Where to find swimsuits for teens?

Latenightpostings · 09/04/2026 23:52

My 13 year old is adult size 12, but she's not into adult shape swimsuits.

She doesn't want low plunging necklines or high legs.

Does anyone know where to get swimsuits in adult sizes that aren't too adult? We're after colourful and fun swimsuits - but ideally not costing the earth!

Would she like the Speedo ones?

They come in her age/size.

Thanks, but will these fit? She's into adult sizes - women's size 12, not kids age 12.

She's taller than average for an adult woman and has the body shape of a young adult, not a child.

IME supermarkets are quite likely to have some non-extreme swimsuits.

clary · 10/04/2026 00:17

Surely by age 13 she just wants an adult swimming costume? I presume she is not hunting for something with characters on?

Speedo costumes are great (I swim a lot and they last really well) and I am sure there will be something in the adult range that would work? They don't do plunging necklines or especially high cut (I'm an old adult and have never wanted either of those things) as they are basically sporty.
Or yes I agree supermarkets have cheaper versions. You do get what you pay for with swimming costumes tho.

Next have decent range of swimming costumes

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 10/04/2026 00:20

My DD, who sounds quite similar to yours at 13 loved those Speedo costumes . They go up to age 16 and it gives a size guide for you to measure her around the chest. I hope you find something suitable.

Buying from the adult range in a size 12. There are loads to choose from.

I would try New Look - teen range (14-15) is close to women’s 10-12, Next and also Decathlon

Batoko are really fun and great quality (and environmentally friendly). They're expensive full price but have a look at the sample sales when on - or people sell them new with tags on ebay/vinted quite a lot

That's really nice, but £44 seems like a lot to me.

We go swimming quite a lot and so I want to get her 2 or 3 swimming costumes as one is never enough as it's always seems to be in the wash or left at a friend's house when you want it!

I was hoping to spend more like £20 each, so about £60 I'm total not £120!

Maybe that's where I'm going wrong, there's plenty available at that kind of price but it all seems to be either overly sexy for DD's tastes or very plain.

Look on Vinted.

Look on Vinted.

For a swimming costume? I get stuff from Vinted for myself, but isn't a second hand swimming costume like a second hand pair of knickers - just not something you do?!

Oh wow, the Batoko stuff is lovely!

Definitely out of my price range though sadly! Will keep an eye out for sales...

You choose new with or without tags option, I’ve had a few new costumes off Vinted, never been disappointed 👍

Bristolandlazy · 10/04/2026 06:09

Primark or New Look. New Look have a 9 to 15 range I believe.

MyTrivia · 10/04/2026 06:12

I would suggest Boden swimsuits. They’re classic and not frumpy.

clary · 10/04/2026 06:38

If Speedo is too ££ Sports Direct sell Slazenger which are similar styles but cheaper. They don't last so well or fit so nicely IMHO but if you want three cheap ones that may be a better bet. £20 is pretty low cost tho.

Chocolate23 · 10/04/2026 06:54

My daughter is 14 and is 5ft8 she is a size 10 sometimes a 12. She has been very curvy since age 11 and also quite tall. She wears the Nike kids tape crossback swimsuit. I got it in Next in black and blue. The tapeback is like a stretchy band and easy to put on. She wears an age 13-15 in kids.

MouldyCandy · 10/04/2026 08:05

Another vote for Decathlon.

If you sign up they'll email when there's a samples sale on - pretty frequent

Clementine12 · 10/04/2026 10:19

Next online, rather than in the shop. Their kids sizes go up to 16 years. Lots of fun patterns and designs.

Brastop has nice swimwear for bigger sizes that aren't really revealing and they've got a big sale on at the moment
