Yes!!! That was the best calendar of the year. Really sweet.
I also remember (last or the year before?) someone posting their tights calendar daily updates with amazing humour.

Do you remember the name of the calendar?

@Isabelle70 How did you manage to get so many points? Is it that you get money off with the voucher/barcode when depositing, but then you rack up points in the process?
It’s been a while since I looked into it so can’t fully remember the process now.

@Seahorses12 It is completely worth it if it brings you so much joy on a daily basis. I had that feeling last year when opening my BACs (most days) and when I use a couple of my expensive handbags. Yes it’s an expensive way to get that joy but we all need something to brighten our days

Branster · 08/11/2025 11:30

@Manyoaks so disappointing.
Most of us have had at least one disappointing experience with BBC. I used to get their boxes all the time, last year and the year before the Christmas boxes were amazing. But I have often overlooked small mistakes until they lied to me directly when I questioned a missing product from an actual edit (not mystery box), plus various nearly expired or expired items. I have had some really really good products and am glad I tried them but wouldn't buy from them ever again. Their advertising is misleading (as you found out), they remove negative reviews, they invent reviews, there's a lot of hit and miss going on. I don't trust them anymore. Even though they still have some good boxes at times.

BakeOffRewatch · 08/11/2025 11:36

Did my homework it was @paranoiaofpufflings with Treatbox and who very kindly wrote a summary and review here https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5233357-general-waifs-and-strays-beauty-advent-calendar-opening-thread-2024-part-2?reply=141149954

It’s sold out and there’s a cut off date for it in August or September. 1st September they start delivering I think. Can’t believe I forgot about it doh treatboxuk.com/collections/advent-calendar

There’s loads of people from USA and AUS as well as other countries, ex-pats etc. It’s not policing, anyone can start a new thread though and no one has to join an existing one, and it seems a shame to spoil one with a group of people following their everyday ritual.

Agree with that. I simply stated why I don't take interest and participate, but I don't intent to do spoil any groups - I just stayed away last year and intend to do the same. It doesn't seem that I am the only one who have picked up on that vibe and stay away because of it. But nobody is looking to change it, and everyone can set up one without any rules if they wish.

BlueLimes · 08/11/2025 11:40

@Manyoaks thats dreadful - keep complaining.

I haven’t moved anything in my spacenk and have forgotten what’s in it apart from one thing I really wanted. DD had had a fickle and said I’ll love it (plus no doubt will claim a few bits. Harrods - I changed 5 boxes - there was one complete DOD for me.

Anyway I will enjoy the excitement and joy people get 🎄 it’s not too soon for a tree as @BakeOffRewatch is having a mince pie today.

That’s very considerate of you @MiaN thank you. I enjoy lurking on yours and rainbow’s scent threads. I learn so much. People are on different dates

ok we’re at 980 now so I’ll make a new thread. Thanks everyone for helping fill it up a bit more this Saturday morning

Following on from my previous post, it's a shame I didn't find this thread earlier. My son purchased the Bridal Beauty Company Christmas Luxe box for his girlfriend, and it was a huge disappointment—it looked nothing like the glamorous packaging shown on social media!
Question for others who bought one: Did your box include the specific BBC cream bag featured in the Instagram videos? I think ours might be incomplete. I honestly can't see how the items inside justify the £700 RRP claim. His review on the website seems to have been removed along with another reporting similar issues too.

I ordered it and received it earlier this week and also didn’t get the drawstring bag in my box.
I calculated the value of the items to be just over £650 so short of the £700 advertised.
I also left a review yesterday and can see they have removed the box from their site which in turn removes the reviews.

Oh @Manyoakswhat a pity for your son, that’s very disappointing but unsurprising .
They really are awful and I had some very bad experiences too. I messaged one of their “founders” directly ( found her on instagram) and screenshotted the rude comments from her CS department . She was apologetic and somewhat helpful. I got sent replacement products for the expired ones. No explanation for my faked reviews though. Maybe you could try that. I feel bad for your son doing something nice and it going wrong 🥲🥲

I love mulled wine but I’ve a sticky 5lbs trying to lose. Imagine if I get to goal and all my new products are miraculous .

Last year I bought my first ever advent, the Liberty, and have almost used up the products I loved and gifted others, so it was great value through the year. This year I joined the thread and bought the Space NK advent and then lusted after the Diptyque, which I bought as an extra special treat on my birthday and following a gruelling hospital procedure the same week. I also bought a lux beauty edit at Space NK which I have been using daily. So I have spent much more than I should have and I do feel 'slightly' guilty now about the Diptyque. It is such a thing of beauty though, I have it on display and it is the most beautifully designed calender I have ever seen, I look at it with love every morning🙂

Oh I’m so envious of your diptyque calendar 😍
Please share that one as you open so that I can live vicariously!

@BakeOffRewatchI think almost everyone posting from the UK or Ireland. As long as you are posting on the correct date, I don’t see why it matters. If you haven’t opened your calendar yet, then just don’t look at the thread. I don’t think it’s ok for people to try to police what other people are allowed to do and post.

I agree with you but do stick to the rules, mainly as I'm not an early riser😁

I also find some of the dedicated threads a bit frustrating. I sometimes check various ones out of curiosity just to see what I'm missing out on. I think because of the potential for being given out to, some people get excessively coy and just say something like "I really like today's one". A thread full of posts like that is really boring. Everyone is getting the same thing so surely giving your opinion is the point.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 08/11/2025 11:59

So my lovely DH treated me to F & M for Christmas …. I think I’m going to enjoy even more than when I got Liberty a few years back. Can’t wait

However in the true spirit of this thread I still have an itch to scratch to buy one for me, from me, IYSWIM? Going to justify this by telling myself I’ll put it away for next year 😆

Im eyeing up the Boots one that’s £56 at mo … does anyone know, do many decent multi brand ACs drop much below this or if Im not too fussed about a particular one, is this a really good one price wise?

Addictedtobeauty · 08/11/2025 12:04

@Manyoaks could you post a pic of the contents your son received and we can probably help you witb you response to BBC.

I suppose the issue is unless it's maybe a lipstick, perfume or similar most people aren't trying out the products the day they get them. The actual reviews come via the empties or other threads months later. 😃

Enjoy - I was tempted by F&M. Rhett are sone really lovely things in it.

Elle looks v good - not discounted yet I don’t think though.

Boots skincare I like the look of but I do prefer a more varied calendar.

efit to say John Lewis has l’occitane with 20% off. Or have you looked at the John Lewis boxes?

Keffert · 08/11/2025 12:17

IlovePond · 08/11/2025 10:57

I enjoyed the waifs and strays thread last year. I don’t really understand the single calendar threads as everyone has the same item in each drawer, so what’s the point? I’m sure there is one, I am just missing it.

Plus all the aggro when someone posts too early - no one breaks the rule on purpose but people get really upset! I don’t mind the rule, (makes sense), but surely almost everyone knows what is coming at some point anyway? There’s no need for grumpiness😹 And it’s Xmas!

Yes tbh I stumbled across the thread by accident last year as it was just in active and I was excited to share my first BAC. It was a few days in I think so I posted what I’d had so far and replied to a few other posts. I was guilty of not reading the whole thread up to that point but I wasn’t deliberately ignoring the rules and the poster who told me off was really rude about it. I wouldn’t have minded so much if it had been pointed out in a slightly nicer way but it really took the shine off it for me.
But as @BakeOffRewatch pointed out I shouldn’t have just barged in without reading the full thing, it was just excitement and ‘ooh a bac opening thread’

That is true but even "I like the colour" (so long as you tell me the colour) or "it's a brand I've been dying to try out" or "the packaging is so pretty" (preferably with a photo) would satisfy me. At a minimum tell me what it is.

Yeah, I know. I'm very demanding for someone who is just nosing on the thread😁

@Thelifeofawife I did 3 beauty drops that gets you 500 points each time for a £10 spend. And then I do the blister packs and get 100 points for a £5 purchase. I think I started with the recycling in June. I can only recycle beauty when I travel to the UK as my home store only offers blister recycling but it’s better than nothing.
