Here’s a thing - cord trousers

I need some cords - I’ve fallen out of love with jeans and I’m hunting for a nice pair of cords if anyone can recommend any nice ones please? Not geography teacher style mind you. 🙂

I’ve got some burgundy flared cords from M&S which are very comfortable and the material is quite soft. I think they do 4 different lengths which is great for us shorties. (They also do straights and multiple colours).

Anthropologie has nice cords.

I normally wear DMs or Converse with mine.

VenusClapTrap · 29/11/2025 12:48

I’ve got these from Fat Face. They’re described as chocolate brown but they’re really not; they’re more plum/burgundy. I’ve rarely had them off since I bought them a couple of weeks ago. Had lots of compliments and they’re so comfortable.

Also available in teal - I might have to get some of those too.

On the question of footwear, I wear brown clog boots with them. But I wear my clog boots with everything in the winter!

I got some from JL last year that have been great, and that I think are these (I got black which they don't seem to do now): https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-flared-corduroy-trousers/p114073061.

Agree with reviews that they come up a bit large, so size down if you're between.

I wear with trainers or ankle boots.

Another vote for Lucy and Yak! Love their cord dungarees as well.

Thanks so much everyone for all your recommendations. Plenty here to keep me busy! ☺️

I came to say Uniqlo barrel leg but someone has beaten me to it! Comfy, really good shape and flattering with some nice rich colours.

TheChosenTwo · 29/11/2025 13:45

I got a navy pair from Nobody’s Child a while ago. Lovely but perhaps a tad geography teacher vibes, especially when I wear my brown cardigan with them 😂
When I put the outfit together Dh asks me when I’m off to pick up the grandkids (we don’t have any, he just insinuates that my clothing really ages me but luckily I don’t listen to him, I believe I look brilliant 😂).

If anyone can share tips on how to wash and dry cords without getting big white lines all over them I’d be most grateful. I’ve pretty much given up because of this.

I have a Seasalt pair of navy cords and this never happens. I use non bio washing powder and don't use conditioner.

Don't wash inside out.

I have these from Massimo Dutti.
Wide leg and also quite long so had them shortened.
Lovely sheen to them so they're a bit more dressy.
Also have some wide leg ones from M&S. They're ok for everyday

It really depends which suits your shape and preferences best.

I've seen the M&S slim flare cords looking great on other people but I was in my 20s in the 1990s and have no desire to go back there LOL.

I've also seen Uniqlo barrel leg looking great on others but they look terrible on my short legs.

The &Other stories wide leg burgundy cords have fit the bill for me and the hip/waist size and zip length work for my short height/petite frame. Other brands were baggy at the crotch on me.

I live in my Next wife leg cords. They’re not actually that wide. I have two black pairs!
they’re so comfy.
i wear them with skater type trainers or DMs

Twoshoesnewshoes · 29/11/2025 14:34

Wide leg!
though they are quite wife leg tbf

Caplin · 29/11/2025 14:52

I like Free People and there are a few cords on Vinted from there, new with tags.

RampantIvy · 29/11/2025 14:53

I saw loads in White Stuff yesterday, and I have some Seasalt ones that I love.

I forgot, I bought Seasalt cords last year in their sale and I like them too. It's not a shop I usually buy from. Great colours. https://www.seasaltcornwall.com/asphodel-cropped-wide-cord-trousers

I have three pairs of these. Super comfy and needle cord wide legs as well. I also have house of bruar ginger cords in an inbetween thickness

QueenMummyTheFirst · 29/11/2025 15:16

I don't have these, but tried on a pair a while ago in a different colour, and loved them (just couldn't justify buying even more clothes!)
