Are mini-skirts still appropriate for women over 30?

I’ve noticed mini-skirts making a big comeback lately, and it got me wondering—are they still considered “age-appropriate” once you’re past your 20s? I’m in my mid-30s and still love the look, especially in summer, but a few friends say it feels “too young” now. Personally, I think it’s more about how you style it and how confident you feel, but I’m curious what others think.
Do you feel there’s an age limit for mini-skirts, or is that an outdated idea?

I wore a mini last weekend to a party with thick tights, boots and a slouchy style jumper. I'm 48 but my legs have never looked so good as I've been working out a lot. I felt great. I'm not a skinny person either...size 12/14.

Oh ffs, mini skirts are appropriate for over 30s, if over 30s want to wear them… End of.

I have a gorgeous very mini swing dress and I'm mid 40s! It's got a high neck and long sleeves though. So it's how your wear it.

Yes after 30 if you feel comfortable. I did wear mini skirts /dresses in my 30s. But feel less comfortable once turned 40, not even sure why as there was no change in body shape or size.

Stop GAF what anyone else thinks. If you feel good wearing them, carry on and keep wearing them until you’re 70 if you feel like it. Ditto long hair

Hell yes! Im going to be wearing one tonight with thick tights and ankle high heel boots.

I probably wouldn't wear one with no tights though. I have amazing legs but Im 52 and my knees are starting to age....

My 72 year old MIL still wears them with thick black tights and chunky jumpers in the winter and trainers and t-shirts in the summer. She looks great.

I disagree with “age-appropriate” dressing. It’s misogynistic.

I’m 46 and wear them - as well as the shorts / tights / boots combo - all the time. I DGAF and anyone that comments or thinks negatively about it is a product of patriarchy.

“Dressing for your age” is wrong, you should dress for yourself and wear what makes YOU feel good. I can’t even imagine a time when I’ll suddenly stop wearing cropped tops or short skirts or things like that. Also, 30’s IS young! You don’t just get one decade of adult life to have fun and be yourself and then that’s it. There’s too much ancient nonsense out there designed to knock women down a peg or too once they enter their 30s and none of it is remotely true. WEAR THE MINI SKIRT. 💖

I’m 54 and wore one last week. A lovely M&S one in chocolate brown I’ve just bought. I wore it with knee high boots. I wear what I fancy really.

I wear cut off denim shorts in summer (when it's properly hot and no one gives a shit) and mini skirts with opaque tights in the winter.

These last few years (late 40s early 50) i wouldn't wear a mini with bare legs, so summer skirts are knee length or longer.

Mini with tights knee high boots or ankle boots and a jumper looks fab though 😊

And i've just bought a dark green knitted mini. Black tights and i've got black or brown knee highs (riding boot sort of style) to go with.

30 is young!! Just a short fraction into your adult life. If you think 30 is too old for anything, you will be feeling old for a huge proportion of your life

Of course. I wear a mini skirt (with tights) and I'm 45!

I’d wear them in my 80s with tights if I had the legs still

In my 50’s and I still wear them. Not without tights (not necessarily thick ones though) but that’s only as I don’t tan and prefer a bit of coverage on my blinding white legs

33 next week and wearing one today. Bought two more for this season. I wear them with thick tights

I don't think it is a matter of age. Just a recognition they are not for everyone and it depends on what you wear them with.

The only thing that’s inappropriate is trying to define what a woman should wear based on how old she is. Have a word with yourself!
