Yes, I agree (see my previous post). It's a curious hybrid. I think possibly she'd have been better in one of her pastel outfits with a splendid hat and ginormous brooch.

Love Catherine’s hat, but that coat dress 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️. Love Sophies look.

Charlotte dressed appropriately for her age, I do think she has an eye for fashion, she always has a cute trendy accessory.

They are such a good looking family.

Diana had the powder blue, pastel coats made for both kids! (I bet William and Harry envied Peter Phillips)

I adore Zara's handwarmer. Looks like a Christmas present.

It's actually a coat, she's wearing a white dress underneath.

I love Kate’s hat and hairstyle, also her earrings and bracelet, but the coat is a miss for me with the white trim, I think plain blue would have been better.

Anne really wears her uniform well, as do the men. Camilla suits red. Sir Tim and the Dukes all look good. Agree that Birgitte’s collar is a miss and that from what I’ve seen of Sophie’s outfit (not full length) she seems very stylish today.

The children on the fire engine - so cute! Peter Phillips in his tweed jacket as well. It was 1988, so William was 6, Harry 4 and Peter Phillips 11.

Oh thanks, I did see something white at the back split but I thought it was an insert.

It is classed as a coat dress on Catherine Walkers website, and it is GORGEOUS in the close up detail, so I take back my initial dislike of it. I guess Catherine wore a silk slip dress underneath it as the back split is quite high.

I think Sophie and the Duchess of G look lovely. I love Sophie's brooch.

I'm not a fan of Kate's outfit at all - well the hat/earrings/hair are lovely. That white trim look seems to be in fashion again and I didn't even like it the first time around. I also think the fit isn't great on her. The top of the dress seems too big and the whole fit makes her torso very long.

Charlotte's dress looks lovely and her pearl bracelet is perfect.

Ive seen more photos of Kates outfit now. The colour is really gorgeous. I think if is was the first time I’d seen her in that style I might have been more wowed.

A general musing Ive had for a while now…Kate seems to wear predominately “off the rack” (maybe with some alterations). I seem to recall Diana had a lot of her official outfits designed especially. Am I right? If so I wonder why that is..personal preference or just changing times?

I agree that is a lovely dress for an 11 year old.

Does that mean Catherine has to wear that coat all day because she's basically only wearing a petticoat underneath?

I've seen it from a few angles and there's definitely a white dress underneath, with a straight hem. There is quite a big opening just below the buttons at the front of the coat, and a big split at the back.

I don’t know how long they all hang about after the balcony appearance. Maybe a cup of tea and some Highgrove lemon biscuits?

I’d bet on a quick goodbye and then into the cars to go to their respective homes. Hopefully Kate will have been in her shorts and a hoodie by 3pm!

Some of these coat dresses are worn for hours though. Catherine doesn't need spanx type underwear thankfully because those garments are awful. When royals have various events in a day and Pop up in a different location, different clothes, it's like magic how it's all achieved.

I bet she was desperate to take her hair out of that complicated coil though. It looked great but Im not sure it would be comfortable to wear

I really quite like all the outfits today.
The queen looks like she’s trying to coordinate with her regiment? The fit is spot on.

Although I’m not a fan of Catherine’s piping, it works well with the overall outfit. It looks refreshing.

Did anyone see the video of the Duke of Kent getting his phone out to take photos? I like it when they go off-piste a little like that.

Not fashion at all but I'm just back from Bramham horse trials and Zara was there, she's very pretty and much smaller than I expected.
