Does anybody else get disappointed when a brand they like ends up in M&S?

M&S seems to be gobbling up everything.

Kitri, Albaray, Never Fully Dressed, Nobody's Child, Chinti and Parker...

I'm not even including Baukjen and Hush. Although obvs the next one would be ME+EM.

I find some brands I like, doing interesting stuff, then they end up on M&S 😥

That’s why I love M&S and I can get them delivered to our local shop!

Spiracles · 21/11/2025 20:35

I did not do M & S as links on my post. There's some sort of skim thing on Mumsnet that did that.

Yeah, but sometimes it's nice to have something a bit different, that the whole country hasn't discovered.

How soon before Wyse London are on there, they're probably coming for Rixo as well...

Not disappointed - but if I wanted to look at those brands (and some I like), I’d go to their websites.

It means across a range of sites I look at, there is increasingly overlap in what they’re offering - AND they all have ridiculously massive range that you need to trawl though.

GrumpyNovember · 21/11/2025 20:41

Not just MS I'll also include next in this and to a lesser degree Sainsbury's the convenience is great but everywhere feels the same these days.

EchoedSilence · 21/11/2025 20:41

They are not secret exclusive to you brands. It's good M & S bring them to a wiser audience.

Spiracles · 21/11/2025 20:44

You just know the clock is ticking on Sezane...

Yes, but it's nice to track down a brand you like, and not be wearing the same stuff as everyone else.

I’d be happy if Sezane was stocked by someone like John Lewis because the postage is extortionate and it means I could get it sent to Waitrose for free

awakeandasleep · 21/11/2025 20:49

When Jaeger folded and moved to M&S I must admit that hit pretty hard.

But you name dropping these brands is also not going to help your cause is it.

I think it’s a good thing there’s more variety and other ways to get them delivered. They’re not just for you!

there’s so many brands - we won’t all end up the same way everyone has such different tastes

KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying · 21/11/2025 20:54

I think it’s great.

No one can see your labels. I wouldn't know if someone was wearing Nobodies child or Asdas finest.

RedRiverShore5 · 21/11/2025 21:01

I prefer it. I find the delivery is better so generally use Next, JL or M&S for brands.

I doubt Sezane would do this as they seem to operate on a sales strategy of short runs and getting people to panic buy because stuff runs out quickly.

MidnightPatrol · 21/11/2025 21:02

And I hadn’t realised kitri was in M&S now - but I’d wondered if they were struggling as they have a lot of quite significant discounts.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 21/11/2025 21:04

The brands wouldn't be there if they didn't want the additional money from flogging to everybody.

HouseWithASeaView · 21/11/2025 21:05

My annoyance with it is that there is no so much floor space given over to all of the other brands that there is very little actual M&S stuff and so they have very limited sizing in what they have of their own.

This is interesting. Are they just trying to be John Lewis now?

And Finery London 😢

Still prefer a lot of M&S stuff to these brands .

Noshadelamp · 21/11/2025 22:38

Being in m & s might be helping these smaller lesser unknown brands going.
What would you rather, they go under because they turned down access to a wider audience?
Such ridiculous snobby gatekeeping.

reversingdumptruckwithnotyreson · 22/11/2025 08:36

I don’t understand what’s the issue?

NFD has gorgeous designs but poor quality and is essentially extortionately priced polyester. I guess Sezanne is marginally better, but hardly unknown. None of these are niche brands.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/11/2025 08:41

Ridiculous post. Brands clearly want to work with Marks, and get a wider audience. If you want to wear something that nobody else does, learn to make it yourself or don’t be such a bloody snob.

RedRiverShore5 · 22/11/2025 08:42

The only way a lot of these brands will keep going is to be sold in M&S, Next and JL.
