She often goes to places where there are security risks so maybe that's it.

Sophie that is.

🤣 , I’m glad you edited, I was just thinking ohh maybe that’s why Catherine needs apparently 6 inches off her hair! Safety in case it gets caught!

CreepyCoupe · 19/03/2026 15:34

I’m probably someone that’s said I think Kate’s hair is too long. In my opinion, it is. It’s unquestionably beautiful hair, but I can’t help but think it’s too long.

Too long for who?

therealslimjeffy · 19/03/2026 15:48

ExcellentDaydream · 19/03/2026 15:37

I don't think anyone's bitching about Kate's hair and saying she should chop it off, but some (including me) think she suited it better a bit shorter and on some occasions we think it might have looked better up, we also comment about other Royals women's hair looking better up or down with particular outfits. I think this thread is very good at being constructive without being bitchy.

Maybe not everyone but as someone who lurks and reads more than I post , without fail on every thread that features Catherine, posters arrive to collectively agree that she needs 6 inches at least chopped off ! , always 6 inches, regardless of how long her hair is at the time, then of course we have the comments about “ringlets” looking childish or ridiculous!
these comments are not the same as suggesting an up do would look better with certain outfits or suggesting a different hairstyle.

Indianrollerbird · 19/03/2026 15:53

Same posters. Same remarks. Every single thread. None of it constructive. Catherine clearly likes her hair the way it is, and when she stops liking it that way, she'll no doubt change it. Hair isn't clothes. It's personal, and for many people, part of their identity. It's particularly personal when you have been through cancer. Just my opinion.

Too long for her. It’s know she doesn’t follow fashion, but she’d look fresher and more modern with a few inches off. Just my opinion.

I agree fully, I made a similar comment earlier.

Obviously it’s too long for you , she seems entirely happy with the length it is currently, and since when has having shorter hair been fresher or more modern?

Sidebeforeself · 19/03/2026 16:10

Can we keep this thread “ nice” please? We are allowed to have different opinions of course but I think calling people bitchy is not on. This is my escape from the world thread where I post nonsense about tiaras and whether a dress should be blue or green.!

Quite! Fresher and more modern to whom? The fashion for long, luscious hair died out when exactly? And who is going to tell all the stars and influencers, and all the teens and young women I see walking around with long, thick hair down to their waists?

Just an opinion. I think it’s too long and could look much nicer. Differing opinions are allowed, I believe.

Was just going to post similar myself, long hair has been the go to look for women for literally years now.

I said bitchy remarks. I didn't call anyone bitchy. I think criticising someone's hair (which is not in any way the same as clothing) in the same cut and paste way from thread to thread - pages and pages of it on the last one - is not nice.

Hair styles are part of style in general: I don't think you can divorce the styling of hair from the styling of clothes.

It’s fine to say I think her hair would look better up/down with that outfit, that’s completely different to say she should cut 6 inches off her hair, I don’t recall anyone saying Princess Anne, Meghan, Beatrice, Sophie should cut six inches off their hair so repeatedly, so often, on every thread, if at all.

Add Charlene, Lexi, Mathilde, Maxima, Zara and Rania to that list. Only Catherine's bang on trend (the "waterfall" trend) hair needs to but chopped off.

Exactly! Always 6 inches! , it was 6 inches too long at Wimbledon too apparently, and when she has waves or curls, they are called “ringlets “ and described as “ childish “ and “ridiculous “ , that is completely different to saying “ I’m not keen on her hairstyle here , perhaps a pony tail or up do would look better “

Length is part of style. It's part of the aesthetic of style. For example, I like longer hair on Sophie than the shorter cuts she used to have because I think it works with her overall look in most of the clothes she wears. There is nothing wrong or bitchy for posters to say that they prefer Catherine's hair shorter or not in ringlets. It is more to do with the overall aesthetic of a particular look. People have different aesthetics and therefore different opinions.

Why 6 inches? , why always 6 inches regardless of how long her hair is at the time?
catherines hair has stayed consistently long as long as she’s been in the public eye, I find it extremely suspicious that the minute she becomes a certain age, suddenly her signature style and hair is apparently always 6 inches too long and needs “chopping off” ! , not trimming, not cutting but “ chopping off” , why is that ?

BigWillyLittleTodger · 19/03/2026 17:30

@FraiseRoyale For a start I never said anyone was bitchy, not sure where you got that from and let’s face facts, not one royal woman ever gets told on here that they should cut the obligatory “six inches” off their hair, repeatedly on every thread, especially when said hair is like a magazine advert.

Pallisers · 19/03/2026 17:42

I wish this thread would regain the tone it has maintained through umpteen iterations - a focus on style and beauty that plays the ball and not the woman and not the posters.

RockaLock · 19/03/2026 17:57

There seem to suddenly be a lot of new posters on this thread. I don’t know if they think the long-time posters on this thread all have a vendetta against Kate or something - that’s certainly not the case.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with people saying they think Kate looks better with shorter hair. FWIW, I don’t think anyone on this thread has suggested she should have it cut because she’s too old for it. They just prefer her with slightly shorter hair 🤷‍♀️ It’s just an opinion.

If people were saying “Kate’s nose is hideous, she should get a nose job” or “shes so unattractive” then yes, that would be out of order. But an opinion on hair length? Nah, not seeing it as a problem.

The “6 inches” issue, well, it’s just a convenient measurement to use, isn’t it, when people mean that they think she would suit a reduction in length (as opposed to a trim). I’m sure no one using that expression is literally meaning she should have exactly 6 inches taken off.

And as for the “what about Charlene or Zara - no one ever says they should have 6 inches taken off”. Well. That’s just a ridiculous comment to make, isn’t it, seeing as if they had 6 inches off their hair they’d have almost none left, so clearly no one anywhere is ever going to suggest that for them Hmm

Are there any other bandeau style tiaras that we haven't seen for a while?

I think they would really suit Kate with her current desire to wear her hair down and her preference for smaller tiaras - but as PP stated Eugenie's emerald bandeau has negative York associations and I can't imagine her wanting to wear Meghan's wedding tiara either.

Queen Mary’s sapphire sunray bandeau is right there…. (well, I hope so!). I have been hoping to see it worn again for years now. It would be good with a hair down tiara look.

Maireas · 19/03/2026 18:25

The wedding tiara? Cartier Halo. That's quite small, in comparison.
