I’m 38 and don’t know what’s cool and what’s not.
Are these cool?

Too clompy for my taste. And expensive considering they're more than half air.

Bedheadbeachbum · Yesterday 14:01

So long as you don't wear them with a pair of white socks you'll be fine.

CanaryLibra · Yesterday 14:02

Nice - no, I personally think they’re ugly.

Fashionable - yes, it seems so, given that I’m seeing that style a lot online at the moment.

ithinkilikethislittlelife · Yesterday 14:02

I love them. I have fisherman sandals and they genuinely go with everything. Mine are super comfortable as well.

LaurieFairyCake · Yesterday 14:03

Both great but quite different, first pair Toast are sandals and the second much more shoes ?

They look very high quality, both.

ithinkilikethislittlelife · Yesterday 14:04

And although I prefer the look of the second pair I don’t like the gapping above the foot 🤷🏻‍♀️

MyDuvetDay · Yesterday 14:06

i have shoes like this! Bought them from Grenson last year. I love them and get lots of compliments on them.

Love the Toast ones.
The Angulus ones are overpriced and less stylish, to me.

Besidemyselfwithworry · Yesterday 14:11

They’re not my thing at all but have seen a lot of them about so they must be “on trend”

I wear stuff because I like it not because it’s fashionable!

I agree with this. I can’t understand this trend at all.

And I think that you have to have a certain vibe to be able to pull this type of sandal off which will almost exclusively be the domain of the young and uber-trendy.

But if you like them OP, get them. You won’t be the only one wearing this style, if that’s what’s troubling you.

Maybeitllneverhappen · Yesterday 14:32

Personally I hate them as they remind me of what children had to wear in the 1970s or really "square" people wear. However, I'm aware that lots of people these days think they're cool and amazing. People like different things so if you like them, wear them.

ThreeStripeQueen · Yesterday 14:41

Are the toast ones supposed to look like they’ve been worn.
The second ones look a bit more sleek and less Smartest Giant in Town.
My French teacher used to wear similar with white sports socks and a floral dress in summer, she’d probably be bang on trend now but they instantly bring me back to that “ugh, so embarrassing” feeling you get as a teenager.

Hopelesscase32 · Yesterday 14:44

Absolutely not!

allthegoldicouldeat · Yesterday 15:02

They’re probably fashionable, but horrible nonetheless.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · Yesterday 15:04

They’re trendy at the moment but I don’t like them and you can get them cheaper.

Ffffff886 · Yesterday 15:06

They're a classic style but toast is not a place for trendy clothes, that's more like Zara, Bershka, Monki, Cider, H and M... Toast and Cos march to the beat of their own drum. They are a middleclass too intellectual for trends type of dresser.

Fairyliz · Yesterday 15:08

I actually think they are absolutely horrible but I bought something similar as they are the only sandals that felt comfortable on my hobbit feet.
I wore them for the first time on holiday a couple of weeks ago feeling slightly embarrassed about such frumpy shoes and Dd (20’s) unprompted commented that they were cool.
So I feel stupid but am comfortable and apparently trendy. No j

Ffffff886 · Yesterday 15:08

Yeah socks and sandals, or fisherman sandals are hated by people over 45 it's like a nightmare for them unless they did the work and got over the fear/cringe. It's been fashionable and perfectly acceptable to wear ugly and ortho sandals or socks with open toe for over 10 years now.

Juliadiesalone · Yesterday 15:14

Ugly. The kind of shoes you can only pull off if you’re super cool/ fashionable. Otherwise you look like someone’s gran

7in1Pond · Yesterday 15:14

Yes the first ones are fashionable- they've been popular for a few years. I think the key to making them work is either to be 21 or to wear them in a way which is clearly intentional and unapologetic. Second ones not so much because they're a bit more delicate and therefore miss the mark for unapologetic clump.

TheChosenTwo · Yesterday 15:16

To my eye they are hideous, reminiscent of the BFG’s shoes 🫣
fashionable? Almost certainly seeing as ugly shoes are very much in at the moment. They won’t be anywhere near my feet though!

PinkiePipe · Yesterday 15:17

I absolutely love them. I am not cool and don't think I could pull them off.

ForeverTheOptomist · Yesterday 15:20

They are both old person sensible shoes.

SirChenjins · Yesterday 15:22

Mega fugly - I remember them from years ago and they fell out of favour then for good reason. The fashion industry though has somehow persuaded some people that they are stylish in an ironic kind of way Grin
