Looking at Kate's dress closely - I realize it's not polka dots but tiny white hearts

Ah, well spotted. To use an appropriate phrase!

I think it's the white collar and sleeve bands that give the dress an 80s look.

Yebbut fashion is recycled regularly. I like the dress style. Did last time.

Sorry thank you @Maireas the thread caught me on the hop 🤣

Sophie's go to brand, Suzannah, and a better look, imo. Safer and a little predictable, but it suits her and is really flattering. I like the bag and shoes, too.

Here's Mary again, and this ensemble is better than the one from the other day, where it looked like she had to change her skirt at the last minute! https://www.newmyroyals.com/2026/06/king-frederik-and-queen-mary-host.html

Oooh I like that skirt. It looks perfect for wafting about on a summer’s day in 😆

eta I love the way the French describe a wrap over top as “cache-coeur” as can be seen in the comments below the article

This thing about white shoes, have we caught it from the USA Labour day thing.

IMO if you've nicely tanned legs, a good pedicure, I can't see anything wrong with them. Unless you're allergic to keeping them clean 😆

Oh no. I don’t dislike white shoes. I have a couple of pairs myself. I just don’t think those white sandals
go well with that dress. They just don’t look quite right is all

It’s actually a really late 1930s -1940s look, but for most of us I imagine the 1980s were when we personally saw a re-do. And now it’s back again!

That's interesting - 1949!

Oh yes, I noticed that the silhouette was quite 1940s. It was just the white accents that made me think of Diana's 80s clothes.

CondimentsAlways · 03/06/2026 15:16

Kate looks absolutely exquisite in this. No notes.

Olivia Rodrigo recently wore "Kates" dress in the opposite colour scheme, red hearts on white dress.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 03/06/2026 18:13

Yes, I think Olivia's was the mini version.

Here’s Olivia in the dress - interesting this was a shoot styled for British Vogue, so they clearly think this is an up to the minute look.

That's cute in the pink. Still has a red pom pom though.

The mini is definitely cute but the tabloids would have a meltdown if Kate wore it!

All four look good here - has Albert taken our advice and borrowed Felipe's tailor? Definitely a smarter look. Both Leti and Char look very summery, I think Leti's is a rewear? I seem to remember that design.

Maybe Felipe frog-marched Albert to the tailor
before he would agree to a photo with him 😂😂
