This is a very casual day dress. I think you would feel very out of place at a wedding wearing this. Perhaps of you state and budget and your size people can suggest something for you that’s appropriate?

LucyLoo1972 · 16/02/2026 20:21

oh thats lovely

MyNextDoorNeighbourVotesReform · 16/02/2026 20:26

You'd have to dress it up quite a bit, @Kpiallo , but if you genuinely can't afford more and haven't time to search for another outfit, then wear it with sparkles!

Talkingtomyhouseplants · 16/02/2026 20:30

No it’s far too casual

goz · 16/02/2026 20:31

No, I can’t imagine this at any wedding I’ve ever been to. It’s a cheap work dress a 20 year old would wear.

FussyFancyDragon · 16/02/2026 20:48

It’s a cute dress, but I’d wear it to work and not to a wedding. Def try Vinted.

ImPamDoove · 16/02/2026 20:51

It’s extremely casual. Fine if it’s a register office followed by drinks at a pub. Not otherwise.

ApolloandDaphne · 16/02/2026 20:59

It's fine. Really it is. I'm going to a wedding soon and wearing a dark brown jersey dress. I plan to bling it up a bit and then i still have a dress I can wear to lots of other things. You need a dress you can wear more than once.

OneNewEagle · 16/02/2026 21:00

What else do you have in your wardrobe op? I’ve lived on a really low income in the past and had to wear stuff I already had. So say a skirt and plain top and found a little jacket in the charity shop for a fiver. It’s possible you’ve got something already you can wear so you don’t have to spend anything. How long until the wedding?

cramptramp · 16/02/2026 21:05

No. I think it’s far too casual. New look have lots of dressier dresses atm.

PhaedraWas · 16/02/2026 21:09

dudsville · 16/02/2026 19:35

I think it's a fine dress and a lovely colour. I also agree with the poster about wearability. Us mere mortals do not need single use fancy dresses.

I think it's fine, more than fine. I never buy anything to only be worn once.

I agree about "fancy dress as what a wedding guests is supposed to look like, clearly wearing something completely different to anything they'd usually wear."

Harrietsaunt · 16/02/2026 21:11

Too casual

PhaedraWas · 16/02/2026 21:12

The OP's dress is much nicer than that.

PawMaw · 16/02/2026 21:14

No, it's not in anyway suitable for a wedding no matter what suggestions you get to fancy it up. This is something I would wear day to day.

Look in Quiz. Most of their dresses are wedding guest suitable and budget friendly.

Rockstick · 16/02/2026 21:14

I think it's fine, better than any of the other suggestions here.

OneNewEagle · 16/02/2026 21:18

If you do have the £30 for an outfit eithout going without there’s a few other dresses around thst might be better. Matalan have quite a few if you have one where you live so won’t have to pay deluvery as well. This is a bit smarter and you’d only need some plain tights and shoes. If it’s this time of year just your normal coat over for outside.

I agree.

A nice dress for work or for pub lunch, but worn to a wedding I think you would look under dressed and then feel self conscious.

OneNewEagle · 16/02/2026 21:28

Be kind everyone. If the op can only afford £30 it’s a new outfit for her to wear. She might have things to go with it. Also the other comments it might be a register office wedding we don’t know that it’s not, we don’t know the ages or anything. Over the years I’ve worn some cheaper outfits than this to special occasions, or just stuff I already own as that’s all I could afford. It still meant I got to share the special day with the bride and groom and I had enough money for a wedding gift for them.

There are countless options better than this even for £30. It’s not remotely suitable for the event, the cost isn’t the problem, it’s the fact that it’s a casual, short sleeved knit mini dress.

That's an office dress ; and not even a smart office dress.

The OP may do better to look through her wardrobe, and see what else she can find to wear. At least then, she will not be weighing out, on a dress, which looks very casual.

Not with great makeup and hair.
