I like the look, striped shirt and white trousers. She's worn that combo at various times and it really works. Fresh, casual yet smart, very flattering.

A lot of the palaces are old, listed buildings that can't be altered to have air-conditioning installed.

St James' Palace is notoriously stuffy even if the windows are opened. There's a couple of photos from earlier this week of the King being very warm at a reception - and obviously he isn't going to take his jacket off!

There was a thing on the news yesterday about London councils making people rip out their home aircon if they didn’t have planning permission for it especially in conservation areas and if they hadn’t done everything else possible first (shading, ventilation, ceiling fans etc). So tricky for the palaces I guess. Plus the spaces are huge.

I spent the afternoon yesterday in and out of an old farmhouse. Two foot thick stone walls. It was bliss no Aircon needed. Stone floors, huge overhangs and porches it was so cool compared to the outside. Came back to our sweatbox.

Perhaps Buckingham palace isn't as comfortable as the other buildings on the huge mall plot.

I've just watched the video. I'd say yes. How practical in the heatwave.

That's a terrible dress, do we think Anne has now decided she has sufficient clothes for the rest of her life snd just isn't buying anything new?

i can't knock her pop socks. We have to wear tights in work (NHS) so my pop socks get an outing or 2 in the summer especially in the last few days. Always with a skirt long enough to hide the tops mind you!

I can't remember the last time I wore any sort of tights. Probably opaques in the winter before lockdown!

I think I last wore tights about 15 years ago, I really hate them.

Anne's dress is from 1984! But it has quite an Edwardian look to it, like something the ladies might've worn to tea on the Titanic.

Well, pop socks or no pop socks (I think it’s a shadow), Anne has got great legs.

Except in certain stills where it looks like her skirt hem might be tucked into her knickers.

George looks nice, nearly as tall as his mum. I'm not sure about Kate's outfit, she's in a tweed jacket, so it's obviously far cooler there than where I am!

If she is in skyscraper heels he's probably already taller than her. If she's in trainers/flats it won't be long. I'm a similar height to Kate and my DS overtook me just before his 13th birthday. Two years later he towers over me.

She's in flats. My son was taller than me when he was 11, but that's not hard, I'm very short 😊

Mine passed one of his teachers when he was 9!

I was also amazed by the jacket! But the visit was apparently a couple of weeks ago, so it wasn’t so hot then. The pictures released to co-ordinate with armed forces day (which makes sense, they will likely want to keep visits involving their children low-key).
