I have the HN fragrance and I think it’s a great calendar. I’m a little irked that I paid full price for it and there have been some discounts recently, but I don’t regret my purchase. Despite being smaller sizes, I think there is a good range of fragrances in it so it does feel good value.

I was on waifs and strays last year and enjoyed it. I also read the liberty thread and a few others. This year I'll be joining in for the 1st but am then away for 10 days in the middle of December.

It has been a lovely thread and I've enjoyed all the discussions.

My home tread is the scent of the day/ fragrance thread and that's full year. I find tend to avoid the December advent opening discussions. Someone posts 10 minutes before the agreed time or mixed up day, others start to give out that they have broken the rules - its not my vibe.

There's rules for advent calendar opening? 🤣

She probably would've ended up with more than 7 if she'd joined us and had all of us enabling her 🤣

I also bought the HN FAC at full price, I was expecting it to sell out fast. I thought the SNK FAC would sell out fast too, but it seems both are still hanging around.

@OvaHere @Addictedtobeauty I have been on a using up stint for over two years 🤦🏻‍♀️ I have actually done ok at not buying other than to replace but a few things I liked have been discontinued so it’s been a bit of trial and error this year to find other things I liked. Last year I had H&B and rituals advent and am mostly done on those, just some handcream, body scrub, and shower gel to use (I mostly use soap so tend to use shower gel as bubble bath). I have bought two beauty boxes this year as well as replacing things that have run out so once I open my advent calendars I’ll probably be overstocked again 🫣. Then I will have to stay away from style and beauty threads so I don’t get tempted!

Is there a low buy/no buy thread for beauty products? There are a couple for clothes though they've faded in the second half of the year.

I wfh so last year I actually didn't open mine until lunchtime when I had time to actually appreciate it 😊 (I only had 1 last year, how times have changed 🤣)

I ordered the HN fragrance calendar the other day and was delighted to find it on the doorstep in the dark when I got in from work last night. DH was in his office in a meeting so I rushed it straight upstairs to stash in the wardrobe. Got up this morning to have a look while he's out running, only to find it wasn't my AC after all. It was a work-related parcel for him! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Oh well, at least I've still got it to look forward to.

I think I need to be on that thread. The only thing would be, if someone mentioned a great beauty product, I'd then have to buy it 🤣 My idea has been to stock up for the next year with all these great beauty bargains and then I don't need to buy anything. Let's see if it works out like that 🤣

I keep going back to this. It breaks my rule of no more than 3 DOD. But I think dd/ds’ gf would use all of the DOD. And I also think it’s worth it even with the DOD as it’s such a bargain…

The beauty empties thread is supposed to be a bit like that but I manage to find enablement over there too. 😂

I daren't admit how many I've got 🙈 I have put one away for spring time opening though 😊 I've picked up some of the beauty boxes too and some of the fragrance sets, I think I've gone crazy. I think I'll just (try to) get the tried and tested box from CB and then put a strict no buying ban on myself.

I got it but not counting it as a BAC 😳

I found the recycling schemes really helped motivate me to use up products and I was doing brilliantly. I haven’t maintained the momentum now the incentives are gone.

I have got a bit better with beauty boxes and gwp in the latter half of this year. I was like a child in a sweet shop when i first discovered the CB edits. Probably didn't help that the first one I bought was an incredibly good one ( Summer Fridays edit from around Sep last year).

I think a combination of them not being as good, increasing in price, reward schemes getting poorer and already having tried a lot of things has helped me calm it down. I did just buy one of the Boots £35 edits but that's the first one out of the 8-10 ish they've released since they started doing them.

I've also got better with gwp. I don't really enjoy having too many minis hanging around. I've come to realise they are a pain to store and see what you have and sometimes the packaging is annoying to use compared to a larger size of something. I can still be swayed by a really good one but the only one currently on my radar for next year is the Harrods springtime one that comes with a bag. That was the best one of the year. Unless I've used up a lot of current minis by then it needs to be a firm no.

I've also cut down all my sub boxes down to just Liberty Beauty Drop.

Conclusion - I am a work in progress! 😂

@Cyclingmummy1 there is an accountability thread for the very bravest of the brave. I daren't post on there. It is actually very informative.
The Boots AC with the discount must be the best value this year. I'm still holding strong and not buying anything but dear Lord do I keep looking, thinking, attempting to buy a million times before I remember I must be good. I even got FOMO about BBC but not enough equivalent of brilliant sex compared to the numerous disappointments . I started using a huge shampoo bottle from an old BBC edit. The shampoo is actually very good but the pump doesn't work. Although I always hope products will be nice and easy or enjoyable to use, I am prepared for them not to be good or involve a degree of work/preparation. However, bad packaging and delivery system put me off instantly and I refuse to use anything where the pump/pipette etc doesn't work. Straight to bin. It's my one real dislike when using beauty products.

I miss the THG recycle scheme. It was great whilst it lasted.

I’ll be on the perfume thread and the GWP/deals one. I don’t actually have an advent calendar to open as what I’ve bought has all been fragrance and bought for use now. I may be tempted by a good BF deal though
