H&M - what are they thinking?

There's some mad stuff going on in the world and people have lost their minds. But when it comes to H&M's designers, they take the whole biscuit tin.
I get their daily emails with new fashion updates, things they want you to buy, and every day I shake my head in disbelief that anyone in their right mind would want to dress this way. Today's one is particularly bad. Am I just out of touch or something??! 🤯

H&M do the best Mom jeans I’ve found on the high street (buy a size up).
Other than that I only buy cotton or linen basics from there. I was tempted by some of the summer collections but was put off by the weird sizing and synthetic fabrics.

Most of it isn't my cup of tea, but I believe those odd shaped boots and the loafers are in Vogue atm (literally).

Not sure about the fluffy shoes though! Remember the club's with all the gunge on the floor? Can just imagine it all getting sucked up by the fur 🤢

That's the point, it's called friction.

Fur shoes aren't new, Phoebe Philo was doing them when she was at Celine well over a decade ago. In fact, the majority of things you've linked to are pretty benign and watered down high street versions of catwalk looks. Also, while some might wear sheer socks and lace-ups with bare legs and a skirt, a good many more will wear them with trousers, with no skin on show. If one is selling shoes and/or socks, this kind of image - just the shoe and sock - is the best way to do it!

The majority of H&M stores don't stock these things, but those who do, the stuff flies out. A thought. Perhaps you're not H&M's target market, but, you're still talking about them and sending all of us to their website where many of us will find other things we like. That's kind of the point of marketing emails but am sure you know this.

Brown is one of the few neutrals I can wear without looking washed out - you've had years of grey (and black and beige), allow us pasty people one season! ;) I've honestly been waiting about 20 years for it to come back, would like to see more cool dark browns though.

The only thing I have bought in H&M for ages was last week - a pair of trackies in dark brown 😅 I'm quite pleased with them, not as boring/cheap looking as black ones and they actually fit me without dragging on the floor or being ridiculously wide (5'2", size10/12). I can't find them on the website now though...

Primark was looking very colourful when I walked past - lots of patterns too. It gave me C&A flashbacks

The wide topped Boots are so you can have a shit while you're walking along thus saving time and not having to go to an actual toilet. We all.lead busy lives after all.

Red and chocolate brown but so many just going head to toe in brown. It also looks weird because so many shades of brown put together may not match. Brown can look very cheap.

Sorry to say you’re probably no longer their fashion forward audience. They are trying to leave the mainstream creds behind and embrace the next now like Zara are able to do. I quite like some of it.

Zara is a shop I've never bought anything from. I don't know what the problem is but I wander round and don't even have the inclination to try anything on

I was looking for sandals but couldn't be arsed scrabbling around on my hands and knees due to their ridiculous idea of dotting footwear all around the shop at floor level.

So if H and M are following their styling I won't be buying much there either

I'll soon be doomed as I absolutely hate Internet shopping.

You can wear colour with brown too, it appears in nature with colour far more than black does. Also, there are different shades of brown - orangey tan or cooler toned.

What on earth makes you think you can't wear colour with brown Confused

Also, how does it affect you if other people wear brown? Just wear what you like and let others do what they want. I think a lot of clothes are hideous - but I don't think I'm so special that I need to pass judgement.
