Will I be the only one who looks my age?

catsaremyfavoirite · Today 21:08

Everyone around me seems to be getting Botox, or other beauty procedures. I’m mid 30s and not keen to go down that route due to the ongoing cost. It’s not cheap! But then I wonder if I’ll end up looking miles older than my peers because of this?

Any other 30-somethings who are not planning to get Botox?

OP posts:

Im on my 40s and not planning to get Botox. Often get disbelieved about my age too.

Itsnotallaboutyoulikeyouthink · Today 21:11

And what’s wrong with looking your age? Oh and not everyone is getting Botox. Be confident in your own skin and trust me your beauty will shine through.

catipuss · Today 21:13

Ridiculous thinking about this in your thirties, you won't be able to move your face in your 40s and then who will look old. How many wrinkles do you actually have?

Strawberryteabag · Today 21:14

I actually think getting Botox can make you look older than somebody the same age with no Botox. In your 30s and getting Botox makes you look in your 40s and trying to look younger.

Newsenmum · Today 21:14

Most people
I know dont. You can still age well if you look after yourself.

Noshadowsinthedarkness · Today 21:16

I was thinking this the other day.

Same with WLIs, I’ll be the only fat person I know soon!

Makemineacosmo · Today 21:17

I have a lot of people around me who are constantly getting 'tweakments', fillers, Botox, you name it. It's not for me.

I'm 59. I am perfectly happy to be 59. I had cancer 7 years ago and doubted I'd even get to this age, so I'm grateful and look after myself but I won't be injecting anything into my skin to look a little younger.

DefiantRabbit9 · Today 21:19

I wouldn't even think about getting Botox, it's an afront to everything I believe in. I just turned 40 and funnily enough since people are getting Botox so young and so regularly people still think I'm in my late 20's.

Lizziewest88 · Today 21:21

Late thirties, no fat jabs or Botox/ tweakments. So I’ll be fat and wrinkly 😂

I know lots of women in their late twenties who get botox

You’d be surprised how common it is to get botox even when young (& it’s not just the stereotypical high maintenance women either who look like influencers/love islanders)

SockQueen · Today 21:22

I am 41 and think it's highly unlikely I'll ever get Botox or fillers. I'm not into cosmetics in general beyond basic skincare and being vigilant about sun protection, so accept that I will look my age.

But then I do dye my hair to hide the greys, and I'm on Mounjaro, so I guess I'm just bothered about slightly different things!

Totally agree

Spaghettea · Today 21:24

This worries me too. I can't even afford the nice shampoo and conditioner that makes me look bearable. I wish I could afford botox to take away my scowl lines.

LilyCanna · Today 21:24

Good grief, worrying about looking your age when you’re still in your 30s! When you’re in your 50s you’ll look back at photos of yourself at that age and think how fresh faced and young you looked.
Wear clothes that make you happy and look after your skin by being careful about sun exposure and not smoking.

AImportantMermaid · Today 21:25

People with Botox look their age - they just look a bit more wide eyed. As you age you can look weird or you can look older. You can’t look young again - you’ve already done that. Think of people like Catherine Zeta Jones, Sandra Bullock, Courtney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, and Nicole Kidman - if they, with their already great beauty, and access to the best nutrition, treatments, and surgery money can buy, look weird and frozen, then what hope is there for the rest of us? And none of them look any younger than their years. They just look like they need to fart but are scared they’ll follow through.

Not even the Kardashians look like they claim

Its smoke and mirrors and women believe it
Ive never, ever seen anyone look younger because they had botox or fillers
They look odd not younger
I also know many women and one man who have had botox for years and they have this flat look to their faces and lines where you wouldnt normally get them
Exercise, use suncreen religously, drink water, avoid booze, fags and vaping
Its all a con designed to.part you from your money

SpryTaupeTurtle · Today 21:27

I'm 57. Never had Botox. I think I scrub up Ok for 57. I was still getting asked for ID for alcohol in my mid 40s. The last time it happened I was 51. Think the assistants needed to go to Specsavers but there you have it.

The only thing I ever did was get my hair highlighted. That's about it

I'm vegan anyway and Botox isn't so I wouldn't get it done

I remember saying to one of my friends who was very stunning but her forehead was a bit wrinkly (sunshine holidays) why don't you get Botox then if you aren't happy and she said I have already had it

Honestly. I hate to see really beautiful girls have too many treatments. It's completely up to them but there's too much pressure on women to look a certain way

RetroMam · Today 21:27

I honestly think Botox makes you look older, especially when young people get it, I know lots of friends in their 20’s with Botox and it makes them look so much older. Much better to age gracefully imo!

unfold1 · Today 21:28

I have a few friends who have had it very tastefully done, genuinely couldn’t tell even now that they’ve told me.

Not everyone is lucky to have good genes

scrivette · Today 21:29

I am a bit older than you and I think about it this too - loads of people around my way are having their lips done and Botox - I don’t want to as I am lazy and wouldn’t keep up with it, so whilst I don’t look my age at the moment I think that everyone will stay looking young and I will
age naturally so I will look so old compared to them!

I think Jennifer looks good but she would have looked better without any work done. The person I always think about is Michelle Keegan. She was stunning before and I don't think she needed any work done

I remember Jonathan Ross brother Paul slagging off Michelle Collins at least 20 years ago going on about her wrinkles saying she needs to dip her head in a vat of Oil of Ulay. Think she looks great

Samanabanana · Today 21:30

I am early 40s. Most of my friends get subtle Botox/fillers. I am the youngest and definitely look the oldest. Everyone else looks incredible. Damn my public sector salary Grin

Additup · Today 21:30

If you want to see how bad cosmetic work looks on someone in their 30s Google Dr Leah Totton. When she won the apprentice a few years ago she was a very attractive woman. Fast forward a few years and she looks like she's had some work done and now looks a bit odd and somehow not quite right (imo).

It's better to look older than weirder OP !!!

workshy46 · Today 21:30

I think unless it’s done v v well most people just look like they’ve had Botox and fillers not younger. I also think getting it done while you are young makes you look older. I’d invest in quality skin care and sunscreen. I don’t do think so many do it now .. same with weight loss drugs. I’d say in a few years it will be unusual to see someone very overweight weight

Another76543 · Today 21:31

I’m a fair bit older but am not planning on “tweakments” or surgery, despite a lot of my peers having it. I’ll stick with decent skincare, a good haircut and clothes that suit me. If you start down the Botox/fillers route, when do you stop? Will people be having it when they’re 90?! Each to their own, but it’s not for me. I’ll embrace the wrinkles. It’s a privilege to get older; many don’t get the opportunity. I’d prefer to spend the money on experiences. On my death bed, I’m fairly sure I’ll think back to lots of lovely memories rather than wishing I’d spend time and money erasing the odd wrinkle here and there.
