May I join please? 20+ years on MN but had totally missed this wonderful corner!

Although with my product stash / backlog, I probably don’t need any extra encouragement 😳 Actually, had never thought of selling the unwanted products, so that could be a win. At the moment, they just sit there making me feel guilty.

Can I ask if anyone has actually tried the Swede blush from the Cult box? It’s really orange, which is putting me off. I loved the Westman Aterlier petal blush last Xmas, which I’m still using and probably need to replace soon. Would welcome any recommendations.

And to whoever was asking about concealer: I’ve just picked up a new IT Cosmetics one which works really well under the ITC tinted moisturiser/ foundation cream. No creasing and seems to in place.

Finally, no tartan, but here’s a pic of the Fillypooch. Lovely to meet you all 💜

For those asking about the Sweed blush from the edit, here is a picture of me with it, think my comment to my friend was it is more scary in the packaging.
I am away but can post some swatches on Wednesday.

Loving all of the pet photos. Welcome @Fillybuster you've come to the right place…or wrong place if you like to keep money in your bank account 😅

I offered the rose D&G eye shadow. I was tempted by the browns as well but having seen it posted compared to the ABH palette, I’m glad I didn’t go for it, as I don’t think I’d use it much. It is nice, just not the shades I’d necessarily use.

Anthrofail · 01/02/2026 15:58

I've fallen at every hurdle on no buy January. There's been too many good sales! I've kitted the whole house out at Dunelm. Only pan from lakeland. Urban Outfitters iets frans, whole new wardrobe for dc. John lewis le creuset mugs, coffee table, knife block. X rocker gaming table for dc. Beauty stuff: gisou set from space nk, then a tatcha set, d&g palette, and a Sunday Riley set from sephora.
There's been others that I just can't remember, I was going to say the only thing I haven't purchased is shoes, but then I remembered i ordered sandals from m&s. So at this point I can only say the only thing I haven't purchased in January is a car, or a house.

BlueLimes · 01/02/2026 16:10

@Anthrofail looks like you didn’t purchase pet - so very restrained.

@IlovePond I don’t know if I’m doing the correct thing with supplements, I’ll take a pic for you later. Apparently collagen powder is better but I use tablets for ease.

ChicDenimCat2 · 01/02/2026 16:26

Hi all, hope you’re well!
I’ve caved and ordering the FTF bundle, but I’ve also seen they have a ‘date night glow’ mystery bundle for £19.99 - does anyone know what’s in this?!

CorneliaStreet · 01/02/2026 16:37

I wasn’t too bad in January. I bought a load more Lush stuff and more body lotion I didn’t need, but I managed not to buy any skincare or make up. I am absolutely itching to buy something now though, have fantasy shopping baskets full all over the place.

No dog here but we do have this pair of reprobates.

Welcome to one of the nicest corners of MN @Fillybuster 😊

MathsFiend · 01/02/2026 17:20

Bobbi Brown has 20% off almost everything plus free gifts with minimum spend. Some of the Christmas gifts are reduced by more.

Scottish skincare brand Ishga is doing a special offer if you buy a 50ml of their marine cream moisturiser you get a 30ml free. There's 3 different versions at different price points, and you can buy the cheapest 50ml and get the most expensive 30ml. E.g. i bought the balancing cream and £71 and got the hydra+ cream which retails at £88 for free. Their products are lovely.

Puravida23 · 01/02/2026 17:29

I will preface this with I was doing dry January so giving up one vice was my limit This month I have bought:
John Lewis : the rejuvenate beauty box mainly for the AA relax oil which I love but I am partial to any relax/destress products
Cult Beauty: Tom Ford perfume with 40% code, the reduced ultimate holiday edit mainly for the KS serum
Next: Lucy Meckenburgh wellness box mainly for the Dermologica cream
Sephora: the gift10 code combined with £25 of rewards from buying the advent sent me giddy and I bought Tatcha moisturiser set , Tatcha glittery lip mask, the D&G eyeshadow and Medicube PDRN serum
Harrods: resisted the Elemis, Tatcha advent calander bargains as I just couldn’t face having so many more products entering the house but did buy the crystal noir perfume set as love the scent
Boots: Biodance mask set and the Soap and Glory reduced set as teenagers in the family like them , these will be used for stocking fillers (and possibly me)
Face the Future: The mystery set for the Decree (only one though considering another but know I shouldn’t)
Debenhams: The self care edit managed to get discount codes to bring it down to £29 , bought mainly for the Lancome but quite interested in Murad too and sucker for a neck cream
TKMaxx: Went candle crazy and bought a Diptyque candle and 2 Floral street ones. Slight regret on this as always forget to light them and I have loads already. I could take them back I have the receipt , I know I won’t though
Clothes wise I have bought a pair of boots and some thermals for skiing in March and some sealskinz gloves for outdoor bootcamp
What I haven’t bought but is taking up head space at the moment : the Jarrolds Good vibes box
That is a lot and probably explains why the Evri delivery guy is so friendly. I actually might start doing this exercise as an ongoing exercise every month as slightly shocked it is so much
On the plus I am trying harder to sell items I won’t use through Vinted/Ebay . I have sold the Benefit blemish mask Medik8 toner and nail varnish from some of the sets above this month to offset the cost

Help, won't somebody please enable me in the direction of lip balm? I've just realised I left my Summer Fridays clear lip balm in Norway last weekend and I'm pretty gutted!

Well, yes, you might well point out all the other lip balms I have, but I don't feel that's quite in the spirit of this thread.

Should I just rebuy the same lip balm? I returned from Norway and almost immediately had to have knee surgery so I could do with a treat.

I'm not going to enable you @DidILeaveTheGasOn , I'm going to encourage you to use one of your other balms, or at least sell something on Vinted or Ebay to cover the cost of a new SF balm?

JoRaRaRa · 01/02/2026 08:43

@Cyclingmummy1 Nothing in January?! 😱 With all those sales flying around?! You are clearly an angel of resistance 😇 The rest of us went down like a pack of dominoes the minute the Elemis ac was discounted! 🤣 Enjoy York, my home town, such a beautiful place 😍

Nothing, and lots out via vinted and recycling points.

Looking forward to York, we're going to the Ivy and I want to visit a couple of nice shops in bought from last year. We're booked for Jorvik as well.

IlovePond · 01/02/2026 18:01

Cute dog @Fillybuster - welcome to the thread!

@CorneliaStreet - so cute!

Thanks @BlueLimes - much appreciated.

I have bought a LOT of lip products in the last few months:
Tatcha kissu (stick version, from the lucky bag): meh
Skincycles lip tint from the Harrods BAC: love, bought a second on Vinted. Wouldn't buy full price
Lanolips ointment: meh
Ultra violette spf50, tinted (trial size): weirdly absolutely love this, will buy a FS in summer
Wonderskin lib rehab therapy oil: meh
By Terry baume de rose (stick, bought on Vinted): don't like this
Ole Hendrickson new sugar melt lip scrub: as per the reviews the packaging is terrible, but I like it
Laneige glowy balm: like this - easy to use, smells nice, looks nice. Doesn't last long
Laneige sleeping mask: really like this and bought a full size after trying 4 minis. But, the full size has lasted so long I'm bored of it
Gisou honey lip mask: just bought this, prefer it to Laneige

But my favourites are:

Clinique moisture surge: I don't like Clinique but bought based on reviews and am irritated that it's my favourite - easy to apply, right consistency, just the one I reach for every day

and

Nivea blue stick: cheap as chips, have used it for as long as I can remember, still end up using it frequently and probably should never have bought any of the others...

Shockingly there are probably quite a few others I've forgotten and still some on my wish lists (including summer fridays, which I almost bought in SNK yesterday) 😳

And I am not going to list what I spent in January. Because I could probably list just as much in any other category of makeup/skincare that I've bought since Black Friday and I'm starting to accept that I definitely have a problem 😆

Ooo I'd not seen this one. It says it's worth £140, and if we're thinking it's the sparkle edit leftovers then I'd suspect:
Rodial booster drops £80
Allies of skin cleanser £38
Gatineau golden glow tan £22

Maybe someone will take one for the team and buy it then let us know 🤞🤣

I wonder if there's going to be more. I'll defo pick it up if there's an augustinus bader the rich cream shape 😍

JoRaRaRa · 01/02/2026 18:29

The shapes fit 😁

@namechange0998776554799000 I also bought another SC lip balm from the Harrods ac on vinted. I love having a boujee lip balm, it's so hydrating and the colour is lovely 😍

Fillybuster · 01/02/2026 18:56

@JoRaRaRa (or anyone) please tell more about the Decree serum. How would that stack with, for example, the Rodial drops?

I feel like my nighttime routine might be missing a few stages. At the moment it’s: wash (usually Cerave, sometimes Liz Earle), Fig 1 retinol, cerave night eye cream & (at the moment) Fresh or Lumene night cream.

I’ve also just opened the Kate Somerville serum and the rose oil from the Cult edit, to add into the mix.

IlovePond · 01/02/2026 14:05

What a lovely dog @Doglover73 - glad pup is on the mend. How old is he?

The recovering one is 9.
The all black is 6 and the pup/gremlin is 3 and a half months x

AndeanFlamingo · 01/02/2026 19:15

Which shade is the Sweed blush that people keep talking about (the orange one)? I suit orangey shades so I'm wondering if I should be looking for it on Vinted...

Doglover73 · 01/02/2026 19:18

Its lucky.
Nadine Baggot listed it in th times the other week as one of her recommended buys. It was in a cult edit so presume theyll be some on vinted. Ita sold out now. Ive not tried mine yet x

I wouldn't stack these 2 products. The rodial booster drops are best for mornings to plump and hydrate the skin for the day. Decree Treat Tincture is more of a treatment serum and works best at night. It helps with texture, congestion, uneven tone and breakouts over time, so it’s more about long term skin improvement.

I think your night time routine sounds fine. Maybe just use the oil at the end of your routine if you feel your skin needs a bit more hydration.
