Anyone interested in a glow-up support thread for tips and accountability?

Is anyone interested in a glow up support thread? I thought it might be nice to have somewhere to keep me accountable, share tips and things to avoid etc.

Glow up can be for any reason, summer, anti-aging, wedding etc?

I’m just about to turn 42, always looked young but in the past few years I have noticed age creeping up on me. I need to lose a bit of weight, need to improve tone and texture of my arms and legs. My face is dull and suffers with open pores so lots to work on for me 😂

Would love to hear from anyone else looking to work on their appearance too 👋

Ah thanks @Chocolatecoffeecup, I felt a bit better today. In all honesty, I think I am just reeling in the aftermath of being made redundant, starting a new job, and feeling a bit bereft without my work friends and colleagues. I miss them, I find my new job hard and quite different, and just feeling grouchy about it all. However, today I actually feel like I’m improving, I’m starting to get it, I’m getting good feedback. And I need to be kinder to myself, it has only been 3 weeks

I sat with my gleam strips in praying that no one would call me! They are weird but not painful or anything, not sure they have made any impact but I have done before photos and will do another after a few days of use.

stuck to my diet plan, went for a nice run 🥵, and drank plenty of water. I had a nice afternoon snack of bbq pop chips and Sprite Zero mint which is my new favourite beverage!

Chocolatecoffeecup · 30/04/2026 21:41

@thenewaveragebear1983 ah all that change is enough to get you down. Glad you're feeling better! I've done two workouts today so I'm happy with that. Food was just okay but I'm worried I ate some raw chicken 🤢 Hoping not!

Eesha · 01/05/2026 06:35

Hi all, just following and kudos to everyone on this journey.

Im walking 15K steps daily now
Brushing hair daily! Colour booked in for early next week
Trying to sneak in a hygienist appointment when work is quieter/kids arent around, will then do the whitening
Same for above for waxing

We had McDonald's yesterday as worked late/kids pestering me but back to home cooking from today!

Chocolatecoffeecup · 01/05/2026 10:35

Hi @Eesha 15K steps a day is great! How do you manage that? I'm doing a steps challenge this month. I'm aiming for 12K a day which is quite a lot...

MrsWhites · 01/05/2026 16:16

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good repairing moisturiser for evenings that is suitable for sensitive and slightly oily skin?

Nothing seems to be agreeing with me at the moment 😢

45 minutes one way?! That's a commitment!

@Chocolatecoffeecup its really not too bad as im always chatting to friends or deep in an audiobook. But when I started, I was stop starting a lot as was shattered. Not sure it helps with the weight but I feel loads better mentally

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/05/2026 06:54

I have done 2 days of my gleam strips and I am already noticing a little difference, not so much in the whiteness exactly but in the uniformity of the colour. I think there will be a difference in whiteness overall if I keep going daily.

LumionaMoonsplash · 04/05/2026 05:58

In the Lake District for a few nights away so not much pampering but being beside beautiful Derwentwater renews my soul. I'm up early but I'm enjoying the bird chorus, we have a woodpecker nearby.
The water here is incredible, my hair is so shiny and soft after washing it. I've missed the gym but got plenty of steps in to counter the craft cider I've consumed 🫠. I have however chosen salads and high protein meals over the chippy when the family went, I am very proud of these healthier choices. Healthier eating is now starting to become natural after 2.5yrs of losing 6st with wli. I do not want to regain any of it, I really like my size now.

I'm planning a facial later tonight when I get home, steam, mask, serum, LED mask, heated eye massager and night moisturiser.

Anyone interested in a glow-up support thread for tips and accountability?

Oh that looks gorgeous Moonsplash and you are right about the water .When I go to Scotland I have to remember to use much less shampoo or showergel as it foams so much more . And my hair is so soft .

Those extra steps in such lovely surrounding must've been a pleasure not a workout .

LBB2020 · 04/05/2026 10:46

Diet and exercise have gone out of the window a bit over the weekend but I have hit between 8,000-10,000 steps.
I’ve done a bit of pampering and feel good for it! Full body scrub including my feet, body lotion and foot cream daily, hair mask, clay face mask and collagen face mask!
Hoping to have time to do my nails this evening once the children are in bed!
Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/05/2026 11:47

Yesterday was hairmask and face exfoliant
I did my pit wax a couple of weeks back so they're fine (one advantage of menopause )
Taking vitamins - I bought some from Nutrition Geeks .
No sweets or cakes for 10 days now , it was tough the first couple of days but then the sugar craving does shut down.

Overnight oats made with soya milk and soya greek yoghurt with some apple sauce
Apple and a spoonful of peanut butter
I made a vegan soup and some foccatia bread which was delicious (we're vegetarian but some things are accidental vegan)

DD has asked for crispy tofu tonight .

I'm on a countdown to my birthday , sorting through summer clothes and trying to decide What To Do With My Hair !

Chocolatecoffeecup · 04/05/2026 17:59

I have a work event tomorrow so I plan to deep condition my hair and give myself a good blow dry. I may try a face mask as well. I'm still working on losing a few lbs but haven't made much progress there yet....

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/05/2026 18:34

Yesterday I ran a half marathon, not exactly a glow up thing but it made me feel good and I feel like my hard training is starting to pay off which is nice.

today I took a little nap and used my gleam strips for the 3rd (or maybe 4th) time. I am definitely noticing more uniform colour on them, not necessarily whiter- but it’s actually incredibly hard to get a decent comparison photo because if shadow and light etc.

today’s a bit off plan because it’s bank holiday, so while I did go to bootcamp and do my strips, I am also eating a bit of a junky dinner and I ate some chocolate.

holiday glow up starts tomorrow though, 3 weeks to go! Lots of exfoliating, water, sort my roots out, sort my feet out.

Eesha · 04/05/2026 18:49

I had a rare child free afternoon so rushed to my waxer for complete overhaul, legs, eyebrows etc. Then there was a last minute appointment at the hygienist who had a cancellation. I am having my hair colored tomorrow. Its looking so bad with the white!! I have to say I do feel a whole lot better now.

Perzival · 06/05/2026 14:51

Hi all, i'm on day eight with the crest whitening strips - I got the age renew ones. I cam see a real change and still have twelve days to go. Sorry, my before pics and during are rubbish with different light etc but I think the ones at the end of the course should (fingers crossed) show a real difference regardless.

I was wondering if anyone has tried any of the Korean collegan overnight masks? I keep getting reels for them and I'm tempted to try but wouldn't mind a few pointers please.

Loving this thread OP, it wasa great idea.

Sandysandytoes · 07/05/2026 06:34

I’ve been really sticking to doing weights at home - I think it’s helping my posture, to the extent that dh thought I had a new bra 🤣.
Fnished the gleam strips and they have made a significant difference - I don’t feel self conscious about it anymore. Teeth still don’t seem as white as other people’s though - I don’t know how they do it!?

I haven't seen those. I don't know if I believe collagen works topically but I'd they're hydrating might be worth a go.

I've been taking nutrition geeks collagen for 3-4 weeks and I can see a difference in my skin.

That's really good that you're seeing a difference. I'm a veggi and tried the seaweed ones, I just couldn't stomach them.

I see adverts for Smoochi too which is a foundation that's supposed to match any skin tone, not sure I believe that one but it'd be amazing if true.

LumionaMoonsplash · 07/05/2026 18:40

Glad the strips are working Perzival.

I had my botox on Tues and I really love the difference it has made. It's been 7m since I last had it done and I haven't been enjoying the many crows feet lately.

I was back at the gym this morning. Today was a no meeting wfh day so wore a collagen mask for a couple of hours this morning.

I've switched from Acrylics to painting my nails at home. I'm terrible at soaking off acrylics so my nails need a lot of love until they grow out. I have a joblot of Sally Hansen polishes that I need to use.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/05/2026 20:00

I take a bovine collagen syrup which was recommended on here and it really has made a difference to my skin and hair.

I also take those mushroom gummies but every time I post about them my post gets blanked out by MNHQ! But honestly I am really impressed with them and definitely feel a difference

Chocolatecoffeecup · 07/05/2026 20:39

@Perzival Never come across Smoochi. I'll look it up!

I was going to share, in terms of make up, I really like the Jones Road miracle balms. They give a really nice glow even on their own if you're just popping out for school run or to the shops. I use it in my lips, cheeks and eyes and it looks nice.

@thenewaveragebear1983 I don't know about the mushroom gummies either. What are they supposed to do?

Perzival · 07/05/2026 21:08

Sorry, it's smooche not smoochi. I'll have a look at Jones Road, thank you.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/05/2026 21:34

@Chocolatecoffeecup I read about them on Facebook as they came up in my algorithm I guess, they are supposed to help with the brain fog, tiredness, sluggish feeling of perimenopause although they aren’t just for women. I’ve been taking 1 a day for about 50 days now and I just feel so much better, I can’t really pinpoint it but I just feel so much brighter and clearer, much less sluggish and tired. And my periods have been so much better the last 2 months. The only difference really is those, even though I do consistently take supplements. Mental health better, less anxious, fewer intrusive thoughts. It’s so weird because I didn’t expect it really. There’s various brands available but the ones I have taken are called ankway (MNHQ will probably censor this as well 🤣)
