What’s with the high waist jeans everywhere?

I’ve been looking for jeans and soooo many are high waisted. Why is it so popular? I can’t see the appeal.

I’m guessing you haven’t been Jean shopping for the last…. Half decade?

😂😂😂😂 have I made a fool out of myself with this post? It’s true, I hate buying jeans so I rarely go - but I do look at them online. This was in response to a shopping trip to actual stores

Yes, tucking is very big right now. Boxy tops, tucked into high waists. But the high waisted thing has been going on for ages!

High waisted makes your legs look longer. Also good for those who have a bit of a squishy middle that needs holding in rather than cutting in half.

I really don’t like the tucking in. Just not my look.

I hate them. I don’t think they make my legs look longer. They make my slightly podgy tummy look bulkier. I’d feel like Simon Cowell if I wore them.

I am short with a short torso. They make me look like a fell in a puddle of denim up to my armpits.

I don't like high waists but it's nice to bend down without revealing arse crack or muffin top.

I'm tall and pear shaped and find higher waists the most comfortable.

I bought some new jeans last week. Wide leg and high waist. Wow..I look really slim in them. Im not a fan of the tuck in, ordinarily but it does just look right with these jeans so im embracing it.

They don’t flatter me at all. I’d love to be able to wear the look. But it dies t work on me at all.

My trusty pair of jeans are now almost threadbare and I don’t know what to do. I cannot find any that suit me.

You can’t really wear mid rise if you have anything

I’m the same, I look ridiculous in high waisted jeans. I only feel comfortable in low-rise which are almost impossible to find at the moment. I’ve never understood ‘fashion’ though. I don’t care what someone else thinks looks good at the moment or what others think of me. I want to wear what I want regardless of what others think is cool at the moment. I wish shops would sell a range of each rise so we can decide for ourselves what we can wear.

I have some that look ok but others look awful, especially as I have a section pouch which was opened again for a hysterectomy. I am slimish at a 10/12 but have a visible bulge. I try and find mid rise jeans as they flatter more, especially if I tuck something in but I am like you OP. I don’t often tuck.

Fashions come and go, some will suit some people, some won't. Now it's our turn, and yes it's great for holding in tummies!!

I need to get a new pair actually. Where is good to look at the moment?

High waisted are unflattering but they do stay up!

I'm not a big fashion person but I thought high waist have been around for a long time and the low ones are coming back! I might be wrong! I prefer something in the middle personally so I'm glad I've found some mid rise!

They are fabulous. Long may they last.

No idea, but God Bless the high rise jeans, I need them high to tuck in my blubber!

Nothing worse than the feeling of jeans or trousers sliding down your bum and showing your undies 😶

I also look crap in them as a long legged short torso person.
I thought the end was in sight as my 17 year old and her friends all stopped wearing high waisted jeans over a year ago…but maybe not.

High waisted jeans have been around for ages, and like a previous poster, I love them - also pear shape figure. However, if you go to places like M and S, Next etc , you find an array of jeans in every shape and colour to suit your needs. I also thought low and mid rise are on the increase.

I tried a few different pairs in Next that were nice, although annoyingly while they all said high rise, only some of them were and some were definitely too low for my liking.

I thought low rise was supposed to be back in now? It might take a while for it to trickle down to all shops, but I'm sure I read that somewhere!

I hope the shops aren't just going to be full of low rise. I find them so uncomfortable and I feel too insecure in them.

We need jeans of all shapes and sizes because people are all shapes and sizes.
