. For me I probably should have the 10 but sometimes a 10 even is a bit too tight in the waist. I have the silk goldy coloured pleat skirt in a 10 but it’s a little pinching. I saw on Instagram on toast someone wearing the ecru pleat skirt and they had it dropped below the bellybutton. So it doesn’t have to be tight on my waist and maybe it would take a tucked in top/shirt. So I’m starting to think it might be better a bit loose. I don’t think there’s too much material around the hips. It feels very nice and summery and it’s horrible when you feel hot and clothes pinch.

MsDastardley · 20/06/2026 17:01

@ScallopShellWalk I think it looks nice a bit looser. Mine was just a bit too loose!

OrangeyLemon · 20/06/2026 17:06

Just popped into a Toast shop with my return. Whenever I go in I’m really struck by how beautiful all the fabrics are. Things that I’ve scrolled over and dismissed are so much more beautiful in the flesh. Found some more things to add to my wish list..

Countmeout · 20/06/2026 17:11

I’ve had a relatively cheap sale. I ordered a cashmere big scarf as a Christmas present for a family member. That’s been put away for now. The colour is unexpectedly absolutely delicious and I’m afraid if to hand I might be tempted to use it.
The knitted patchwork waistcoat should have arrived with 2 pairs of socks today but hasn’t. Have you decided to keep yours @MsDastardley ?
I loved it when I saw it first but was never going to pay full price. Now I’m thinking before it’s even arrived what on earth am I wearing it with?

And that’s it.

MsDastardley · 20/06/2026 17:35

@Countmeout I returned it and ordered the bigger size. Whilst I love the colours the S/M just didn’t sit right. If I can get the right fit then quite a few things I could wear it wear it with. I tried it with a couple of my Toast denim skirts, barrel jeans, and some wide leg formal work trousers. All could potentially work. Maybe it’s best for someone with smaller bust. Let me know what you think when you get it
