Trainers for autumn/winter

What’s on your target list? What colour/style?

I’m very aware my barefoot in Birkenstock days are numbered and my trainers are too “summer”. I have white Nike AF1 (yeah yeah I know but they’re comfy), pale blue Nike running shoes and light turquoise adidas (can’t remember the style but not samba or gazelle, but similar)
Theyre not going to work with my winter clothes (dark neutrals like most ), so what colour trainers should I look at? I’m at a blank! Oh -I can’t wear Adidas gazelles

I’ve just ordered these in burgundy and am waiting for the pink and green to come into stock on my size to get those as well

Another vote for New Balance 327's.

I have black with animal print N from last year, so I'll be wearing those again. They're so comfortable!

I also have the green/floral Adidas x Liberty Sambas, also from last year, that I love. So they're coming out again this week.

But I do really fancy a brown-ish pair, of something.

I bloody love the Liberty ones. Beautiful.they bring me joy

This thread is becoming a total wish list!!

Is anyone esle thinking that a lot of these posters must live somewhere where it never rains or gets muddy Grin

I have brown suede adidas spezials (I like the insert shape on them) and navy leather sambas for this time of year. Lighter and brighter trainers have gone into hibernation till spring. I’m hankering after some burgundy adidas though.

I do a bit! I love a suede trainer but no amount of protector will stop them getting knackered if I wear them to watch my daughter play football.

so it’s leather for me or a synthetic I don’t hate.

I have the brown ones too. I’m not a trainer person usually but I love these and they go with absolutely everything.

😆

I’m a city girl and my days of taking kids on muddy park / football outings are long gone.

I check the weather to help decide which trainers to wear. No suede if rain is forecast!

If you haven't already chosen some @Lifebeganat50 I have just got these Converse for winter - they have a fleecy lining and are water resistant. I still want another pair of darker trainers though - loving the inspiration on this thread!

@HannahHamptonsGloves you have just reminded me I have some very on trend burgundy leather converse stashed away somewhere. That’s stopped me buying another pair of trainers 😂. Those Hoffs are lovely though@Overtheatlantic , maybe I need some trainers with a chunkier sole for my wide leg jeans in the rain…

Overtheatlantic · 27/09/2025 19:11

That’s exactly why I got them! And they are brown and blue which is a combination that I love. Tried them on. Felt cute. 😆

Ruthietuthie · 27/09/2025 20:33

I have these in all colors. Generally, I think a burgundy is a good color for a winter trainer, goes with denim, goes with everything else, looks nicely autumnal.

Which ones are these? They are gorgeous. I have the Madrid ones but I would love some brown ones for Christmas.

I love reading threads about trainers. I am the least "with it" trainer wearer on the planet, if they fit, are comfortable and don't look shabby or chavvy I'll wear them!

I actually got a fab pair of WATERPROOF hiking trainers in Decathlon a couple of weeks ago. 45 quid, they are light as a feather, I'd walk miles in them, and they have been tested in a deluge and not a drop got near my socks. That's a win for me anyway!

I tend to wear soft leather ankle boots with trousers/jeans in the Winter. But I'm old and can't keep up with all the latest stuff!

You sound like me. I am fascinated that people buy trainers in several different colours. I WFH and don't go out very often and can't justify buying so many pairs of trainers. I just have a pair of Skechers Trail shoes for walking in dark grey, a general pair of Adidas in black, and a pair of smarter looking leather Remonte trainers in navy that are waterproof.

I would be interested to know which waterproof hiking trainers you bought though.

Love the Hoff and size 9s too great. Suede tricky isnt it had nice pumas but they wrecked now so just wear to football matches. Great thread

inamo · 28/09/2025 11:26

@RampantIvy These are the shoes I got. Sorry I got the price wrong but in a good way and no crime was committed! Very comfortable - to me anyway.

Nursingadvice · 28/09/2025 20:40

I bought some new balance 530 and I love the colour of them but I’ve tried a 5, 5.5 and 6 and none fit right. 6 is far too big and 5.5 my toe still hits the end. I think they’re just too narrow in the toe bit and I’m gutted

I love those Puma ones! Great price.

Just worn them today, super comfortable.
