Size 14 wide leg jeans that don’t make me look like a clown? 🤡

I’m early 40s, relatively new mum, and really want to get into the wider leg jeans trend. I’m a size 14 and carry a lot of weight on my bum and thighs. So my current Levi ‘straight leg’ jeans actually look more skintight than they do on the model.

I tried some wide leg jeans on yesterday and honestly looked like I’d escaped from the circus. I looked, frankly, ridiculous.

Where can I go to get age- and shape-appropriate jeans?

One final thing, a high rise is a must. Cannot be mid or low rise.

Second these. I'm 5ft7 and size 14 and they are flattering. Plus Next denim tends to stretch a bit, so more comfy.

I think you look fine in them OP but agree that they suit cropped or boxy tops best.

I just don’t think they are very flattering for anyone. I wear what suits me.

I'm 5' 6" and a size 8-10 and I feel ridiculous in mine. I have three pairs, NEXT, Levis and 7 for all mankind.

There's just too much material flapping around and dont get me started on the trip hazard going up stairs!

M and S Palazzo. I'm 5 foot 2 pear shaped 14 and for some reason they look bloody good on me.

I think the problem is if the jeans are too baggy on the thighs. You need to wear them close fitting on your hips and then start to widen an inch or so lower on the thighs.

I just went to type exactly this. When they fit really well through the hips and groin area they can be really flattering.

I think they’re really difficult to get right. I’m a 12 and pretty short and I’ve tried but they just look silly. I think unless you have very long legs they’re just not flattering. They are too wide on the thigh. I’ve gone to kick flare or bootcut instead and they are much more flattering and not as dated as skinny.

I'm size 12-14, big bum and big legs and only wear wide leg or baggy jeans. H&M high rise baggy are my current go-tos.

New look adalae. Not somewhere i shop often but theyre the only wide leg jeans i've found that fit and are comfy and look good. Size 16. They come in 3 leg lengths too.

Abercrombie curve fit jeans are my go to! The curve is for ladies with larger bums / hip and honestly can’t fault them

I'm short and avoid wide legged jeans.

Even back in the 90s when I was a size 10 they didn't look good on me.

Try secret sales, i got some black high waist wide leg river island ones on there and i love them. Im the same size as you but 5"8. They had lots of them a few weeks ago in different brands and colours. Also get the label and love the sales have nice ones at bargain prices.

Yes I’m sorry OP but I agree with you, they are not the style for you or many people at all, I like kick flares, tight on the thigh, flared at the bottom, I find them really flattering.

I actually think they look nice on.

I bought the katchme 'viral' wide leg jeans on tik tok shop, after seeing so many people look good in them and trying many pairs from the usual places. They are such a good fit!! I've bought them in two colours. I'm not usually someone that falls for the hype but I genuinely love them.

Bonus they were under £30!

Maybe a darker denim? I think you will look great - in this photo we are only seeing your legs, so we are not taking in all of you. We are always so critical of ourselves.

I have some from Frame that are really flattering, size 30 or 31, but you will need to be tall or have very long legs.

It’s the top too, this is the but I find hard. Would look better tucked in

They are called Frame slim palazzo.

They need to be an inch or two longer and your top needs to be cropped. The fading pattern isnt great, get denim that isnt as faded on the legs.
