Does anybody else get disappointed when a brand they like ends up in M&S?

M&S seems to be gobbling up everything.

Kitri, Albaray, Never Fully Dressed, Nobody's Child, Chinti and Parker...

I'm not even including Baukjen and Hush. Although obvs the next one would be ME+EM.

I find some brands I like, doing interesting stuff, then they end up on M&S 😥

It’s a bit extreme to be upset about brands like Nobody's Child being in M&S, though.

It’s all just part of the small brand life cycle. They get more successful, more popular, and get picked up by various department stores (all - or most? - of these have been in John Lewis etc for a while I think?). Some of them will maintain quality as they scale up, some won’t, other small brands show up, some do well and some get popular, they end up in department stores / department store type websites (eg next, M&S). Good for people who like to shop through a few simpler store fronts, less good for people who like to feel like they’re discovering something secret or different.

Must admit, if I see anything I like in Mint Velvet or Hush or somewhere similar, the first thing I do is look and see if they stock it in Next as I have their delivery pass.
