Will I be the only one who looks my age?

Everyone around me seems to be getting Botox, or other beauty procedures. I’m mid 30s and not keen to go down that route due to the ongoing cost. It’s not cheap! But then I wonder if I’ll end up looking miles older than my peers because of this?

Any other 30-somethings who are not planning to get Botox?

@WestwardHo1 I am 52 and single now and after losing a lot of weight I have baggy skin on the chin/neck and deep lines. Of course I stand in front of the mirror and pull my face back and imagine how much I would love a facelift but in truth I am never going to fuck about with my face. I have no idea if anyone will ever find me attractive again but if they do they will discover the loose skin all over my body too post weight loss.

I look my age, am very fit, sing in a band and dress very well I reckon. I'll just carry on being me with my wrinkly face and hope for the best!

Having seen her recently I think we'll have to agree to disagree on what constitutes very natural.

I think this is a good point

Has anyone ever seen the perfect Instagram face in real life?
Nope
Because they dont exist, its a filter

You will end up looking miles younger than your peers. After seeing people 10 years down the Botox journey I wouldn’t go near the stuff. What are the long term health implications of all those chemicals in your body too?

I think its part of the marketing strategy
Once you are on the wheel you need to have more and more done
Call me cynical but the whole point of the industry is you keep going back and spending money.

As regards long term health, already studies are coming out showing that brain changes , similar to Parkinsons disease take place.
Your facial expressions directly affect your brain and vice versa

It also changes how people interact with you. I couldn't work out why my step son and his friends all found their head teacher creepy till I met her and realised she couldn't make proper facial expressions

We've evolved to be finely tuned into facial expressions and they are such a key communication tool

I want whatever JLo is doing. Obviously she has something done but she still looks good. What is it?

Look up her face sculpting videos where she applies her makeup, Im sure she has tweakments but she is very skilled at doing her make up
Of course bone structure,also helps!

She has had her nose done several times. She had a very wide nose before.

"Looking one's age" is clearly what everyone should logically expect. I would hope we no longer regard it as some kind of weirdly damning assessment.

If you're 35 and look 55, you might have cause for dissatisfaction, but if you look 35, that's fine. Just get on with enjoying life and let others ruin their faces for no sensible reason.

I also think people look older when they have had work done. It might be because we are used to seeing older women with work done that our brain equates work done with being older. A lot of women end up looking the same.
