I’m 38 and don’t know what’s cool and what’s not.
Are these cool?

They are fashionable

I hear the M&S ones are comfy too, they come in brown too

Those are actually lovely. I might buy to wear with wide leg trousers.
My ankles are too skinny to wear with dresses.

Moveoverdarlin · 21/05/2026 17:29

I’m 46 and wouldn’t wear them if you paid me. They just remind me of what a pervy old bloke aged 80 plus would wear in the 70s.

Strong no.

Harridan5 · 21/05/2026 17:31

They remind me of my GCSE Latin teacher, but if you like them then wear them.

Swampthing55 · 21/05/2026 17:42

I love them, but they're not elegant

mondaytosunday · 21/05/2026 17:45

They look like what a three year old would wear to be honest. And one born in 1965.

NovemberMorn · 21/05/2026 17:48

They are ugly and very masculine looking.
But if you like them, buy them; it's your feet.

Divebar2021 · 21/05/2026 17:53

People saying they’re unfashionable have no clue.

Mamabear487 · 21/05/2026 17:54

Absolutely not

So long as you don't wear them with a pair of white socks you'll be fine.

Somebody wore some open toed DM sandals yesterday at a conference with socks.

DirtyBird · 21/05/2026 18:03

I think they are cute. I love that style.

MikeRafone · 21/05/2026 18:05

my 4 year old grandson has similar

Tabarnak · 21/05/2026 18:07

I also have Saltwaters and Birkies (I like Mayari) and if you wear those you can probably also carry off a fisherman sandal vibe

I have these https://www.celticandco.com/product/fishermans-sandal?cat=2139&colour=390&type=1

I walk miles in the summer and half the sandals I see on here just don’t look suitable for walking far.

GothicCola · 21/05/2026 18:11

The first ones are just about ok. The second pair - I think my grandad has an identical pair. He wears them with white socks and knee length shorts in the summer.

Edited

But they are fashionable whether you like them or not 🤷‍♀️

Ditto to people saying “don’t wear them with socks” 🤣

Pennyfan · 21/05/2026 18:22

The first ones, I have the slip-ons and I wear them around the house and they look great with long, loose trousers. I wear them outside if not walking very far as they are quite wide and slip off-although the strap would stop that. They have a soft sole. Nice summer sandal. I also have the Grenson fisherman’s which I wear a lot too-a bit more refined than the really clumpy ones. I’m 64 if that helps. I got them direct from Vibae rather than Toast as they did an initial discount.

NotMeNoNo · 21/05/2026 18:22

Fashionable doesn't always mean pretty, in fact it's often the opposite. If we wanted pretty we would all still be wearing tea dresses like the 1950s.

CoudyWithAChanceOfCustard · 21/05/2026 18:24

Ugly - I’m 62 and wouldn’t wear these 😵‍💫

Pennyfan · 21/05/2026 18:27

Imo, they don’t look ugly at all. I have quite broad feet and delicate summer sandals look ridiculous on me. I also like wide, barrel and harem leg trousers and they suit that look very well. If your vibe is slouchy rather than say, Reiss or Jigsaw, they suit it very well.

Frillysweetpea · 21/05/2026 18:36

Depends on your age and style. If you're young, skinny and dress like some sort of Boho intellectual they'll be really trendy. If you're over 50, carrying a bit of weight and look mumsy even when you try hard not to avoid them like the plague. Sadly, I'm in the second group.

DinoDoughnut81 · 21/05/2026 18:39

I love fisherman's sandals! I think they go with everything. My taste does run fugly in shoes though, I like a "strong look"! But I think these are classic.

Weeellokthen · 21/05/2026 18:41

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 21/05/2026 14:01

Too clompy for my taste. And expensive considering they're more than half air.

"More than half air" 😂😂. Love it

Fizbosshoes · 21/05/2026 18:43

DrCoconut · 21/05/2026 15:53

Old men used to wear them with shorts and white socks for the annual church seaside trip when I was little 🤣

I think we knew the same people (in the 80s/90s) 🤣

Not true at all. It depends on your attitude and how you wear them and with what. I'm 67 and I wear sandals like this.

Lunaballoon · 21/05/2026 18:48

They remind me of something my 90-year old FIL would wear. With socks. Sorry!
