I know everyone is different but if you are 5ft 6 and weigh 14st 4lbs roughly what size would you think you would be.

OP posts:

So much depends on your shape/build. I'm 5ft 8 just under 10 stone and I'm a 12/14 depending on the clothing brand.

Allmarbleslost · 08/05/2026 18:37

I was a size 16 at that weight and height.

80smonster · 08/05/2026 18:40

16

dietstartstmoz · 08/05/2026 18:46

I was a 16 at that weight

OatcakeCravings · 08/05/2026 18:54

I’d say on average a size 18, are you trying to buy something online OP? If you tell us the shop we might be able to help you with sizing.

Papyrophile · 08/05/2026 20:39

I am 5'5" and weigh about 62kg. Generally start trying on clothes at size 12 but I buy clothes from a 10 to a 16, depending on the fit and look I want.

Astra53 · 08/05/2026 20:41

I was an exact size 16 at that weight

OneNewEagle · 08/05/2026 20:44

It depend on your body shape.p, but Approx a 16. I’m 5ft 4 weigh slightly less at the moment. I’m a 16-18 in tops 12-14 trousers.

Lj8893 · 08/05/2026 20:47

I’m 5”5, 13st13 and I am a size 14-16 depending on the item, fit and shop.
For example, I bought jogging bottoms and oversized t shirt in a size Small from Primark the other day and a size 14 t shirt, and size 16 jeans in M&S on the same day.

It completely depends on your shape, and fat/weight distribution too. I am small in shape and build, but have alot of excess body fat which makes me heavier.

Squirrelchops1 · 08/05/2026 20:49

Been there at that height 16/18

Squirrelchops1 · 08/05/2026 20:51

mcgruder · 08/05/2026 17:41

I’m 5’6” and 10st 4 and a size 14 so I would say 18/20

I'd easily be a size 10 at that weight and I'm the same height as you. Im wearing some 12s and im 12 stone

Swallowdoubleandrunamile · 08/05/2026 20:52

I'm 5ft 5/6 and fluctuate between 16 - 16.5 stone. I have a big belly, egg on legs as a Mumsnet poster described it once.
I wear a size 20 but can range 18 - 22 depending on cut.

It also depends on the randomness of M&S jeans - the exact same style and size can differ by several inches at the moment so a size 14 can fit in one colour and a size 16 be too small (completely flummoxed me when trying these in different colours recently)

perimenopoppet · 08/05/2026 20:56

I was almost exactly that weight and height at start of last year and wearing 16/18. Some were too tight. Body shape can make it vary a lot as we see from the answers but I think 18 is the best guess.

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 08/05/2026 21:00

I have been losing weight and kept a track of when I generally went down a size - apple shaped and 5’5’’. I was a very tight 18/20 at almost 16st and a comfortable 18 at your weight.

size 16 - 13st 10lbs
size 14 - 12st 11 llbs
size 12 - 11st 7lbs

maftan · 08/05/2026 21:02

11stone 5ft 6, I'm 12 on the bottom and 16-18 on top (L or XL). I'll keel over from being top heavy, it's literally a pain! Very few dresses look right on me, so I avoid them!

curious79 · 08/05/2026 21:04

16/18, possibly more if you’re flabby not muscly

PinkiePipe · 08/05/2026 21:14

This is interesting! I'm that height and 12stone4 and need a 16 - I probably sometimes really need an 18.

ExperiencedTeacher · 08/05/2026 21:19

I’m a 16 at that height and weight

SlightlyTerrifiedButPolite · 08/05/2026 21:37

thedevilinablackdress · 08/05/2026 17:03

Really makes a difference. I could be a 10 in M&S and not even be able to look at a pair of trousers in Zara

I can’t get into Zara jeans of any size unless I’m a size 8! And I haven’t been a size 8 for 6 years 🤣. I’m now a 10-12 and just there’s no point in engaging with Zara jeans of any size at all

EltonJohnsSunglasses · 08/05/2026 17:13

Too many variables to answer really - I'm 5ft 2 and weigh 11st and am a size 10, I do a lot of weightlifting, so body composition can affect it greatly.

This goes to show it depends on each person. I'm 5ft 2in and weigh 9st and I'm a 10/12, sometimes need a 14 top in Next or New Look. If I was 11st I'd be a 16. I'd say it doesn't matter on the size label, if it fits you and you look good in it then buy it.

Torchout · 08/05/2026 21:53

Size 14? I'm 5'7 around 90 kg and a 16 but then I've always been smaller than .you weight dictates.

ChubbyGroundhog · 08/05/2026 21:55

EducatingArti · 08/05/2026 17:01

I'm 5 foot 1 inch and weigh 143 lb which is 10 stone 3lb. I'm losing weight and my size 16 is quite big on me now so maybe a 14.

Based on this, given that you are taller but 4 stone heavier, I'd say 18-20

I'm the same weight as you, 5'2", and wear 6/8 in multiple shops but managed a 14 top at M&S outlet, couldn't even zip up size 8 jeans from there but 6 in Per Una! Who can say why!?

jetlag92 · 08/05/2026 21:56

Questionsssss · 08/05/2026 17:58

Wow! I’m 5ft5 and at 12st I’m a size 12!

In US sizing?
I'm 5'4" and a size 10 at 9 stone 4. (and I'm quite muscular)

dovesquare · 08/05/2026 21:58

alexandrasm · 08/05/2026 17:00

Don’t be stupid! I’m 5 foot 3, 15 stone 9, and an 18!

It very much depends. When I was just under 13 stone at the same height as the OP I was an 16 on the bottom and a 20 on top.
