Will I be the only one who looks my age?

Everyone around me seems to be getting Botox, or other beauty procedures. I’m mid 30s and not keen to go down that route due to the ongoing cost. It’s not cheap! But then I wonder if I’ll end up looking miles older than my peers because of this?

Any other 30-somethings who are not planning to get Botox?

Just look what's happened to Katie price

LaurieFairyCake · 27/04/2026 16:27

Thesewordsaremine

nearly spat my tea out at that 🤣🤣🤣

’Trans’ because of Botox! I’m not searching my face for hints of penis 😬🤣

CherryMorello79 · 27/04/2026 16:35

People who have botox just look like people who have had botox. Same with lip fillers. They all start to look the same as each other. It doesn’t make you look younger it just makes your forehead shiny and your face bland.

YourKonstantine · 27/04/2026 16:57

39, no Botox or fillers. I’d rather get a face lift in 10 years.

SalemSaberhagen99 · 27/04/2026 17:12

face yoga is better than botox for aging. You need to work the muscles, not freeze them. Botox is just a quick fix.

Hatty65 · 27/04/2026 17:13

I'm 60 and quite happy with the face I've earned.

I've never yet seen anyone with Botox and fillers, particularly as they get middle aged, who didn't look weird. People who say 'Oh you can't tell' are fooling themselves, and after a certain point, you definitely can tell. People look plastic and alien. Even if they start off having 'subtle' work done there comes a point when that is not enough to keep them looking young and the top ups end up making them odd.

As others have said, when Hollywood multi millionaires look peculiar what hope is there for those with less access to top quality treatments?

HoldMyWine · 27/04/2026 09:11

I don’t see any judgement here people either like it or they don’t.
I personally don’t think it looks good, you do.

You do know that everyone doesn't get the same treatment ? They don't start with the same baseline? You talk about your knowledge which is limited but you can't apply that to everyone. That's not valid.

somburd · 27/04/2026 21:31

OvernightBloats · 27/04/2026 08:53

You have a choice:

Start using botox etc then commit to having to pay for regular treatments for the rest of your life. End result is that you may not have wrinkles but you start to look weirder and weirder the more treatments you have.

Or go the natural route. Avoid the expensive, invasive procedures. Yes, you will get wrinkles but you will look natural. The confidence of accepting the aging process is very attractive.

Do you want to look like an android? Or look like yourself but older?

You don't have to keep on having it forever . Who told you that ?

So ? What an absurd comment .

CannotConfirm · 27/04/2026 21:37

I just want to look like Meryl Streep, complete with her 11’s.

JasmineTea11 · 27/04/2026 21:37

Fuck that op. You have to rebel against this!
It's wrong. These women are being exploited and daft. What will they look like in 10 years?! Don't go there.

babyproblems · 28/04/2026 07:33

I am in the same boat @catsaremyfavoirite
I try and do what I can to preserve what I have which makes me feel somewhat better.. Exercise, drink loads of water, good skincare hair care etc, no processed food. Also I have recently swapped to a daily SPF which has transformed my skin. I am shocked by the difference it’s made tbh! It’s Roche Posay anthelios UV400 spf 50. Invisible fluid.
I agree with the pp also who said that if you have Botox in your 30s, it makes you look like you’re in your 40s trying to look 30!! Xo

Kinfluencer · 28/04/2026 07:47

Beachforever · 26/04/2026 21:58

Well Botox is something you can do whenever. You don’t need to start young. If you get to 45 and decide you look tired, haggard and older than your friends you can choose to get some then if you feel like it. And if you don’t like the effect, you can just not have it again. It wears off after a couple of months.

I have it every now and again. Maybe twice a year at most. I just do it when I’m looking quite tired and feel like I need a bit of a pick me up.

This is really interesting
" look tired, haggard and older"

Surely if you look and feel like this then changes need to be made? Diet, exercise, stress?
Its also incredibly negative language

Ive long thought that theres always been Mothers little helper" to alleviate the stress women are under due to carrying the mental and domestic load , plus now being expected to WOH and look perfect.
Gin, cigarettes, benzos and now you can feel terrible but botox will erase it conveniently away.

Except it doesnt, you still feel the same but look blank
My solution to the looking and feeling knackered was to tackle my DH but also start taking what I needed.
I stopped the whirlwind of trying to do everything and started saying no
Result is Im late 50s
Exercise, good diet, HRT, cut my work hours down, be present but never stay late
On a daily basis I disappoint people but never myself 😄
Its worked wonders and I look and feel better than I have done for years

ThisMellowCat · 28/04/2026 09:43

Do not go down that route, it will lead to more wanting more. Get a good routine in with creams and start on the collagen route to start the build up early. Give it a couple of years and see how you feel. Botox is not the way to go.

FernandoSor · 28/04/2026 10:44

Where are you that everyone around you is getting botox? Los Angeles? I know literally no-one of any age who has had plastic surgery, other than for reconstruction purposes.

Emowoman90 · 28/04/2026 11:20

I'm turning 36 in a few months and I honestly never thought about Botox, I mean if I was advised to improve something I will but I believe looking natural and your age wins. There's a few I know who are a little older than me absolutely hammering Botox that they don't look themselves anymore, lips are bigger, cheeks all big and huge it just doesn't look good but that's my personal opinion in a nutshell do as you please.

I started a retinol routine and a nightly/daytime cream routine, take collagen vitamins, since I did this I've noticed a little difference but we age and that's absolutely fine.

hahabahbag · 28/04/2026 12:16

I’ve never had any such treatments, I’m in my 50’s but get mistaken for 10 years younger.

Wot23 · 28/04/2026 12:17

why be so vain?

SiberFox · 28/04/2026 13:04

I’ve just hit 40 and feel the pressure too OP. Why I’m not doing Botox:

  1. I have a 3yo child. I want her to see my real face. I want her mirror neurones to be getting the right input. Even subtle Botox changes that. What a weird experience this would be for her developing brain

  2. I don’t want to teach my daughter that aging is so scary, I’m spending hundreds of pounds every few months and injecting my face to hide it. I don’t want to send that message to any girls out there

  3. I don’t want to be spending hundreds and thousands of pounds on this. I could find the money but I’d rather it go elsewhere

  4. It does look weird. My friend circle are largely no Botox so far but in my work I meet a lot of wealthy women in senior roles. A lot of them have Botox, fillers etc. Their beautiful faces look frozen and odd. Talking to them is weird. I find films with Botox-ed actresses so strange and disappointing and love seeing real female faces in movies. It doesn’t look that weird if you use it subtly in your 30s but after a certain age it just looks odd no matter how well it’s done. Look at people with money.

I’m not having a go at those who think otherwise and do Botox, these are my personal reasons and opinions.

Amiacoolorwarmcolour · 28/04/2026 20:45

I’ve recently had lip filler. Not one single person has noticed. Dd, when she saw me said are oh are you not going through with lip filler? When I told her I’d had it don’t she said I should have more done as you can’t tell!
It is incredibly subtle but my lips have gone from extremely thin, to just thin. My lipstick no longer bleeds into my face. I had tried everything and I mean everything to stop my lipstick bleeding. I have used all kinds of lipliners and lipstick brands from YSL, Dior, No 7, Estée Lauder, Elizabeth Arden etc. I had an accident when I was a child, as a result my lips became thinner.
Anyway, I am pleased with the result and can now wear lipstick without it bleeding into my face.

Oh they won't believe you on here. 😂 I've just had a little bit of filler on these lines as I don't want to look like this 😂

Torchout · 29/04/2026 01:21

The thing about botox that hardly anyone mentions are the side effects. Here in the UK theres no registration for people qualified to give it . Even going to a nurse or a dentist doesn't guarantee that they won't be a millimeter out which could be a problem. It also stops working and you'll be left with a flabby muscle where its been paralysed.

bookmarket · 29/04/2026 08:17

It does seem like it is more common in younger women in some parts of the country or social circles.

I do worry that it is going to become the norm to pay for injections (botox or filler) to deal with any facial anomaly. I won't say that I won't ever have anything done - I'm not far off eyelids getting in the way of my vision (genetic) and botox can be a way to deal with it before a blepharoplasty surgery.

But the industry is unregulated in this country for some inexplicable reason.

If you want to see how bad cosmetic work looks on someone in their 30s Google Dr Leah Totton. When she won the apprentice a few years ago she was a very attractive woman. Fast forward a few years and she looks like she's had some work done and now looks a bit odd and somehow not quite right (imo).

It's better to look older than weirder OP !!!

I know Leah Totton. She was a very pretty young woman (mid twenties) when she won The Apprentice. She's now late thirties and still very attractive. I'm sure that being in the industry she has had work done but IMO she looks fabulous and very natural.

Having seen her recently I think we'll have to agree to disagree on what constitutes very natural.
