Oh just had a notification my first parcel is due today! I think that parcel has the linen trousers in it, fingers crossed they fit.

faustina · 19/06/2026 10:41

@AmethystMoonShine - It's comptoir des cotoniers and I bought a blue one of those several years ago. I was thinking about the brown one but they said it was 'wine' so I wasn't too sure. Is it properly brown?

AmethystMoonShine · 19/06/2026 12:20

@faustina i hadn’t realised it was called wine! I guess it is more of a red toned brown than an orange toned brown. It still looks dark brown to me though 🤪

faustina · 19/06/2026 13:46

Everything arrived today. The rug is lovely! I'm so disappointed about the linen wide leg trousers in green. They're much much longer than the oatmeal pair, and slightly bigger all round, but it's the length that drowns me. The oatmeal pair I already have were from reworn so maybe they shrunk a little? I'm not going to gamble on that as these aren't cheap, so they're going back. The peashoot shirt is nice but gapes, and the neck is odd, and the navy cotton hemp jersey shirt is a perfect fit but it doesn't suit me. The green skirt is really lovely - excellent pockets - and I'm holding onto it and hoping a 6 will appear so I can try that as the 8 is a bit big.

Thank you @AmethystMoonShine - I might go for the not wine t-shirt now.

ScallopShellWalk · 19/06/2026 14:04

My order arrived ❤️
the Japanese indigo denim jacket is lovely. I’m definitely keeping that. It’s so soft and hangs really nice. I am wondering if there is a lining @ScottishMouse ? The website says there should be a cotton twill lining and it could be that the light coloured inside is one but it’s hard to tell. It slightly separates from the main fabric. If it is a lining then I should hopefully be free to wear light clothes under it.

The linen cotton check trousers I think I’ll keep. Still wondering how it’ll fit in with other clothes.

The cowboy boiler suit half placket indigo jumpsuit I’m still thinking over. It’s possible it’s slightly neat up top but without a bigger size I can’t be sure which is the best fit. The bottoms are wide and I wouldn’t want them any longer or wider if the size up was to be so. I know someone here mentioned hearing a western theme tune and for me I can’t stop hearing the whistle from the “good the bad and the ugly”. But I think it’ll soften when the fold lines fall out.
Has anyone this jumpsuit and did you take the smaller size or size up? I’m usually a 10 up top and 8 bottom and the size recommender said 8 for me on all jumpsuits. So I have an 8.
@Owly11 how have you gotten on with this?

ScallopShellWalk · 19/06/2026 14:16

I’ve just ordered the 10 in the jumpsuit to try. I’m going to send this one back today.

ScottishMouse · 19/06/2026 14:26

Has anyone bought the new linen cotton box pleat skirt? The reviews sing its praises and I had ordered it a week or two ago in my usual size but it was too big and really crumpled so I couldn’t tell. I returned my sale items to store today and tried it in the size down (although they only had the other colour) and it fitted better but I thought the pleats still looked a bit of a mess even though that one had obviously been steamed. I really want to order the ecru in xs but I’m not convinced it’s as great as the reviews say. Anyone tried/bought it and how do the pleats fall? It was the fabric on the “inside” panel of the pleats that seemed to not sit flat for me.

CakeAndJazz · 19/06/2026 14:40

Thanks @Theteapotsbrokenspout I think at that length if it doesn’t sit in my waist it’s going to be too long on me, and I think they would be hanging on my hips in my usual size. I might try a size down but then I fear they might be quite close around the hips. I’ll give them a try if nothing gets added in the sale.

@IlovePond I’m sorry about your foot trouble, it sounds painful. Really hoping the FM sandals work for you this time.

@ScottishMouse I’m really pleased about the tote - I can also see myself using it a lot. I also wish there was a way to tuck in the sides with a popper or similar (like their other waxed totes) if I needed it to be smaller/boxier. The texture adds such a nice element too, and makes it almost washed black. I also really admire that skirt and saw it in store. It didn’t seem to me that the pleats were laying very flat on it when it was hung up in store. I’m very much a wash and hang to dry person and I’d imagine this skirt might need a little more care than that.

CakeAndJazz · 19/06/2026 14:42

@faustina that rug does look nice - do you know where it might go in your home? Am really hoping more homeware items are going to be added to this sale.

faustina · 19/06/2026 14:52

@CakeAndJazz - Oh I hope there'll be more too. It's going on an old pamment tiled floor next to a sofa in my kitchen, or it's going to be part of a moving in gift to my eldest who's just about to buy his first house.

Edited

I sized up on the jumpsuit and surprisingly it fits well. I have a very long body and am tall and it fits nicely and is full length. The smaller size would probably fit but be a bit snug and possibly then slightly cropped. But I don't know if I will keep it because I can't imagine wearing it. Will you keep yours?

RockaLock · 19/06/2026 16:04

@faustina I was just trying on that linen T-shirt in Uniqlo and I would say it is a sort of dark purpley-brown, there’s definitely a purple-burgundy type undertone to it. It’s not a straight brown if you see what I mean. Or at least it’s not under the Uniqlo changing room lights!

faustina · 19/06/2026 16:20

Thank you @RockaLock - that's very useful. I've already paid to return something to Uniqlo this month, so I'm a bit hesitant to do another order for the moment. I might try to go into London to look at it in the flesh. They're opening one near me in the autumn and I can't wait!

IlovePond · 19/06/2026 16:39

Thanks @CakeAndJazz - I am expecting my sandals delivery this afternoon.

One order arrived earlier today and is all going back unfortunately:

Kaftan in S/M: absolutely huge. With the folds down both sides I looked like a bat! It is the sort of thing I would be happy to pay a tenner for as a beach coverup on holiday - not worth a penny more, imo.

Grey wool mix skirt in 12: I liked this much better than when I tried it last sale but since then I bought a grey linen dress from Reworn that looks very similar. Me and DH both agreed it was hard to tell the difference at a glance, so it’s going back.

Blue/soy linen dress in 12: This fitted beautifully on the shoulders and across my chest, (so I couldn’t size down), but I could have fitted a family of four under the skirts. To say it was voluminous would be an understatement! It was a shame as the pattern/colour/top part really suited me.

Modest order has arrived and both items are keepers. Linen Tea Towel (Natural/Blue) is nothing particularly out of the ordinary but better quality than similar out there so will bring joy. Pomegrante cushion cover is a good replacement for a fading cover that will be retired after this summer so also staying.

Nothing more appeals in this drop but will keep eye out for 'new items added'.

OrangeyLemon · 19/06/2026 17:36

My boiled wool short coat has disappeared from the website so I’m less concerned about it being in the ‘further reductions’ now. I think I’ll be returning the shirt with the black buttons and little ties at the neck- it’s lovely but with the coat and the high neck lofty alpaca (which hasn’t been despatched yet- ordered Wednesday) it would be quite an expensive sale time for me as I have packages from other retailers on their way, and I’m lusting after some sale items on the Beyond Nine site too, but trying to resist as I feel so greedy! I really need everything to arrive so I can compare

ScallopShellWalk · 19/06/2026 18:46

@Owly11 thats good to know you sized up and it fitted nice. I have sent back the 8 and ordered the 10. I must stop just holding on to stuff that’s a bit snug.
If I like the 10 on then I think I will keep it. Pretty sure I will. It felt lovely and soft and I can see myself wearing it around the house or travelling (not sure about plane or train toilets tho) and maybe to something where I just don’t want think too much about what to wear. The colour was beautiful. But I’ll see when it arrives. It looks lovely and neat on the long haired model but I don’t think that will be the look on me. It’d be great if there was room to wear a t-shirt underneath.

That sounds like a good plan. I tried mine on again and decided it's definitely not for me. I couldn't justify it as a lounge around the house kind of item but I admire your ability to not feel guilty about treating yourself and just enjoying the clothes! I bought a couple of things from the new drop so I will stick with those for now.

ScallopShellWalk · 19/06/2026 19:50

@Owly11 its good when a decision is made. I find it hard to send things back so I was pleased I did today. If I don’t wear the nice clothes in the house then all I’ll ever have is pyjamas, joggy bottoms and an oversized t-shirt. I fairly recently changed that around and now I am wearing nice clothes whenever I like and I am thoroughly enjoying it. But I do feel guilty buying stuff too.

IlovePond · 19/06/2026 20:09

My second order arrived: FM sandals and the grey checked linen dress.

The FM sandals felt like hot bandages on my feet - clearly of zero use to me in hot weather and one shoe seemed to have shorter straps and looked odd. I couldn’t wait to get them off my feet.

Shame, as the ones I tried on during a coolish weekend in Harrogate last year fitted and felt fine.

The grey checked linen dress fitted but looked terrible, (tent springs to mind), and the linen felt poor quality - thin and scratchy.

Both my orders are going back.

What a waste of time and resources for all concerned- I am really disappointed 😢

Aw I love that. It feels so nice to wear beautiful clothes. With the jumpsuit I have realised that it may be the colour that doesn't quite suit me. If it was more of a dark navy or a dark green I might be tempted. I also struggle to send clothes back but I have got better at it. I decide quickly and put them straight back in the bag....and remind myself that I now have a chunk of money to buy something else instead!

IlovePond · 19/06/2026 20:11

Tbf, the grey checked skirt was fine, (if not very soft). If I hadn’t forgotten 🙀about my recent purchase of the grey dress, I would have kept it.

Btw: On a more positive note:

If anyone has ordered the brown coat that was reduced to £430, that’s the one I got in the sample sale and I love it!

@ScallopShellWalk @Owly11 I have that jumpsuit in washed black from last Spring and love wearing it. I think I was between 2 sizes and opted for the roomier fit. The slight barrel leg looks fine IMO ,I’m not a fan of an exaggerated barrel either.
I find it an androgynous utilitarian look that goes casual with a stripey tencel t under, or more polished with silver earrings and a jacket etc etc !

ScallopShellWalk · 19/06/2026 22:34

@OftenOrange thank you. That’s all good to know. I’m now glad I’ve ordered the roomier size. I hope it fits like yours does. I like the androgynous utilitarian look a lot. Sometimes I hanker after feminine but I’m most comfortable in something like I imagine this will be.
I have also ordered a lovely flouncy skirt in cream and the pen and ink dress. Neither is anything like I wear but I think I’d like to so I’m going to try them.
