Are these timeless?

Firstly, I love love love this so please don't shit on them if they're not your style. Would you say the patent leather are more timeless than the textured fabric? Also, are the lower heels less nice?

In response to the OP's update.
It's good you have come to the conclusion that a strangers opinion doesn't matter.
Some people will give honest opinions (and you did ask for them) some will be deliberately nasty, because as is often quoted when people are asked why they are anonymously horrible on the internet...'because I can be'.

If you love the shoes, buy them and wear them with pride.
Sod what I, or anyone else here thinks.😎

Shoes (and accessories) age differently to clothing. With shoes, it is the heel and toe shape that changes. While the Dior shoes might not necessarily always be on trend, they are a timeless piece - full of Dior house codes - that can be worn pretty much forever. Buy them and may every step you take in them bring you joy!

I have a pair of two-tone Chanel slingback pumps from the 80s. They're a different shape toe and heel to the current iteration, but I still wear them as they are quintessentially Chanel.

Edited for typo

TealReader · 27/01/2026 14:44

OP I hope you love your shoes. Nothing is truly timeless, everything dates. If you love them, can afford them and think you’ll wear them lots then do it. I bought myself a very pricey skirt recently and made sure I had at least 5 ways to wear it before purchasing. Cost per wear is important to me!

Are they comfortable. I keep looking at them and the ballet flats but I have awkward toes. My Gucci loafers are like slippers! Every time I have been past the Chanel concession in Selfridges they have been very busy and I don;t like to try them on as I'm not sure about getting them yet>

Vinvertebrate · 27/01/2026 17:27

I would have adored those shoes at age 25. Now that I’m 50, I’m concerned about how grubby the white ribbons would get with each wear, and how on earth I would clean them (and with what magic stain potion) without ruining the shape and slingback-ness.

Enjoy them while you’re young and carefree! (And pop back for cleaning tips…)

Purplecatshopaholic · 27/01/2026 17:43

Love all of them. Patent most of all.

nOlives · 27/01/2026 18:16

The tape is tacky. Of course they're not timeless. They will date very fast.
If you like them buy them and wear them a lot till the next fashion catches your eye.

OreganoandFeta · 27/01/2026 19:30

I was hoping it would be Dior when I saw the word timeless. I have recently been to the Galerie Dior on Paris and the dresses on display there truly are timeless and it's an incredible experience I would recommend to anyone. These shoes, however, not so much because of the visible branding on the white bits. Some people will love that, but others will find it a bit tasteless (think "new money" derogatory comments in the film Titanic). I guess it depends on your taste and where you live. New York probably fine, but no Parisianne would wear them.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 27/01/2026 20:25

@NutellaEllaElla have you bought them yet?
As would love to see which ones you went for & also to get my my free shopping kicks

Erm - Op has actually asked for what people think.

I don’t understand how the previous poster got called out for being insulting, when the same people responded by calling them rude, pathetic, spiteful etc themselves! Not to mention multiple people also negatively mentioning the branding.

The shoes put me in mind of expensive gift wrapped chocolate boxes. I think they are cute in a humorous way. Not a fan of the patent leather though, too much. flash.

GertieLawrence · 27/01/2026 21:00

I don’t love them, but still wish I could a) afford them and b) wear them 😭

ExceptionTreat · 27/01/2026 21:13

Go for the top one. Fabric and high heels. Life is short and the world is shit. If these bring you joy and you can afford them, get them asap. Hope you enjoy wearing them!

NewYorkLondonParis · 28/01/2026 00:59

The branded label makes them tacky. “Look at me, I’ve got some Dior shoes! Aren’t I the bees knees!” All you need is a Gucci or Chanel t-shirt to finish the look. They’re definitely not timeless and classic. Sorry, if I’ve hurt your feelings, OP. I’m sure the grandmotherly types on the thread will be along to put some ointment on the wound. Stay strong.

LunaTheCat · 28/01/2026 05:28

They ate all gorgeous .. I love your attitude and I hope that you get heaps of enjoyment.

NutellaEllaElla · 28/01/2026 06:57

So you think they’re the bees knees? 😉
@TracyBeakerSoYeah no, I won’t buy them online so have to wait until I can try them on in store and the special occasion isn’t just yet

I have the black fabric ones I bought a few years ago, I had originally wanted one of the patterned fabric ones. I'd definitely recommend trying them on, the ladies in Dior Selfridges are lovely.

I absolutely love them and always feel a million bucks when I've got them on (but maybe that's my crass insecurity talking 😉) That said, they are spectacularly uncomfortable as they put my weight right under my toes on the ball of my feet. I get round it somewhat with gel insoles but they are not for an event they requires extensive standing or walking.

They also clean easily, I dropped a massive splodge of mayonnaise on them once (now that IS classy!) and they look good as new still.

Newmeagain · 28/01/2026 09:52

The problem is the white tape - even if you are extremely careful, it will start looking dirty quickly. They are shoes for people who can afford to only wear them a handful of times.

Erm....you obviously haven't read or understood her update.

TheCurious0range · 28/01/2026 12:38

I like the shape but I think the branded ribbon dates them. I always think of timeless as being very simple. I would also worry about the white getting grubby

Basquervill · 28/01/2026 12:51

No they aren’t timeless. You can’t ban people from giving their point of view on a public thread on the internet. Yet. At least not about shoes. Yet.

I think they are mega cringe. They look like an advert for Dior, if you were wearing them I’d think you'd got them free from a promo.

tuvamoodyson · 28/01/2026 13:11

SPQRomanus · 25/01/2026 19:43

Having very obvious branding like that is neither timeless, classic or elegant. It just shouts " look how much money I can spend on shoes and I'm not used to having money, I'm an insecure person so I've got to boast about it".
A similar style just all in black is much more timeless.

This x 1,000!

Janie143 · 28/01/2026 16:44

I think the base of all 3 is lovely but a PP have said I think the cream fabric tie will turn manky in no time.

BoudiccaRuled · 28/01/2026 16:56

Not much point going for "timeless" patent with such an untimeless design though, surely?
I quite like them, but wouldn't imagine you will want to wear them by then end of 2027 tops.

NewGoldFox · 28/01/2026 18:03

I prefer the taller textured however the patent might be more wearable. All of them nice in their own way.

MaggieBsBoat · 28/01/2026 18:40

Love love love!!!
