Easter is here and so is a new thread. Who needs chocolate when you can have beauty stuff? Or maybe have both. 💋🍫

Welcome to newbies and welcome back veterans of beauty chat threads.

PS. As a sobering thought we are maybe only 3-4 months out from the first advent calendar spoiler. 😂

I hope that you find them @Beautyfox

IlovePond · 09/04/2026 19:18

Btw: I know you will all share my pain when I tell you that I came home to find that one/both adult DS had been using my Act+Acre ‘trying to help grow my hair/stop it falling out obscenely expensive’ shampoo. It’s gone from almost full to nearly empty.

I had given clear instructions to leave it alone, (thought about hiding it but stupidly decided against it), and left many many other shampoo bottles in the shower for their use.

That, combined with me having to chuck away half my expensive skincare due to not using it in the right order, has really annoyed me today 😿

Sminty2 · 09/04/2026 19:20

Bread and scrape for the little horrors ! @IlovePond

You should immediately treat yourself to something decadent !

OvaHere · 09/04/2026 19:21

Arrgh @IlovePond I'd be furious. Definitely hide stuff from now on and as they are adults and you left clear instruction, make them club together to replace it.

That’s a good box @PeachIcedTeaQueen - I have the pink bestie box en route so will try to restrain myself.

The promotions from SK atm are very good!

IlovePond · 09/04/2026 19:47

If only @OvaHere - apparently it’s my fault, (along with global warming and the plight of the polar bear 🙀)

@Sminty2 - I am currently eyeing up the Boots stuff - it’s in my basket…

SummerLimes · 09/04/2026 19:49

Much sympathy @IlovePond from the mother of a teen beauty adult.

IlovePond · 09/04/2026 19:49

Whatever is going on with my lips atm seems to be being exacerbated this week by the Summer Fridays lip balm I have been using without incident for the last couple of months. I think I will have to add that to the pile of stuff already in the bin.

Can anyone recommend anything for dry/sore lips?

Thanks

IlovePond · 09/04/2026 19:54

Thanks @SummerLimes 😹 - it’s not even as if they would have appreciated it or noticed what they were using and it doesn’t LOOK anything like the other shampoo bottles in there.

Choices included: Radox 2-in-1, Dove ‘men’s’ hair and body wash, Lidl’s shampoo. I wouldn’t even have minded as much if they’d gone mad with the H&B rosemary stuff, but no…

CorneliaStreet · 09/04/2026 20:01

@IlovePond The Lanolips 101 ointment sorts sore lips out quickly (if you’re ok with lanolin). Aquaphor, Lucas paw paw ointment and 8 hour cream also work well for me.

IlovePond · 09/04/2026 20:07

Thanks @CorneliaStreet - I have some 8 hour hand ointment but I don’t know if I could use that on my lips.

I am not sure if I am ok with lanolin, (annoyingly I just sold a Lanolips tube I got in a GWP).

I will have a look online and order a couple of your suggestions - thanks.

Hicupping · 09/04/2026 20:18

The ultimate for very sore cracked lips, or cracked in the corner is blistex in the little metal tubes. https://www.blistex.co.uk/blistex-relief-cream

Doglover73 · 09/04/2026 20:28

Did anyone get this. After initially dismissing it, I saw it on youtube and am now tempted 🤣

i’m Tempted. I really like the medi8 hydra b5 serum so it’s worth it for that alone. I’m actually using it at the moment and it’s one of the very few serums that I would RP and my skin feels great since using it. However, I have an embarrassingly massive stash of serums probably enough to last at least a year or maybe 2, so I really shouldn’t! Decisions, decisions.

Doglover73 · 09/04/2026 21:00

@Beautyfox
Same but 🤣

JoRaRaRa · 09/04/2026 21:09

I thought the look fantastic box was meant to be coming out today, the one where we were all guessing the contents 🤔 I've not seen anything though.

I feel a bit underwhelmed by the choice at the moment, nothing is really exciting me which is probably a good thing after last week's Dior and sephora hauls 🤣

marchduck · 09/04/2026 21:12

@Doglover73I put my hands up to buying too much this month, and yes, this was one of the purchases. It is a substantial box and I think it’s a great selection for the price .
So far iI have used the Mamonde Flora Liquid mask, really lovely product and the Ilyoon barrier cream also nice. I hadn’t heard of these brands before but impressed so far. There are other face creams which I have put away
Some good make up products too -so far I have used the Nars multiple, Dolce Vita which is a lovely shade. Also Sacheu liquid eye colour , I lije this, it’s a lovely rose gold colour. Most surprising for me is Maybelline lash sensational body mascara, really good - I will be buying this again for sure. Much better for my lashes than the Clarins Volume mascara I had been using.
I always look at the Boots boxes and many of them wouldn’t be for me, but I am very happy with this one. I also ordered the Spring refresh skin box, it hasn’t been delivered yet. And I am definitely not buying anything else now 🤣

ElizabethG81 · 09/04/2026 21:41

The Boots Cosmopolitan box is still hanging around and is currently 20% off with the code BEAUTY20, making it £44.

Lanolip 101 is my go to for sore/cracked lips.

Oh no @Beautyfox - I hope you find them 🤞

On a related note: DH once put two parcels I was returning to a shop in the recycling, (this is a man who, in the normal course of events, NEVER puts stuff in the recycling unasked).

This is the same DH who was sent to the post office to return a parcel, got bored halfway there and shoved it into a post box without a return label on it 🙀

@IlovePond 🤣

LoveLabradors · 09/04/2026 21:51

nuxe in a jar is my favourite lip balm. Could be tempted by CB sun if it is one of their cheaper ones. The supergoop was a surprise hit for me last year!

SunnyPinkMoose · 09/04/2026 21:54

That’s a definite yes from me all of those SPF’s. Are good for my skin

LightandBreezy · 09/04/2026 21:54

@marchduck I misunderstood the product name there and was wondering what exactly body mascara was and where you were supposed to apply it 😂
