Older bride - what to wear with this sequin jumpsuit?

Second time bride here, mid 50’s. I’m getting married again in a couple of months and we are having a fun, informal family and friends wedding. I’m wearing the jumpsuit below, but have no idea how to dress it up (does it need it?) to make it more bridal. In particular what to do with my hair? A hat? A hair band? A flower? I have very short hair and it’s fine and menopausal so options are pretty limited! It’s from Phase Eight.

also any ideas for jewellery? Shoes?

the colour scheme for flowers is orange and pink (clashing!) My future husband is wearing a fabulous dark orange velvet suit, adult bridesmaids in a deep dark pink.

I got this headband off Etsy and have worn it at few times and got compliments I’m over 50.

Pink or orange chunky heels, matching bouquet I’d keep hair accessories to a minimum and not add anything to the jumpsuit it’s perfect as is.

You said very short hair. Is your hair properly short, ie cropped? Photo of similar style if so?

If it's just short as in a very short bob, ie you still have some length on top & can leave it down or put up with some strands down (like the model in the picture), then you could wear some kind of thing in your hair. I personally hate most of them though ...!!! And you're not following convention anyway?!

Something happens to normally fashionable & well-dressed women at weddings - so many end up wearing weird hairbands/fascinators/floral things in their hair.

These often cost a fortune, yet look as if they came from Claire's Accessories - & the wearer looks as if they should be drinking cider in a field at an 80s weekender festival ...

I blame the Royals! (For quite a lot of things actually, but especially fascinators!! 😁)

If you have very short hair, & your neck is exposed, I think to hell with minimalist jewellery & all the usual quietly pretty stuff - go for long jewelled earrings in pink &/or orange!!! If chosen well they will be dramatic, not tacky - your wedding cllour scheme is already richly dramatic!

Wear bright pink or orange lipstick (whichever suits you better - if you're cool colouring go hot pink, warm then go orange). Then clash your earrings - unless you can find a pair that combines both colours?

I like the metallic pink Penelope Chilvers sandals & the Moda in Pelle ones too. The Esska ones are lovely - if they are a good match for the bridegroom side of things.

Despite laying the blame for fascinators on the Royals, this is an instance with jewellery where Kate really got it right. From Zara!!

I think the jumpsuit has a kind of care-free fabulousness about it, and wouldn't want to take that away by adding too much to it.

I know what you mean, & if I was just wearing it on an evening out I would keep it simple.

However, the OP is not on a night own on her own - she's getting married. And will be carrying pink & orange flowers, her groom will be in deep orange velvet, & her bridesmaids in deep rich pink. If she doesn't add anything via footwear/jewellery etc to tie in with her husband & bridesmaids, I think she's in danger of just looking like one of the guests?

Then I wouldn't add a belt/sash in pink or orange, as others have suggested - it will cut you in two, make you look shorter & detract from the elegant long line of the jumpsuit?

• Chunky bracelet & earrings
• No necklace, let the outfit do the talking
• Change the belt to a better one to pull in your waist, gold or silver.

I’d see what white ‘bridal’ trainers (with beading/sequins on them looked like with the jumpsuit, you can find them in boutique bridal shops). But I love flats and would prefer trainers over the suggestions on here. I absolutely love the jumpsuit though. Have a wonderful day! Congratulations.

That's exactly what I had in my head for the Frida khalo style headband.

Block heels in the same colour - suit the outfit still some comfort and will add the most height

I like the idea of 2 of the fresh flowers (orange and pink) for your hair - the florist should be able to make up a hair piece for you.

Jewellery I would keep simple to silver earrings only.
