Older bride - what to wear with this sequin jumpsuit?

Second time bride here, mid 50’s. I’m getting married again in a couple of months and we are having a fun, informal family and friends wedding. I’m wearing the jumpsuit below, but have no idea how to dress it up (does it need it?) to make it more bridal. In particular what to do with my hair? A hat? A hair band? A flower? I have very short hair and it’s fine and menopausal so options are pretty limited! It’s from Phase Eight.

also any ideas for jewellery? Shoes?

the colour scheme for flowers is orange and pink (clashing!) My future husband is wearing a fabulous dark orange velvet suit, adult bridesmaids in a deep dark pink.

thanks all!

Love these shoes.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 30/01/2026 15:27

I would look for some amazing dangly earrings if you have short hair. Something that will really stand out. I wouldn't do a fascinator or a scarf and just a long simple chunky pendant into the V neckline

Bit extravagant but this jeweller does a lot of statement jewellery so just a sample of what I mean. You won't want too much if you are going to be jumping around to a ceilidh either.

Id do silver heels in satin or sandals for the ceremony and pics and have a pop of colour later for the dancing in something more practical.

Love this sequined outfit 🤍
Loved the fascinator 🧡
Loved the shoes 💕

The idea of a Frida Kahlo style hair band is fab 👌
@Teabelly71

What colour are your wedding flowers? 💐
You say you have short hair, so I immediately thought of bejewelled hair clips /Bobby pins such as this...

Congratulations💐 That jumpsuit is Wow, i love it. Bright orange shoes will look fab. Have a great day x

If you need an extra layer for warmth could you get a matching jacket to the groom?

OneHundredDays · 30/01/2026 16:26

Nothing more to add to the brilliant suggestions already given but the jumpsuit is stunning and the whole theme sounds fabulous. I'd love you to share some pics of the big day with us here.

Wishing you a fantastic wedding day!

Have a look at Esska shoes, they were what immediately sprang to mind.

Yes! A bit spends but I managed to dance all night in mine

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 30/01/2026 18:45

Oh I bloody love that jumpsuit!

Bikergran · 30/01/2026 18:50

That's gorgeous. Depends on your hairstyle, really, what you do, if it's long you could have it put up with a couple of sparkly combs, if it's short see if you can get hold of that hairspray with silver sparkles in it. Personally I'd have sparkly dangly earrings, if you can tolerate them. Have a wonderful day!

Loub1987 · 30/01/2026 19:31

No advice, but it looks fantastic! Have the best day x

Fahdidahlia · 30/01/2026 19:35

I think a white furry/fluffy bolero esque jacket could just finish the outfit off for the formalities with some irregular choice lace white heels (if only they had not folded...my favourite shoes). A flower braid mixed with your hair platted across the front of your head as headband would look epic.

I am so glad you've found love and happiness and are celebrating in your own way. It sounds amazing!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/01/2026 19:47

I love Phase Eight ( or Face Ache as my DH calls it ) I wore a royal blue jumpsuit similar style for the 30th WA

The legs are really long , I'm 5'5" so average height , I had to buy heels or have it turned up,

10 minutes advance warning to go to the loo , don't let it dip into the toilet water WinkEnjoy your wedding

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/01/2026 20:14

I wouldn’t put anything colourful over it, but a silvery grey faux fur little jacket could be lovely.

I don’t like the idea below of having a jacket to match the groom’s. I think it would diminish both outfits.

WhosMadeline · 30/01/2026 20:18

Fantastic! I would swap that sash/tie belt for a cinch belt and add a flower crown headband with the orange and pink flowers.
fabulous!

Capillaryaction · 30/01/2026 20:29

I LOVE that jumpsuit so much! So funky
Good for you OP!
Love the bold sound of the other colours too.

rockingroller · 30/01/2026 20:32

Orange or pink shoes and matching hat and earrings. Pink lipstick. No other jewellery.

fucketyfucketyfuckerty · 30/01/2026 20:45

Depends entirely on what you are into. I did see a piece that birkenstocks are doing bridal versons I think, which honestly, if your style, yes!

OneNewEagle · 30/01/2026 20:49

Pale shoes to match and white or silver, whichever looks the best, faux fur bolero. A pair of earrings and your bouquet.

enjoy your special day.

i am in the planning stages of my first wedding, also in my 50s, and would love to wear something like this. but at 5ft4 their clothes are usually far too long for me.

MakeYourOwnSunshine · 30/01/2026 09:32

It's not very bridal. Confused

why on earth would a mid 50s woman want to have the blushing bride look? a family friends mother got married for the 3rd time at 60 a couple of years back and wore a proper wedding dress with a veil with her daughters and granddaughters as bridesmaids, it was absolutely ridiculous looking.

dogsarebetterthanppl · 30/01/2026 20:58

hey @Teabelly71 i love the jumpsuit and hope you and your soon to be husband have a long and blissfully happy marriage. i had a look for a pink and orange headband and this is the only one i could find it isn't to my taste at all but you might like it. i think i would buy a thin black band and some cheap artificial flowers in your colour scheme and glue them on. for shoes, these ones are very nice to me, but i'm maximalist to the core.

CharlieChaplin99 · 30/01/2026 21:32

Whats your hair and colouring like OP and what heel or no heel would you be most comfortable wearing?

The jumpsuit would look great either option 1 styled very minimally (let the jumpsuit and your personality shine) with either shoes that tone in and minimal accessories and a nice hair slide and neutral flowers.

Although I imagine you possibly have red/auburn hair and have probably chosen your husbands bright suit colour. So option 2 you could either just introduce the bright clashing colours in your footwear, hair slide and or hair flowers and a big bright clashing colours bouquet. But I think option 3 wear all the bright colours, go mad, get noticed and truly enjoy your big day.

I’m only 5 foot 4 too - I hoping some chunky shoes will eliminate the length issue otherwise I’ll get it taken up. I’m in my happy place browsing all the shoe links on this thread at the moment 🙂🙂🙂
