I know everyone is different but if you are 5ft 6 and weigh 14st 4lbs roughly what size would you think you would be.

Muscle weighs more than fat so it depends on that. Probably 18ish??

That’s not true

CaffeinatedMum · 08/05/2026 21:59

I was 16/18 at that weight and 5ft 5inch, so I’d guess 18

SallyAnnDrivesACar · 08/05/2026 22:00

Size 18.

Abso · 08/05/2026 22:02

I was an 16/18

Isn't it that a square inch of muscle weighs more than a square inch of fat because it's denser ? So if you are muscular you could weigh the same as a fatter person but look completely different

buttonframe · 08/05/2026 22:17

I was 14 top and 16 bottom at the same weight and height. My collarbones were still clearly visible - we all carry weight differently. I exercised regularly at this weight though which might make a difference too.

Swissmeringue · 08/05/2026 22:21

I'm 5'6 and I'm a 12-14 at that weight. I swear I've got dense bones 😂. I'm also pretty sporty so I've got a lot of muscle mass. Your answer is going to vary massively depending on build, I'm unusual. Pretty much every medical professional who has ever weighed me has done a double take.

LittleSoo · 08/05/2026 22:22

Depends where you are shopping and which way the wind is blowing that day. Clothes shopping is awful at all sizes because no where is consistent, even sizes can be different within a shop let alone in different shops

USaYwHatNow · 08/05/2026 22:23

Hmmm I'm 5ft 7, weigh about 13.5st and am a size 16/18. So maybe and 18/20? But depends where you carry your weight? Even when I'm slimmer I have to have size 16 tops as I have been blessed cursed with massive boobs.

PalePinkPeony · 08/05/2026 22:28

Questionsssss · 08/05/2026 17:58

Wow! I’m 5ft5 and at 12st I’m a size 12!

Wish I could currently fit into size 12- maybe in larger shops like next or m&s. I have big boobs and a big hip, smaller waist. Skinny legs. So most weight is all around boobs and middle. Need to lost about 2 stone to get back to where I want to be and then I’m a lovely 10/12

Lara96 · 08/05/2026 22:36

So the reason I am asking is at my heaviest I was 18 stone 3 and now I am 14 stone 4lb and my abdomen looks the exact same and a size 22 is tight. I don’t remember being this size the last time i was this weight.

Your weight distribution changes as you hit perimenopause- much more around your abdomen rather than your hips etc. Can’t see how old you are but could this be why if the last time you were much younger?

Phonicshaskilledmeoff · 09/05/2026 08:05

I’m 14 stone at 5ft 4 and a 16.

alexandrasm · 08/05/2026 17:00

Don’t be stupid! I’m 5 foot 3, 15 stone 9, and an 18!

She wasn’t being stupid. I am 5”4, 13 stone and an 18. We are all built differently

This really demonstrates how weight and dress size varies from person to person.

I am 5ft 4 and weigh 8 stone 1 and am a size 8. At 9 stone 10 I would be size 12 in most brands. Maybe size 10 at M and S.

OP from the photo I am guessing that is peri bloat. If not, maybe go to GP to put your mind at rest.

drunkelephant83 · 08/05/2026 21:59

That’s not true

It is true in principle it just depends on semantics. Muscle is denser than fat. 1lb of muscle is much smaller than 1lb of fat.

Yes, muscle is denser than fat.

ImFree2doasiwant · 09/05/2026 08:48

Really depends OP. Build really cones into it, and how you carry yoyr weight.

Im just under 15st and 5ft 7. I wear a 16, mostly Next, M&S, Fatface, White Stuff, and supermarket. My abdomen looks very different to yours.

Do you do any exercise? If not, maybe its time to start to support your weight loss snd body

Yes but 1lb of muscle weighs the same as 1lb of fat, so muscle doesn’t weigh more than fat.
